Sohappy to find your beautiful channel. The best of UA-cam. I remember my glorious trip to Ireland 2 decades ago. I could barely sleep for my excitement while there. Two weeks was too short. I left my heart there. I remember Kinsale with such affection.
On top of all deserved praise: I had no idea that sailing requires so profound navigational skills, taking into consideration the weather patterns, mooring and so much more. I thought naively you just hold the wheel and go. Newly learned respect for seamen.
THIS IS THE MOST WONDERFUL AND AMAZING TRAVEL DOCUMENTARY I HAVE EVER SEEN!. THANK YOU. - I watch all your Venture Boats trips (Aleutians, Alaska, British Columbia, Europe, Ireland, England, California, Idaho, New York). All videos are properly edited and perfectly presented. All landscapes, scenes, nature, blue sky, grey sky, deep blue sea make me feel so good. It is very soothing and entertaining. Whenever I am stressed out in my life, I always go to watch your sailing videos and it comfort me a lot. - I enjoy watching all your videos (on my 72" flat screen TV - SONY) all time, every weekend from my home in Los Angeles. Even though I am not fortunate like you to circumnavigate the globe and travel on own boat, your sea journey and wonderful voyage videos have brought many delights and good feeling to me. We all ordinary people are grateful to you (Gratitude) for your generous and wonderful presentations. Thank you.
I love the voice over on these films. Mr Fleming you have a calming voice and with the vidoe and pictures makes these films a joy to watch and listen to.
Thank you so much for introducing us to the natural world. I like the way you deliver the information to us, as in good literature you show more than you tell thank you so much from New Zealand.
Thanks for taking me along to places I will never see. Especial from San Antonio, Texas. Even with the ruff whether, rain and storms, it was very relaxing during this pandemic.
I absolutely love tagging along on Venture's adventures. So many parts of the world I will never get to see in person I can pretend I am there with Venture's crew. Brilliant narration and filming
Of the few benefits of being locked-down, allowing Tony Fleming to create these videos is certainly one of the best. Each and every one is professionally done, spectacularly photographed and narrated, and extraordinarily beautiful. What an incredible talent he has.
Your videos are just totally unbelievably beautiful and excellent! Thank you again there are so many of us that would never ever be able to see any of this.
I too greatly appreciate the filming, editing, script, and narration made so delightful. I have long had the desire to sail Eire and Scotland and the northern island groups. Here we are introduced to lesser islands of which I had no knowledge. It is exciting to see although not as exciting for you to walk the home of your grandfather. Truly a blessing. Thank you for hosting these videos to the world.
I've always enjoyed your films particularly of Alaska. Your trip up the west coast of Scotland is equally interesting. Just a point to note. The Cuillin, more specifically the Black Cuillin and the Red Cuillin are mountain ranges that contain various hills. The word Cuillin is normally used in the singular and it is pronounced " koolin". Thanks for great films.
Your visit to St. Kilda led me to the info of its history. This happens a lot with your videos. Just excellent in all ways . . . your shared journeys. Thank you.
Another breathtaking adventure. I have followed this trip with google maps using its satellite view in wonder at your courage to navigate these waters. Keep safe ( I see you are currently in Preveza, obviously planning your next adventure) Thanks again for sharing this beautiful part of the world.
Coralita675 Exactly what I was thinking then saw your post. This is a lot better than some programs they dish up for the viewers, marvellous thank you for treating us to this
I always hoped to visit places like this , but alas I fear it will never be. So , Thank you Tony and crew for this visit to the land of my ancestors (McClung) who left that place back in 1620's to come to America. For some reason it was very moving to me and I believe I know now why the mountains have called me to live amongst them in New Hampshire . Maybe my ancestors dreamed of a place free of persecution of the times they lived in and had the calling to move to the new world to be free . When I hike in the mountains I get very emotional very deep in my heart and now I know why. Your detail and history documentation of these places pleases me beyond anything I could imagine. If I never see these places in person , at least you helped me see them and feel the history they have. Well done Sir , Well done !
I feel very honored that you found my video so moving and I am sorry to learn that you doubt you will be able to visit the land of your ancestors. I do have some additional, more personal, videos on my Vimeo site which you might find of interest: www.vimeo,com/tonyfleming Look for anything to do with Scotland or Jura where my great grandfather was born. There is also one about a Family Tree and even Chapter 1 of Riding the Tide. Thanks for your comment.
In the beginning of this video you mentioned the volcanic erruptions that closed down air travel for a week or so. We are Americans but were living in Portugal and were vacationing in Cork when the world came to a stop. What a beautiful place to be stranded. We traveled daily to Kensale to eat and shop. We were almost dissapointed when we finally had to leave. It is a beautful part of the world. Thanks for this video. We had also, on another trip, visited Scotland but didn’t realize how much of the north of Scotland is wild country. Such beauty. It is breathtaking. We’ll just have to make another trip.
I love this film. The scenery is unbelievable. The segment with your grandfathers cottage is very moving. I live in southwestern Ontario so some of the names resonate in me. Fingal, Tobermory etc.
You are doubtless a national treasure of the Isles Tony! 🙌 History was my best subject in my formal education and your quiet measured delivery is at a level that milks the finest reward from time itself. Bless you sir!
Thank you for another beautiful video. I have enjoyed them all, but this one was particularly interesting as some of my ancestors also came from Jura. It was enlightening to see the landscape and features. I look forward to the next leg of your journey.
In general I’m pretty happy with how my life has turned out. But your videos really make me rethink the question: “If I had to do it all over again...” Thank you so much for sharing.
Just discovered these as I looked for some film of interest. Very well made and edited and a well thought out commentary. looking forward to the rest of the series.
If you enjoy this type of video, I suggest you go to www.flemingyachts.com, run your cursor over About Tony in the top menu and then select the UA-cam channel from there. That will give you the full scope of the videos available.
I have a question (a land lubber but fascinated by all your videos especially the Sahara trip). Very often you say ‘this will be an overnight voyage ‘ I often wonder why you would choose to travel overnight with the extra hazards incurred. Is it weather, tides of just schedule. Thanks ASH
If one is traveling along the coast where there are anchorages to choose from then generally one would not travel overnight. But if traveling long distances then you have no choice but to keep going. You cannot just drop anchor and stop out in open waters. Traveling at night you need to take turns to keep watches - generally two hours on watch followed by 6 hours off with a crew of four.
Dear Mr Fleming. Your Videos are Simply Stunning, Your Editing, Narration and Information are Truly Delightful, and as good as anything I have seen on the BBC. ( sorry Mr Attenborough ) I live in England but due to ill health (cancer and angina) and my inability to save means I will probably never travel again. Please do not feel sorry for me as I worked in Motor Racing (F1) for 27 years. I have visited 33 Country`s on 4 Continents, and have drunk enough to sink a Fleming!!! And seen some Beautiful places. Your videos take me to places that I will never see but make me feel that I have. Thank You. Please take care and stay safe.....ps: How about a shopping video to show some of the practical sides to Cruising. Like where do you restock the Champagne??? :-)))))
Absolutely wonderful Tony, the hour seemed to flash past. I would not be surprised if the sheer quality of this production led to it being bought by one of the TV networks. (PS just one wee point: the Cuillin Mountains on Skye are pronounced Coo-lin)
Within U.S. waters, nav markers are a mixed bag. Inland waters differ from ocean coasts. The ICW and the Great Lakes differs still. Even among ocean ports there are differences in marking systems.
Seeing this, can you imagine aseries off Viking ships from Norway sailing the same waters, but open boats with no coverage, just ors and sails! They fought and settled in scotland and ireland! as well as England and Wayles. 1300s@1400s. how they ever knew where they were going with no GPS! is a wonder!
My Son & His Father just visited Ireland in June. I personally know nothing about Ireland. I feel Suspecious. I know A Walter Scott, He is/ was a Pedeatric Dr. Here in New Iberia, La. I only had one child he's 29 now & was his Doctor.
AT 49:20" you show storm clouds that are worthy of the tropics. Is this due to the warm water of the Gulf Stream. And what is the water temperature. I've heard that the Irish Sea is quite temperate.
On the Outer Herbredies, were there ever forests on these islands? Did the forests disappear because of the grazing of sheep and cows? Or is the weather too intemperate for trees to thrive? Trees don't grow in the USA midwest because the weather is too severe: too windy and cold, ice storms breaking tree limbs. As a result, from Chicago to Denver you don't see a tree more than about forty years old and more than 60 feet tall.
Please,if you can. Go back to these places . There is powerful ancient magic there. Buried deep for protection against the ignorant. You are not counted in that ignominious class. The song brought tears to my old fading eyes.

and, thank you from the U.S Clay, WV you are very well spoken and relaxing to listen to
I agree... the narrator describes all details in great depth... making the video extremely interesting...
Well edited. Nice music. Breathtaking scenery. A blessed life. (Sing Tony, sing!)
Thanks for taking me along to places I will never see. Especial from San Antonio, Texas. Even with the ruff whether, rain and storms, it was very relaxing during this pandemic.
We also have a fair amount of rough weather.

Aaaaaaaahhhhhhh. Some day...
Mr. Fleming, your productions are extremely interesting, educational, and enchanting. Cheers to you and yours!
Your films are like beautifully faceted gems to those of us who are thrilled with expedition yachting.
Your videos are just totally unbelievably beautiful and excellent! Thank you again there are so many of us that would never ever be able to see any of this.
ONE OF THE GREATEST HISTORY CHANNELS EVER.
Wow! I hope you know how blessed you are to see the World on a vessel like Venture! She is stunning!
I too greatly appreciate the filming, editing, script, and narration made so delightful.

Absolutely love your videos! You should get rewards for your editing, narration, music..thank you for sharing.
I was going to write a 'Thank you' comment, but you said it so well, I cannot say much more. A brilliant series, with great photography and narration.
I fish at Hurst Castle all the time; was there on Wednesday after the lockdown was lifted - awesome place! Crazy tide races in that area.
GOOD job! Thank You ...
I watched and enjoyed all of it ... what struck me is that you did a better job than BBC's 'Coast' programme.
Thank you again for posting this beauty !

Thank you Tony for re issuing these wonderful voyages. The care you take and the work you put in is reflected in the quality of the videos.
Your videos are stunning. Your command of the English language both wonderful and refreshing.
Very very enjoyable film and lovely to see you stopped off in my hometown of Howth.
What a awesome beautiful video thank you for sharing this.👍♥️
Oh my, what adventures you have had!
Thank you once again, Mr.Fleming, for taking us on your voyage. This is a beautiful, informative video, and I enjoyed it very much.
Tony, you have a wonderful eye. Please don't stop.

'we asked a couple of Cormorants but they just shrugged their wings' Love it!
This series is so well done. Thank you for the time you took to put these together. I know the time involved and it’s no mean feat.
In the beginning of this video you mentioned the volcanic erruptions that closed down air travel for a week or so. Great work, and I love ur Boat!
Wow, whata trip! Absolutely great!
Is the reason for this series to create a desire for sea voyaging snd exploration?
Well done I enjoy them. At least I can visit through camera lenses.
Honor stands show the good side of people. We used to have them for newspapers, but the Internet put an end to newspapers

I like the narration even as much as the scenery. Great video, great series. Love your channel.
Excellent video, very informative and educational and I’ve lived in Scotland all my life
T hat woman singing at 37:52 had a beautyfull voice. and filled that cave with good vibrations!
I'd rather listen to the natural 'singing of the sea' in Fingal's cave than some self absorbed woman belting out The carpenters.
Such a relaxing video, thank you!
WOW - i envy you, Venture . thank you (from texas)

I am glad you enjoy the videos. When we can travel again, depends on Covid. Another factor is that the years are catching up on me.
