Italian cities teach us the importance of streets as a major force for understanding our common humanity, for civilization. Thank you for these videos.
My grandparents are from sicily as well (caltagirone). I'm so pumped to show them your videos tomorrow! They're 87 and can barely walk and won't go outside anymore because of Corona. Your video idea is amazing, thank you!
Hey, that's great to hear! I just posted up a walk through the Ballaro Market in Palermo for my UA-cam members. You coooooulld join, just for the month, so you'd have access to it for tomorrow. It's only $5. The market is pretty dang interesting though. I'll be posting up a full 3 hour walking tour of Palermo next weekend which includes several markets and a tour of the Teatro Massimo. So that should be out to everyone on the 1st. That's the plan anyway. Hope you have a good day with your grandparents. Ciao.
@@mohammedfaraaz7814 hi mohammed, my grandparents don't live in sicily anymore, they moved to germany many decades ago because of the lack of work back then. From what I know, several cities are almost like ghost cities where only the old people remain, because the younger generation moved further north for jobs and a stable future possibilities. I can't talk for palermo though, the situation there may be a bit brighter, because it's a bigger and more popular city. Best of success to you, buddy
@@zye.... thank you soo much , I got admission in university of palermo so that was the reason . asked you the details thank you sooo much for your reply ..
Behind when we leave a place, we stay there, even though we go away. And there are things in us that we can find again only by going back there.Your video reminded us all our memories that we leaved there.....thank you!!!!!
Very nice place and beautiful scenery. Your Bike tour in Palermois so interesting. It's a place I really want to go someday. Big liked. I wish you have a happy weekh...👍👍
Hey, you are very welcome. Hope it is easy to watch while you ride. I have a lot more footage actually from Palermo. When I rode through the Porta Nuova, I spent a lot time riding around in the area on the other side of the gate, but it wasn't all too interesting so I cut that part out.
This was so neat! Like a fast-forwarded version of the day walk. It was fun to recognize spots we passed in the other video. I was watching this by myself since my partner usually just wants to watch the ones with captions, but she walked in and saw it, and liked it enough to watch it with me. Your photography really makes Palermo shine, and speeding up the progression through those long straight streets helps keep the pacing nice and brisk. Very fun to watch! On a technical note, it's also amazingly smooth and level, for a bike. Were you pedaling, or coasting on electric power? It seems like the latter, since there's no rocking back and forth, and I can't hear any pedal noise. Also, to keep it level (even when you were turning your head), were you actually using a gimbal on a helmet mount (heavy!)? Or did you use Linear + HL instead of Wide (I notice the walls are pretty straight on the left and right as well)? Either way, really nice job on the smooth and level! I notice there are some "skips" in the video at times. Example: 3:12. As you enter that intersection, the music seems not to miss a beat, but the video skips. This video "skipping" happens in a few places. 9:01 is another weird one; watch that white van. It's almost as if you're switching from one camera to another. Does that mean you were wearing 2 cameras at the same time, and switching back and forth between the video tracks in editing? Certainly you weren't fiddling with the GoPro *while* biking on those crazy streets, were you??? It's always a mystery figuring these things out! But I guess that's part of the fun! :)
Hey, Glad you enjoyed the video. Sorry for the late reply. We went on a short little Christmas vacation up to Siena and I got real behind on my channel stuff. So, I have an ebike so there are times when I am not pedaling but I'm pedaling most of the time. I have one Gopro mounted to a backpack mount that sits out over my shoulder on a gimbal. It always points forward. I have another Gopro that I hold in my left hand that I use when I want to look left or right. So at those times you mention, that is just me switching between the two cameras when I edit the video. I always make sure to hold them at the same level at the start and end of each time I film with the hand held camera. I have the hand held Gopro on a line so I can drop it at anytime if I need to use two hands to ride my bike. It can sometimes be a bit complicated but the ebike makes it a lot easier. In this video I had a Gopro 7 mounted and a Gopro 8 in my hand. Neither of those have the HL option. I have the 10 now but haven't tried it out on a bike yet. I hope all is going well. Happy New Year!
Amazing job with that hand camera; you managed to keep it very level. I can't believe you were juggling that camera while biking through some of those tight spots. Very nicely done! I notice that after you get to Porta Nuova (33:45), the frame rate for both cameras drops to 25 Hz for the remainder of the video. A horse and carriage appears suddenly, so apparently the post-Porta Nuova segment was filmed at a different time. Do you remember what happened with the cameras in the interim, for them both to switch to from 50 Hz to 25 Hz? Or was this something you did while editing?
*•°•☆Thank you for your videos! I get to see places that would never get to see. I watch them over and over. Lol.. I know that if I ever make it to these places, I will know where to go and how to get around!☆•°•*
Fantastic video. Some of my ancestors were from Palermo (others from Gangi). Is there [CC] for this video? You mention this in the description but UA-cam tells me there is no closed-captioning.
Hey, glad you enjoyed it. Sorry about that typo. No, I do not have CC on this video but I will be posting up a 3 hour walking tour of Palermo soon which will include closed captions. For the bike tours I figure things move kind of fast and it would be hard to read and watch at the same time.
Yowsa, you are fearless at those intersections.😲 I have to keep reminding myself that if you'd got hit by a car that day, we wouldn't be seeing this because your camera would have gotten squashed when you did. But it might be a good idea if you, you know, just "forget" to tell your Mom when you post the city bike tours. She really doesn't need to see these, I don't think. 😱
Well..the camera doesn't show everything. I can see all the cars approaching and can time my intersections pretty well. :) I don't know if my mom saw this one or not. You're right though...probably best she didn't. :)
Palermo is unpretentious yet grand somehow. Becoming genteel with drivers heeding traffic lights now? I liked the soft light and occasional sprinkles of my spring visit.
