I taught my brother how to play this game when he was little. I had a great teacher my grandma could beat S&K 3 and Knuckles with all 14 Emeralds collected and could beat the Doomsday Zone I lost her in 2013 miss you 💗
Now that's a woman with some skill. I'm sorry for your loss, but it sounds like you've got some great things to treasure when remembering her that will always be with you and these games, something you shared with your brother as well. It's a beautiful thing in its own right. Keep that memory strong.
InvisibreadInc Hell if I know. The only thing I had to buy for it was the composite cable. It had a controller and AC adapter already included. Coincidentally it also had the Turbo Touch 360, which was rated one of IGN's top 10 worst controllers of all time. xD
Sonic 3 really did deliver some of the best music in any of the Sonic games. The multiplayer stuff deserves a special mention as they saved some of the best stuff for it!
Was just listening to this on repeat for a while while my mind wandered...and then it hit me. Chrome Gadget. This song was written in chromatic scale. HOLY SHIT
Actually, it seems to start in A minor, then modulate to Ab Major, then the "bridge" is in Bb major. Not quite chromatic, but all 3 keys have half steps between them. :)
I think Mad Pistol is right. Song is in Am and modulates to keys which are half steps away from it. Also, some chord inversions as in 00:30 (D# - Bb/D) create some short chromatic bass lines, but I don't see it is entirely based on the chromatic scale.
This could be a cool underground discotheque level underneath the Marble Garden mountains. It would lead you through some colorful mines and eventually to a theme park- the one with Carnival Night.
@@natcharmusic Not only those, but the Miniboss theme, Knuckles's *b e a t* and credits theme from S3 standalone are all made by his group as well. These three *were* replaced in S&K, and later on S3&K, but they were still made by MJ.
This song always takes me back. I was around 6-7 years old when this game was released. Although it was just me, I remember playing the multiplayer stages just to listen to the music. Hearing this song, endless mine and azure lake always make me feel so nostalgic.
This music was with me most part of my life, and was a key agent when I fought depression. I dunno how or why, but it helped me keep going through 2 divorces over my life. I wish I could thank the composer eye to eye.
The original Sonic trilogy instantly takes me back to the 90s. In '95, some neighbors of mine gave the original Sonic game. Sometime later, my cousin and I fell in love with Sonic 2. Around Easter 1998, my mom and grandma got me Sonic 3. After renting Sonic & Knuckles, it took me YEARS to find a copy for sale but one of my dad's coworkers gave me it for free around 1999/2000. I still have the OG carts somewhere in my possession, and I will never let them go. Much like the memories.
I had this song stuck in my head and I didn’t know what the name of it was. I spent more then a week listening to genesis Sonic music until I finally found it, and it was in this game, the best classic Sonic game.
I'm 34 and to this day I think Chrome Gadget is one of thse most epic songs in sonic 3 that was poorly used in some shitty multiplayer it is about as Sinful as Sonic 2's Death Egg that most people to this day have only heard 3 seconds of that song.
I remember listening to this while we were driving to our grandparents house and the sky had become pitch black. In the distance, I could see towers with blinking lights, which reminded me of the stage itself.
OMG! I still have this game but its on the Sonic Mega Collection on Gamecube. Lol. Listening to this song makes me think about the city. I love the background too on that stage. It was very satisfying and the background fitted perfectly with the song. I love Sonic and Sonic 3!
i remember listening to this on my iPod while riding the Hulk Coaster at Islands of Adventure once. The one regret i have is that this was during the day. hopefully, i'll be able to listen to it while riding Disney World's Space Mountain (Insert needless but obligatory Ric Flair "WOOOO!!" here) when it's re-opened in november
@LynkxMan I completely and TOTALLY agree. I think this is the best song and stage in the game. If only it was a single player stage and not just a vs stage.
I hate myself a couple of weeks ago I was at work closing and for no reason no reason at all I started thinking about this song and just really the first few seconds
Talk about nostalgia trip... From a time when you actually remembered the music in games. This music rocks. There is nothing like it. So pumped for Sonic 4! Glad they're taking it back to its side-scroller roots! For some reason, Sonic just don't work that well in 3d. They tried though, it's just not the same. This is actually a pretty complex song. So much harmony with an unusual chord progression. Which is probably why I remember it so much. Long live Sonic the Hedgehog! The best game ever!
Chrome Gadget has always confused me. I know it's a competition zone, but it looks so dark and foreboding, yet this is the track they went with.... Oh well, gives me another S3&K track to Jam out to.
YEAH DUDE, THAT IS JUST AWESOME!!! It woulda been more AWESOME if you blasted this in your boom car from your iPod, it would also been awesome if the Hulk Coaster had an MP3 jack and speakers of its own!
Favorite race track. 2023 and three of these race tracks are still not actual stages yet. Azure Lake, Chrome Gadget and the Endless Mines are just begging for that in the future. Baloon Park has a similar level in the advance game, and Sandopolis was made full in a Sonic 3 hack years back.
@spicyechidna94 Streets of Rage 2! Thunderforce 4! Shinobi 3! Sonic 3 had great tunes but those 3 games were head and shoulders above anything else, musically! (in my opinion!)
Still hopeful that Sonic Mania 2 (whenever it arrives, as it must) will have Tee Lopes including a remix of this. Can’t believe it was relegated to a multiplayer level in the original title
Amo este sonido bendito fue el que creo este tema este tema expresa que quieres felicidad a todo costa pero el camino es dificil pero si te lo propones lo lograras
@zabeon: A simple way of explaining it, would be to just to repeat a loop in the song. It's not always easy. As for Sonic 4, those songs have multiple loops, so that should be fairly easy.
YEAH DUDE!!! I also like instrumentals because trying to dance to music with lyrics is like mixing water with electricity. And to put more thought into it, electric components made for marine applications cost more money similar to how people have more balls to dance to music with lyrics; but pretty soon that habit is going to bottom out!
mine is still in a Very Good condition. i still have the original box and game manual for Sonic 3. that is probably worth alot now that it is 15 years old. wait till its 20th.

a perfect song to listen to at night
true :D

a perfect song to listen at night while taking the train, watching city lights by the window

I think Mad Pistol is right. Song is in Am and modulates to keys which are half steps away from it. Also, some chord inversions as in 00:30 (D# - Bb/D) create some short chromatic bass lines, but I don't see it is entirely based on the chromatic scale.
+digiangel234 I gotta learn how to do that sometime. ;)
I don't even know what you guys are talking about but it sounds amazing
I like the vibe that this song gives off, it would've been cool to have a level like this after Marble Garden and then have Carnival Night.
If you hear Prototype music (before MJ hired in sonic) Carnival Night and Launch Base, it will be similar music like this probably same composer?
This could be a cool underground discotheque level underneath the Marble Garden mountains. It would lead you through some colorful mines and eventually to a theme park- the one with Carnival Night.
I feel like Chrome Gadget would have been a better final level than Launch Base (even though it wasn’t originally supposed to)
Whoever composed this is an absolute genius
Michael Jackson composed most of the soundtrack but abruptly stopped because he was pissed at sega lol
@@Obkool27 actually, I think he composed around 3 songs

Lots of times after 1st grade I would put the sound test on and listen to this song when I did my homework after school. Good times. :p

Who else purposely died so they could see the rest of the stage's background they WASTED on multiplayer?

Master Egil yes, one of the best in any game. I usually stayed on the razor lift until it got low enough to see it better.

Who has been killed by the platform as it came down during a two player?
It is really annoying!

One of my fav songs of all Sonic soundtracks.
I always thought it was kind of weird (but awesome) how the music in the racing levels was better than the music in most of the regular levels.

I love this song!
I love this tune, it's melancholic, but fairly full of action. An interesting blend that makes for an awesome piece of music. :-)
I'm always want to drive at night whenever I hear this song
