What an absolute treasure! Such an underrated player for how he can write/play so creatively, poetically and emotionally. With no lyrics!? If that doesn't scream a special talent I don't know what would. As amazing live as he is in studio. Another talent I'm proud to say is Canadian through and through. Way to go Bruce, you represent with the best of them.
I listen to him almost every day. His instrumental work is so deep, it takes me somewhere else. A true master-class artist, long may he keep playing...
I discovered Cockburn in High School. Fell for his work immediately. I have seen him in concert 14 times, and never left the venue not feeling absolute elation. I have his entire discography, including his box set "Rumours Of Glory." Plenty of new material, and my desert island album. I highly recommend purchasing it. "Birmingham Shadows" from 'The Charity Of Night' album is my favourite Cockburn song. He must have ran into copyright issues with this song. The last verse that is on the original album and box set reads "If I fall down and die ~ Before I can say good-bye ~ Remember this; you'll have lost a friend". Powerful! This last verse has been removed from all of the 'The Charity Of Night' albums, his box set and versions on the internet. I'd love to know the story on what happened. I met Bruce backstage at the Jubilee Auditorium in Calgary for that very album, "The Charity Of Night'. He signed a beautiful, limited edition poster for me. I had it framed and it's hanging in the same spot today. Thank you Bruce!
I've seen him about eight times I'd say and agree with you absolutely thrilled every time. An amazing writer, singer, musician. What a great soul and human being he is!
Met Bruce October 2019..memorable experience..someone took our picture together was nice...he has no idea how much I've loved and appreciated his music now some lol!
Wow looks totally different than when I saw him in concert last! Also I’d pass this link on to my Dad who is a huge Cockburn fan but I don’t want him checking to see if there’s a new album out yet. Because then he’d buy it. that would be my Christmas gift plan down the drain, and it’s hard to find good gifts for him. Plus side, great track!
christopher astin posted this incomplete statement so to help a brother out I’ll finish it for him...lol... Nice enough to fill you heart and soul! Nice enough to set your mind on a journey of healing! Nice enough to let you have a glimpse of eternal bliss! No need to thank me Christopher I would hope you’d do the same for me! 👍
@@jamesc4812 Thank you Bruce, We met in Portland many years ago, when you, your music and passion inspired myself and others on a journey that has been at times epic, and that today has, and is effecting us and THE WORLD in utterly profound ways. Ways in which I could have never imagined, but in ways you seem to have foreseen. It seems that at times the hopes, insights and passions of others can be almost as consequential as divine intervention, when truth and love is what we hold true in our hearts, and for that I consider you a friend. My love and prayers are with you and all those who share a love of the creation, truth and mankind.
Still trying to figure out how he gets the percussive effect. Is it just leading edge fingernail down strokes or is he tapping with his pinky or wrist? Such a distinct style.
H. J. Ramelan I’m “thinking” that it’s the way he’s repeatedly hitting the low E string. It looks like sometimes he’s using it as a drone bass note, and sometimes as a muted percussive strike. Very similar in sound to what Michael Hedges (if you’re familiar with him) used to do.
Just saw him in concert - he still has the voice and chops of a 40 year old. Magical night.

I would know who's playing without even looking at the video. A favourite for 50 years!

It is hard for me to see this guy grow old. Time marches onward.
Just listen. He's making music that is as fabulous as he's ever made.
More power to that monster right thumb, Bruce!
