New owner here. Love your videos and resources. Do you have a video on how to use the floater? Couple questions I have are: 1. How open should the floater be? 2. Should the floater stay in the hot tub always? Like when in use or can it be taken out as to not bob around and be a nuisance while we are using it? Should it remain in the hot tub when not in use and the cover is on? Thanks so much!
1:57 you say bromine tablets don't work well in an inline system. Why would it be any different than a floating device? Just confused because I'm hoping to use tablets in my inline system once my last frog cartridge is empty. I would prefer to not have a floater if I can use the inline. Anytime the heater kicks on, the inline would be used. Anytime the jets are on, the inline would be used. My tub also cycled water multiple times a day which would use the inline system.
Instead of using Sodium Bromide and an oxidizer (to make active bromine) when adding fresh water, can you just add a few scoops of the pure Bromine powder from the bottom of your Bromine tablet container to get the Bromine levels up quickly since the dissolving tablets will slowly add and maintain levels? Seems like a good use for the 15-20 tablets worth of powder in the bottom of a 5 pound tablet container.
When would you ever use bromine granules? Could you use bromine granules initially to balance the bromine and then keep the bromine level steady by utilizing tablets week to week?
My local pool and spa place told me to use chlorinating granules (Spapure is what they sold me, 97% sodium dichloro) and oxidizing shock (non-chlorine) and bromine tablets with the floater. I assume I should never use these chlorinating granules and get both a bromine booster and possibly a chlorine shock?
Why is it that I get my bromine level where it should be, I test it a day later and it's not registering any. Then I shock it and the level comes back up? I would need to shock it every day to maintain a constant level.
Looks like in Canada it's really hard to get bromine products because they "banned" the use of sodium bromide with oxidizer, ozonation, and UV systems. It's hard to tell, but it looks like they're mostly worried about salt water bromine generators? But sounds like you might need to avoid it.
What's a good hot tub test kit for someone that had a hard time with seeing colors? Also, do they make an automated system for hot tub chemicals and water testing like they do for a regular pool?
Go for a digital test kit! What kind of automated system are you looking for? There are in-line systems you can install for mineral dispensers and sanitizers.
@@SwimUniversity I was wondering if there was an automated system for monitoring water tests and/or dispensing the proper chemicals. I'm really bad about the weekly maintenance and water upkeep.
Thank you for the video. Using bromines tablets in a floater but nothing happens, been in the water for 4 dsys and dont solve up and cant read any bromine level on my test stick...what im doing wrong?! Living in Sweden and cant find anywhere Bromin Booster, only non clorine chock buy not Bromin Booster
I hope you can help with my issue I have tried to find an answer all over the internet. Here goes: I opened my above ground pool a few days ago and I have it half full (above the return hoses so I can run the filter pump). I adjusted my pH successfully then added liquid chlorine at bedtime. This was a few days ago. Last night I added chlorine stabilizer, then a few hours later added enough chlorine to shock it then ran the pump all night. Today when I tested the water with my strips it was reading positive for bromine. How can this be when I have absolutely NO bromine anywhere?
New hot tub owner here, help please! I use bromine tabs in a chem connect on my inflatable hot tub. Everything on my test strip is perfect except bromine is testing 0, the water is slightly greenish, i have never shocked it but it's only been set up for a few weeks. Why would it be reading 0 bromine every time, I never added excess amounts of bromine , what am I missing
Seriously? All those chemicals for a little tub of water? How about bromine tablets & chlorine shock once a week and check the ph levels? That seems enough work for me but I'm just cheap and lazy.
Sonif i dont use a bromine floater..the bromine granilars are a good option? Im swithcing from chlorien bc of a built in Ozonator whixh just rats up Free chlorine

Thanks for the video. First hot tub coming this weekend and this video was very helpful in preparing for the delivery.
What a great video. Been struggling with surging cya in my chlorine hot tub and I’m switching right now to bromine so thanks for the great video
Glad I could help!

Can u do a video for those using the bromine generator system? Particularly the gecko in clear system.

Yes! You could crush up several tablets and put them in the water to build that bromine reserve
Can you use chlorine shock, when you are using bromine?
Does bromine tabs lower “PH” levels?
When would you ever use bromine granules? Could you use bromine granules initially to balance the bromine and then keep the bromine level steady by utilizing tablets week to week?
You could do that.
Yes! I do that exact thing to my spa. Works well!

Do you recommend bromine granules with UV sanitization? I’m in Canada and our bromine granule packaging says not to use it with UV sanitization. )):

Ya, that’s a great thought James! Did you ever find a system?
@SwimUniversity yes like what they have for pools
My hot tub already has chlorine in it from chlorine tablets do I need to drain the water before putting bromine in there?
Yes, you shouldn't mix the two.

Chorine and bromine will show up the same color on test strips it is completely fine you have no problem whatsoever it is completely normal
@@Dolcanes I thought maybe this was the case but I wanted to check with someone who is more versed in pool chems first. Thank you for your response!

Hmm. Did you jumpstart your Bromine Levels (Sodium Bromide) like we talked about at 02:16?

Yes, a floater is more convenient but granules are fine too
