You did such a superb job giving us a glimpse of a place that receives almost no attention in North America. Very impressive place except for the heat and air pollution. Am not naïve. All places have pretty significant social and political issues! Liked seeing people everywhere. Those were some incredible stairs!! You made it look easy climbing them! Terrific panoramic views! Drive or walk around a lot of North American cities and it seems like there’s no one there. Talk about ghost towns! Most surprising thing is how people Madagascar seem to be height weigh proportioned. Didn’t see anyone that looked obese. Great footage. Seeing this amazing place-Antananarivo-is a case study of sorts of the enormous beauty, variety, and complexity in the world in which we live. To me, the streets weren’t chaotic; they were vibrant!

You can't walk a few meters without seeing people so skinny that you can nearly see their bones; that work require 4 times the physical activity a normal human can do just to get $50 a month half of which will be stollen back by govt anyway 😢 I make about 10 to 15 times that but still sad tho. On a positive note, I've been visiting the South-Estern part of the country a week ago. I've been to Isalo, one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Even tho it was also the worst trip I've ever been on. About 38 to 40 hours in total inside a very small and uncomfortable Hyundai Starex van, on the worst roads of the planet. Madagascar language is similar with my country indonesia, indonesia in Asia and Madagascar in Africa how can happen it with a thousand Kilometres distance, thats interesting facts.
Austronesian navigators (not necessarily Indonesians) were the first settlers of Madagascar and their descendants (Merina people) with Indian, Arab, European and African contributions form the ethnic base of Madagascar. Antananarivo, meaning "City of the Thousand" in English (according to Wikipedia). Probably originates from the Malay words "Tanah Seribu" which means "Land of the Thousand" (in Malay, tanah=land; seribu=a thousand). I am a Malay (which is an Austronesian group) from Malaysia.
Madagascar people have faces like people in the Maluku Islands and the Eastern Lesser Sunda Islands (part of Indonesia). They are of mixed descent between Melanesian (dark skinned) and Austronesian (brown skinned)
check out claude.ai for this type of question. It answered your question with this response: Yes, forms of Indonesian language are still spoken in Madagascar, though not as primary languages. The connection stems from the island's historical settlement. Madagascar's primary language, Malagasy, is actually part of the Austronesian language family, which includes Indonesian and other languages of Southeast Asia. Malagasy is believed to have originated from a language spoken in what is now southern Borneo. While Malagasy has evolved significantly over centuries and incorporated influences from other languages (particularly African Bantu languages and Arabic), it still retains many Austronesian features in its vocabulary and grammar. Linguists estimate that about 90% of Malagasy vocabulary is of Austronesian origin. So while you won't find people speaking modern Indonesian in Madagascar, the Malagasy language itself is a distant relative of Indonesian languages, reflecting the island's unique settlement history.

Nosy Be is better, the only reason I land in Tana is because the flights to Nosy Be are much more expensive for some reason.
@@pddembowski I see. Ok, flights cost to compare when decided to go. Thks
Thank you for showing my wonderful country.
"Le Louvre", j'ai passé une nuit dans cet hôtel, c'est magnifique à l'intérieur, c'est un bon souvenir. 😊
Il faut venir à Diego suarez la prochaine fois, les plage sont magnifiques
j'ai voyagée a Diego 2 fois, oui c'est bien la bas. J'ai fait quelques vidéos là-bas aussi...
bonjour, Madagascar ! de la Kabylie; reportage intéressant bonne continuité .
Merci bien. Bonne journee
Hi. How is Madagascar in terms of security?🤔
Depends which city, Tana is sketchy during the night, heard a few reports of armed robberies of tourists..Almost anywhere else is safe day or night in my experience.
Avoid wandering around any towns after sunset unless you're accompanied with locals or driving.
Tontolo lehibe.
Mbola raiki-pitia amin'ny antsojay ataon'ny malagasy ny masoandro !
Misaotra betsaka ho an'ny lahatsary
Kwaheri.
Honestly, I didn't expect this beautiful country to be so diverse.
thanks for your vid, lmao with your comment on La Gastronomie, they do very nice ice cream taste it ! 😀
Ok I'll try it during my next visit to Madagascar
How’s the danger level? Getting robbed a worry?
For sure. Don't go there. Can't walk in Tana at night.
Just don't show off your phone or other expensive things and you are good. And avoid walking at night.
I am going to Madagascar next year for a few months. I hope to have some fun while there.
thaks for yor video I spent 10 days late 2022 just down where is your hotel before "la petite brasserie" didn't like the city because of the pollution the dirt the poverty and the climate (hot the day and cool the night) which make this city unhealthy for me but I really appreciated the Analakely market
Yes I agree, the Analekely market was nice - I did a video on it. The pollution also bothers me after a few days.
Beautiful! So what brings you back to Madagascar all the time, if I may ask Sir?? I should check it out!
I seem to go to a country quite often till I want a change. I went to Jamaica 13 times between 2010-2016 haven't been back since. Madagascar is a hard place to travel but there are nice people, beaches, not expensive, good food, etc...
@@pddembowski Very Interesting indeed Sir! I can understand! You want to Explore a country! I went to Türkiye 3 times and want to go back, even though I’ve been to other countries since. Going to Jamaica in August though, so I might go back there again instead loool 🤣
With nice people he means girls. What did you expect?
@@Andre-yd1ed Bingo. Nice people is code word for nice girls. It's obvious from his videos this is why he goes to Uganda and other places to get girls that's impossible for him to get in Canada
When is the best month for holidays in Madagascar?
I miss this country so bad. Very different from South Africa but I love it
I think Madagascar is beautiful I love it
Antananarivo, meaning "City of the Thousand" in English (according to Wikipedia). Probably originates from the Malay words "Tanah Seribu" which means "Land of the Thousand" (in Malay, tanah=land; seribu=a thousand). I am a Malay (which is an Austronesian group) from Malaysia.
Those Steps are Many!!
Wussup Paul im still waiting for new content from Madagascar much love from South Africa
"La gastronomie, a terrible fastfood place" best description
🤣🤣🤣
Why is there a fence around the park, do they lock it up at night?
I'm not sure if they lock it up every night, but I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case.
Watching from Java Indonesia
Madagascar people have faces like people in the Maluku Islands and the Eastern Lesser Sunda Islands (part of Indonesia). They are of mixed descent between Melanesian (dark skinned) and Austronesian (brown skinned)
Is any form of Indonesian language still spoken in Madagascar?
check out claude.ai for this type of question.
Tana le rouge
Thank you for the memories
For tourists where to do their laundry? For how much?
In Tanzania is crazy expensive 1 shirt or per of socks to wash was 5$ USD 😢😢.🇨🇦
Is better to buy some hand soap at the local Shoprite and wash your own clothes in shower. You can get it done by the cleaning ladies in hotels but it is usually overpriced.
fascinating.... as one of the poorest countries, it suprisingly doesn't look too bad. Not saying its wealthy or anything, but definitely much better than the stats seems
Well, as a local, I can assure you it's just in surface. The vlogger seemed to (purposefully) not show any of the actual worst parts of the city and they're like a 5mn walk away from where he was strolling around.
Forget Africa!
Madagascar is cleaner, everywhere than many European countries (I traveled 3.100 Kms).
The food is delicious and it cost 3 to 6€.
Malgaches are timid, educated, and friendly.
Children are beautiful and always laughing even though they don't have expensive toys except those that are manufactured with great creativity and ingenuity.
Madagascar is TOP.
I agree with what you said..., I was thinking of going to west Africa this year or Kenya, but I will be going to Madagascar again.
It's not hot there, 26C is just perfect. I'm in Cambodia right now and it's 38C here. That's a little too hot for me.
Going to be a big shock going back to Toronto next month 😢
yes 38c is too hot for me as well. Antananarivo is usually colder than other cities in Madagascar. For example: in Majunga 38c is common.
Can you get a ground level place with its own entrance, or are apartment blocks the only option?
it's a big city I'm Sure there are quite a few places like that for rent.
hey paul whats up, i follow you and 1 other guy videos and love it, im comin first time for 2-3 mounths this summer very exciting, were do you learn parlé en francais, i live in quebec ,
HI, I lived in Paris for 4 years back in the day. The Quebec accent is very different, I hope they will understand you haha. good luck on your trip.
@@pddembowski MERCI BEAUCOUP FRIEND I REALLY LIKE YOUR VIDEO ITS VERY INSPIRING, NOT TOO MUCH g.o.o.d. CONTENT IS DONE ABOUT TRAVELING IN MADAGASCAR KEEP THE GOOD WORK GOING THANKS AGAIN
allo mon ami Paul, thanks to have respond me, sorry for the delay, hope that you enjoying every city you go,@@pddembowski
Interesting country🤩👏
Bonjour
There are sooo many good places for food if you know where to go. Same for activities. Tbh visiting with a local young person would be much more interesting than visiting with a tour guide. The guide will just take you to some Malagasy sites but the young local will show you what's the real life
Yes, Madagascar has many good restaurants in most cities. I did'nt realize that until I went there the 1st trip.
why you people from Madagascar so quiet from the new.. o decided to Google how you live here..am from Zimbabwe
Did you notice the same Old man passing through at the beginning end ending of video at the same location? 00:54 and 16:15
No I did not notice that. Good observation.
So many cool old French cars
So u speak malagasy too ?(like me)
I know a few words. People laugh when I say them there jaja. I'm trying learn some more.
I wonder what's the job and unemployment situation in Madagascar; is it good or bad?
Very Good Video
Juste wanted to know is there any changes for the visa requirements for Canadians in 2024 ? I should be there end of april ..leaving from montréal 👍🏿👍🏿
Love your videos 👍🏿
Hi, no changes for this visit. I should point out, if you are a tourist it is a good idea to carry your passport. Easter weekend here in Diego was full of police stopping all bajajs, asking drivers for permits and any foreigners for passport. If you don't have it, it will cost you. I'm not sure if a high quality duplicate will work, probably not.
@@pddembowski ok thanks👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
I really enjoyed the video! I'm curious, how did you manage to film it with your camera without attracting the attention of potential thieves? It must have been tricky to keep your camera hidden and secure in such a busy area known for theft.
It's a GoPro 10 mounted to my body. I don't think this area is unsafe during the daytime. Of course, waving an expensive phone around is not advisable.
Yooo, thanks for visiting my country❤
welcome, I will be back there in a few months, miss Madagascar already
