Nice video ! Is there any issues if you want to do alcohol distillation after you used the still for essential oil ? Will there be any oil residues in the condenser ?
Nice video! If you run the still too hot you get less oil and more hydrosol. With that much lavender you stuffed in the still you should have more oils. Lavender should be a lower temp to get a bigger yield of oil IMHO. At higher temp you also get a slight burnt smell on your oil and hydrosol. How is this still different?
Where did you hear that distilling liquor is legal in Canada? lol Not without a licence it's not. Just don't tell, and they'll probably leave you alone...a "friend" told me this. 😉
From what I’ve read steam distillation is really sped up in some setups like wagon loads of lavender flower. They speed it up by pressurizing the system which some say is bad for some types of essential oil. So maybe it works for some but I’ve heard it can be bad for others.
I enjoyed your this video, including mistake and then nicely covered correction. BTW what was the weight of cold raw lavender? and what was the EO was 23 ml and Florence water ?
i do have enjoyed your video , and gives me lots of ideas to trying this my self , thank you very much for your share , i am from belgium flanders ;-) Carl
How would you compare the final result to the extract made by percolation? Is it the same? Very different? If there are differences, do "normal" people (not someone like sensory/smell/taste master) are able to feel them?
Its almost as if you are putting the lavender in a thumper no? Why cant you just put the lavender in the first pot with the water and then condense it? thanks, tom
you will get less oil if you do it that way. With tough plants like rosemary that is the preferred way. Steam distillation is the way to go with laveneder.

Yeah when its cold shocked is best. Thats what we do with the ganja
ML you cannot weigh :) it is not water. Oil volume should be larger than water's, as it is lighter weight
