Grace did both of these herself - "Happy Songs" was done with Garage Band on her Macbook. Columbia, as a result, sent her a pro-grade microphone, a two input mixer, and Logic Pro X, an entry level professional Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). She used these to create "Faults". The key takeaway - she wrote, performed, and _produced_ both of these by herself.

Grace uses mics a lot when she records at home. She has the equipment.

Grace wrote and self produced these during the pandemic and never released either. She has written a ton of songs since she was 12, sometimes improvising them live on Instagram for her followers.

    Thanks
Cheezyxyz, great job. Grace has a differential in this new crop of artists, besides singing very well and having an impeccable voice, she is skilled in composing and producing her work, it is beautiful, she is great!
    "Success always"!!!

Thank you for reacting to these two hidden gems. Grace posted Happy Songs and a couple others in SoundCloud using her pseudonym. Word is they only got noticed because her sister told someone. Here's another in this vein, "An Hour Past Rain", a lyric poem with background music. Grace did all the audio at home, and a fan did the video.

During Pandemic Graces label sent her some equipment so she could record at home. I think Faults was made with that. Great song, that part near the end gives me strong Beatles vibes.
There are quite a few incredible unreleased songs Grace recorded at home or in her school dorm room, that we only got to hear because she played them on IG lives. We're hoping some will appear on her upcoming album.

An Hour Past Rain is really good stuff.... Faults is one of my favorites of hers.....The FAULTS video was a mic of all her music videos ...which you really need to watch too....

Regardless of what the music industry wants to do she is strong enough to say no and never, she is loved by millions and are in full support of her and her own music. I for one have been speak loud against mainstream media and the bogus music industry. Once they get their filthy hands on an artist to do as they want it is all crap, that is why so many artists today go Indie.

This particular song - she wrote the song,- the instrumentation is driving me out of my mind. Unusual. Never heard anythng like this. She is a little GENIUS and goes her own way. I don't think the music gods know what to do with her

Consider this. Disney gave Grace Vanderwaal The lead in not one, but 2 movies and included one of her originals in one. Now consider the properties that Disney owns by way of franchises. Star Wars for example. Yet it was Grace Vanderwaal's movie Disney chose to launch Disney plus with. They then gave her another one. They know what she will become. She''s only 19 years old. Simon called it on her AGT audition, "It's all you Grace, no gimmicks, just you." "She is going to be a pioneer in this industry."
    They see her coming.
Edit: Grace has stayed out of trouble. Rare thing.
She is one the the United States most famous persons around the world, yet no one knows exactly who she is. She won MTV Europe Award. Super Star in Japan. She's a multi millionaire by writing and performing her own music. She opened for Imagine Dragons, probably the biggest band on Earth right now or at the time, and she opened for Florence and The Machine.
Imagine Dragons was so taken by Grace, that at the end of her last song on tour, they made her cry. It's on you tube . Kinda shows you the profound respect the biggest people in show biz have for her. And then there's her Billboard Rising star Acceptance Speech and her performance of her original "Moonlight". Listen close and you'll hear the audience gasp when Grace sings the big notes. You can hear their astonished pleasure. She received one of the few standing ovations for both her speech and performance, I believe. There were definitely tears in the audience after she spoke. These were Hollywood's biggest.
Imagine when she is really seen here.

In Faults they are all little clips from some of her music videos.... I've loved Grace from day one and I'm turning 72 years old tomorrow.. her talent for writing songs transcends age as all great music should. If you follow her career from age 12 on it's as if, in each stage of her life, it's a completely different person. She's still discovering who she is and I think the music industry doesn't know what to do with her. I think they should give her free rein to do what she feels is best because when they try to pin her down she busts out of all the restrictions holding her back. She also does covers like noone else I've ever heard and across all genres of music.

I thank you for an excelent review of this one who is doing it her way. She put the industry on notice and told them at 12 she wants music that she writes not other writers lyrics that the big wigs want, i know that a lot more people are giving her positive comments but for some unknown reason they are not appearing on her U-Tube sites, yes she is a threat, i think the industry is so evil that they would gladly destroy a career because they are greedy, evil low lifes that only go for the money, not the excellent compositions artist believe in, get rid of the industry and music, real music will come back, no more stripping and talking about you private parts to get an Emmy award

She didn't exactly release them officially , these are self produce on her computer, she put Happy songs on Sound Cloud under a fake name and gave us a file to download on IG of Faults .

We don't call Grace "The queen of sad" for nothing. She does NOT want to write gratuitous "Happy Songs". This is her call to not need to write that pap. Read the poetry and envy the genius!

Good reaction. FanderWaals are getting too good at this when the video distracts from her song. I think there's over 40 of her songs on YT thanks to some hard working dedicated fans, some songs just as good, others better. While Billie and Rodrigo were flying Grace wrote tons of beautiful works and for some strange reason pretty much none of them got to the studio. Nope, no "they threw in" she did this on her computer program by her lonesome, her "bedroom recordings." I thought Faults had more to it and I was hoping you said as much about it as you did for Happy Songs.

Grace wants to write happy songs, but when she sits down to write music all the stuff in her life that has been dragging her down flows into her music. And she ends up with sad songs. Her label wants her to write happy songs, "something that will move all of their feet". But they don't understand her they don't understand her writing process. She doesn't even know herself.
