    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    The new Corsair RM series, the 2019 is not actually in the name, so that mix-ups are actually pre-programmed, rely on completely new techniques to make the power supplies fit for the upcoming updates of the ATX specification. The new specification recommends 70% efficiency at 2% load, which currently only very few power supplies can do. But the RM 2019 can do it and even more!

    Also, I read your review on the RM650.750 and 850. At the end of the review you stated that you and corsair were in contacts to further investigate the problems with the 650 version. Did you get new samples? were the problems ever fixed? hope to hear from you, I am planning to get a RM650 :)

      The first versions also had start problems, which Corasir wanted to fix. The problem was more severe with rm650 than with the larger ones.
      I have to talk to some colleagues and see how the last status of Corsair is, the latter might take a while because the employee is sick

      @@tweakpc Thank you very much for your hard work! Me and a lot of people really appreciate what you guys are doing. I was going to choose between the Corsair RM650 (2019) and the new Seasonic GX-650. Which one would you recommend? Also, will you guys be doing a review on the new GX-650? I can't find any reviews on the internet at all, it's crazy to think a famous PSU series still has not been reviewed hehe. I think it is safe to assume that they have fixed the issue with the older version (Seasonic Focus Plus) randomly turning off/blackscreen due to problems with compatibility between certains GPUs, namely the GTX 970 and Vega 56/64 GPUs.

      @@Woopdeedew Not your fault, the new name is irritating. Yes, we had one here, I have to look, because Robert did it for a print magazine. Apparently they fixed the shutdown problem, but these peaks are now affecting Ripple.

    hey hello maybe you could help me figure out something. whether such a phenomenon is normal. I have a corsair rm 650 2021 version and I am wondering about the operation of the fan. My point is that when it turns on a benchmark that causes a high load on it, enough for the fan to turn on. even if I turn it off immediately after the fan starts, it will run for at least 15 minutes despite the fact that the load will not be anymore. is it normal in these power supplies that this fan, when it turns on, has a certain time of operation, despite the fact that the load is no longer there. because when I load it for 15 minutes and turn off the load then it stops after a while. and when I cause a temporary load then it will also rotate 15 minutes. is something like this normal? or is it a defect

    • @tweakpc
      @tweakpc  2 роки тому

      It,s normal the Fan is Temperature and load Controlled

    • @zgl7248
      @zgl7248 2 роки тому +1

      @@tweakpc thanks for the answer . but in the case that I gave there is no temperature or load, so why does the fan spin for 15 minutes. is it some kind of waiting by the power supply after it temporarily got a high load? is it done so that it won't turn on and off too often?

    • @tweakpc
      @tweakpc  2 роки тому

      @@zgl7248 When you load the power supply, the temperatures in the power supply increase. The rest of the hardware also generates waste heat. Therefore, the PSU does not immediately switch off the fan when the CPU/GPU load drops, but with a delay.

    • @zgl7248
      @zgl7248 2 роки тому

      @@tweakpc but including, for example, the furmark test for the processor and gpu for 5 seconds it will not generate any higher temperature and the fan spins 15 minutes anyway and only a temporary high load which is not so high at all because my whole system 100 loaded with a maximum load of 350W. and the second thing was that I tested the power supply outside the pc case. So due to the temperature, it's not for sure.When testing power supplies, did you meet and think that such a long passive state is normal? because as for me it looks like programmed because always looking at the time it comes out exactly the same

    • @tweakpc
      @tweakpc  2 роки тому

      @@zgl7248 sure there may also be a timing element. This is a feature so the fan will not constantly switch on off if the load changes often. Some units have this, especially newer corsair that have digital controlled fans. I have not yet testet the rm 2021, only rmx 2021.

  • @Woopdeedew
    @Woopdeedew 4 роки тому +1

    So, the PWM change that increases ripple only happens when you have very low load right? if you are not using low load it will stay on LLC resonant and will only change to burst mode if the PSU is using low load? I

    • @tweakpc
      @tweakpc  4 роки тому +1

      no not exactly, the problem is not at low load but at the threshold of the operating mode when switching from low load to normal operation.
      So there was actually only a problem if you were unlucky, because to operate a PC exactly at this threshold

    Thank you for the very informative video. Should I be worried for buying the RM750 (Chinese capacitors) instead of the RM750x (Japanese ones) for my Ryzen 3950x, single video card build? I regret about not reading more before making the decision. Are Japanese capacitors that much more reliable? I don't plan to overclock but am worried after finding out there are Tier PSU lists. @TweakPC thank you!

    • @tweakpc
      @tweakpc  4 роки тому +2

      No, not really, firstly Corsair gives a guarantee and secondly the Japanese capacitor subject is highly exaggerated.
      The simple Japanese capacitors are also made in China. If you want to have really good Japanese capacitors you have to pay much more, I would say that in the lower price segment it can even happen that Taiwanese & Chinese capacitors are better.
