I just started reloading 7.62x54R, the S&B brass i have has very shallow primer pockets and doesnt let me seat CCI primers to the correct depth. With this tool it has allowed me to fix this issue! Thank you K&M shooting for this wonderful product.
This design is preferable over traditional hand tools and case prep stations because it uses the whole base of the case as datum, not just the center of it. This can lead to more consistent primer seating depth since every priming tool that I can think of uses the whole base of the case (minus the center) as datum.
Do you have tool to expand the pocket to the correct diameter? I have tools to remove the crimp, but that isn't the issue. I use a hand priming tool and with certain brands of brass the pocket is just too tight. And I'm talking about 9mm commercial brand brass that has no crimp,. They just won't go in and get crushed or flattened. For years I have used the RCBS swaging tool, and it works OK, but was looking for something better. Any thoughts?
Hey Al, our Primer Pocket tools are intended to pilot by the primer pocket. We don't have a tool to open up the diameter. You'd need a custom ground reamer or an endmill on a lathe or mill setup. ~Dave @ K&M
Buy once and cry once. I own both the K&M small rifle and the large rifle pocket tools. Both have stayed sharp and cleanly uniform the pocket. I have several primer pocket tools but the K&M tools cut faster and cleaner. I should of saved my money and bought the K&M tools first.
Hey Ballistic Arms, the cutter is factory set to 0.131" depth. If you'd like less depth-of-cut, the cutter is adjustable with an internal jack-screw and secured in place with the visible set-screw. Please send me an e-mail (sales@kmshooting.com) and I can give you more info on making the adjustment. ~Dave @ K&M
Hey Daniel, the responses are correct about not using this brass anymore. There are machines for roll-forming the head, but typically only for high-volume brass processing as they're quite expensive.
If you start your loads out on the hot side then your pockets will become loose probably after 3 or 4 fires it is easy to fix take a ball bearing I don't remember the size a little smaller then a marble then take a punch or a bolt you might have to grind down a bit to fit tight but not to tight down the neck place the bearing in the vise jaws do not tighten the jaws open just enough to hold the bearing and place the pocket over the bearing and hit the bolt or punch but not to hard and Check you can buy a go no go gage it works and works good but always check the case and make sure it is within spec you can also use a lee 380 die I think that's the die size and pull the guts and run your 223 through it and it will fix the head and tighten the primer pocket at the same time I don't know what dies for other cals or if it will even work I know it will for 223.
Hey Charles, great question. We don't have one now, but they are on the way - aiming for release before 2023... design and prototypes are done, just working through manufacturing details.
@@kmshooting if you get bored what would really be awesome is a quick change piece that would hold the shell casing while reaming. I’ve adapted my Giraud Super trimmer to use the RCBS crimp removal cutters which is fast 00:00:08 per cartridge but is hard on hands and fingers.
Hey Charles, bad news: there's no boredom is sight for us. Good news: we've got something in the works! Aiming to get'er launched before 2023.... barring crosswinds.

Glad it's working for you! Thanks for sharing the good news.
Tried several different tools for this job and stuck with the K+M. Great too, thanks!
Great to hear!
Now we need a Go-No-Go to measure loose pockets before priming so as to throw out the loose ones and not waste primers. Thanks!

Hey Rodolfo, you're spot on! Consistent primer pocket depth using the whole base as the reference/hard-stop.
Would this remove the crimp as well or would that need to be done with a different tool?
Hey Jason, the current primer pocket tool doesn't remove the crimp. Stay tuned for a product that does in the coming months.
Hello, will this tool be ideal for range brass also ? Or not needed ?
I use them on all my range brass.

Get a pocket swager. Mine is an RCBS. Separate out the cases that generally give you a problem and run them through your swager.
Do these need to have military crimps removed first or can they cut out the crimp?
They will not remove military crimps. You'll need to swage them.
Hey G5, the current primer pocket tool doesn't remove the crimp. Stay tuned for a product that does in the coming months.

Thank you! Having added this cutter and good, what is depth regulation, having adjusted it to 0.128" for 308 gauge. Greetings from Ukraine!
You are welcome! Glad we can support you.

When using this tool on Large primer brass on the lowest setting, primers are 15 thou under flush, is that normal?

How do I fix pockets that primer felt falls out
Throw them away!
Once a case head has expanded enough to let the primer fall out, the case is beyond its useful life. Recycle or throw those away.
