13:46 The sound of the body dropping was Nate doing that for real in the studio, and the sound of the can rolling was also practical Also, the 911 Operator was voiced by the wife of Nate's producer, Tommee Profitt
It's an amazing portrayal of the situation. I've been robbed twice and gunpoint. Every thing slows down, you can her your own heartbeat as you're trying to just not panic and get the robber out of the store as fast as you can.
Listened to this song when it came out. Instant goosebumps. Any time it comes on on Spotify, goosebumps. Any time I see this on youtube again, goosebumps. This time? Guess what? Goosebumps. NF has what a lot of people do not. He has the skills to put together the perfect song. Whoever worked on this music video is a genius to make it fit exactly NF's wordplay and tone. If anyone has seen Rust movies that a lot of talented people make, these are almost like that. There are just certain people that're talented that we can not afford to lose, hopefully everyone understands that.
Right! After hearing/seeing this video, I WILL NOT go into a store of ANY KIND without my phone. Even if it's just to pay for gas. Made me really sit and think about how quickly something could happen.
Notice how NF voice changes according to who is present in the scene, when it's the girl calm and slow when it's the robber, the voice is aggressive and fast. Also this can be a story told by his mom to him.
The craziest thing in my opinion and most like.... WOW moment is after the cashier takes out the guys. "Cashier asks if I'm ok he's dialing 911".. read that again.. Cashier asks if I'M OK. This man has been SHOT, and is so collected he can call the cops and his concern isn't himself its if his customer is ok. WOW
Anytime I listen to just the audio of this song on my copy of the mixtape, I always imagine the scenes from this video. Nate really knows how to throw in a plot twist too lol! He has said before in interviews that Inception is his favorite movie and even said a couple years ago that an instrumental from that movie, composed by Hans Zimmer, was his favorite song at the time. That goes to show where him and Tommee get the inspiration for the cinematic production throughout his catalog.
I put this in top 10 storytelling rap songs of all time and one of the better put together videos I've seen in a long time . I've seen it a few hundred times now and it still gets me goin a bit
The man managed to weave in foreshadowing, structure it with a beginning, middle, and an end with a rising and falling action, and tie the end in with the beginning; in a music video. Bro. You better start writing novels and short stories.
I think he actually went through this and the women just represents it can happen to anyone. A first person account and the emotion. Sounds to me like he knows first hand what it's like to be in this situation.
I went to copy paste my usual message but noticed UA-cam never put it down for my streaks. So Day 1 “Pray 4 Shakewell” album or “The Foil & The Damage Done” by Shakewell
This may be a fictional encounter, but this is one of the reasons i carry a firearm everyday. im not putting my life in the hands of someone willing to point a gun at a cashier over a few dollars.
nice, I was wondering if you were gonna get to this one when I saw you did some other NF stuff. 👍 kinda disappointed when I heard you already saw it though. ☹️
Song suggestion Too Short - Gettin it Pretty good story if you listen to the lyrics, old song, about 10 or 12 years old I think, i cant remember.. good song tho 👍🏽
Please do one for the women. React to Dear Nova. It’s an amazing song she writes to herself and about everything she’s been through. She’s uploaded and it’s official but it’s on a pseudonym channel. H1989 I think it’s called.
Crazy fan theory incoming: After some extensive internet research of my own, I could not locate any credible source for Nate's mother's first name. What if Erin of this story was Nate's mom? In one of the few happy memories he holds with her, he sees her telling him and his sister an exaggerated bedtime story. Nate goes on to dramatize this further, because that is what mom would've wanted. Further schematics that point to this include the region that we know his mom lived would've been a prime location for crimes of this nature. Erin is a smoker, as Nate's mom was. The woman in the video seems to be in a similar socioeconomic class as Nate's mom had been. I'm not all for unproven fan-fiction, but this is one I really wish was true.
Yeah, this is a badly executed copy of Joyner Lucas music and videos. No originality. You'd do better reacting to Joyner if you want actually talented storytelling rap like this, not this poor imitation track... Although Joyner's have actual meaning, not just being weirdly violently graphic as if that's worth doing...
you obviously haven't listened to nf. His raps have far more substance than Joyner's stuff. This song isn't unnecessarily violent, it's realistic. Moral of the story, don't worry about the mundane, be grateful for every moment in life because it can all change in an instant
@@shadowproductions969 Lol since this video includes NF, that's a fairly silly comment to try making; 'you obviously haven't listened to nf'. You realise NF can be bad at something right? It's not about morals of the story, or having a good message - it's 'how well is the story being told, how well written is it, and is it original or a copy of work that came out in recent years - but at a technically poorer quality'. That's a different conversation to 'I liked this song and NF's message, not Joyner's'.

Tommee and Nate, the freakin dream team. They need to make a full length film.
Love how the beat changes when her heart beat goes up
The rhythm of this track messes with my heartbeat. My heart starts pounding an I realize I'm holding my breath.
Same...

That part still gets me too...
“ icing on the cake ”
So relatable... I mean, like what else could go wrong now next...

Oh my god this music video gives me chills. It doesn’t matter if I’m watching it or listening to it in the car. I find myself holding my breath
Yes! The first robber was Nate. Good call! 😊
Look when he says pass the garbage. The trashcan is in the foreground but the garbage she is passing is the beer section
😳😳😳
He gave away the mask at a show at the DTE Music theater in Michigan ( i was there, it was a great show).
One of my favorites of his. Didn't want it to end! Leaves you wanting to know what happens next.
Told me he "dabbles in real estate". Well... apparently he kinda does.
Been waiting on this one! Nice work T! 🍻
Thanks Michael😊👍

For sure.. I would say 1 is dance with the devil, pretty harsh though.
@@Len_M. definitely that one set the bar very high even back then
i would just put darkness by eminem higher, purely for the fact the whole song is a double entendre
Lol y'all never heard of Joyner Lucas.........
@@alexps6060 Joyner has so many but ross cap and keep it 100 are both top 10
Did anyone else notice he looked like count Dracula because of what is behind him?
This a great one even without the video you can see it play out in your head
Finally! Such a captivating song and video.
The initial guy with a gun is NF. This is just next level story telling. It's the equivalent of being able to rap the phone book.
I was saying that to my wife last night about the song BREATH off of Therapy Session.
Feels like I’m holding my breath alot
