Sensei, I study Goju in the USA. We have a series of partner exercises that we call Kiso Kumite. They're a two-step sparring exercise. There are five sets, each of increasing difficulty/technique level, and each has 6 attack/response combos. When I began in Goju, and for many years after, I assumed they were part of the general Goju curriculum, but in recent years, have come to realize they must be very specific to our branch, which is Jinbukan, a sub-branch of Shoreikan, established by Kanei Katsuyoshi Sensei. Are you familiar with Kiso Kumite, or ever heard this term? Arigato Gozaimasu.
Hi Yes I came across the term when I was looking at the Goju Ryu book by Touguchi Sensei. Looks like there are several variations based on different dojos and styles out there. I’d have to do a chunk of research before doing a video on it. Our closest items are the 3step training and jiyu Ippon kumite Hope this helps Che
