Nothing like knowing you saved money by making your own lift kit. Great work and great videos
Impressive. I had a similar idea but no time to actually fabricate. I'm actually about to order a lift and my oldest daughter and I will be installing it. Now I have to go back and find you video on your wrap job because I'm too cheap to do my own automotive paint job. lol
Just put the springs on top of the Axle because that's what I did and it works find. but I installed heavy leaf springs 5 leaf DS 2000 35 mile hour less swaying.
Excellent job on the wrap.... way better than my first attempt.
Thanks! Did the same on my rear to make 12s fit, but they didn't rub on the front. Appreciate the video! 96 DS cc.
I have a different cart but helped me out with the views and description from underneath. Adapt, improvise, overcome, I like your style.
Great job I did the same thing here on mine , I did 1 1/8 inch longer shackles and used the stock shock mounting holes and it rides great . .however I probably would suggest using his shock extender bracket due to how a shock works. .me using the stock hole with a 1 inch lift could make the shock stop in a upward motion from large movement but I live in hilly rough terrain and I haven't noticed anything odd with doing this! looks like I gained about 1 inch ride height , glad I did it and thanks to you! 🤠 went to Lowes and got steel plate 1/4 inch thick for shackles. .it was 16 bucks 👌
Very creative. Experience and hints from other UA-camRS, add 3 leaf springs and ditch the rear shocks.
Great video what size wheel and tire I bought 10inch low pros not sure if I need to lift I have not had a full load are your wheels 12inch?
looks good, I did an g-19 yamaha last year and it came out fine
Nice work.
You could have also just moved the rear leaf springs to above the axle instead of underneath.
I was thinking the same thing.
Yep but hey, let someone that doesnt know what they are doing teach someone else how to do it wrong lol
That would have given him way too much lift in the rear too
I came here to say this. He would have gotten the perfect height, the same shock mounts could have been used. It’s literally a free lift for the rears. Work smarter, not harder.
Nice job
I just did the same thing tires to big
Now made a spacer
How did you adjust the tow ?
Thanks in a million. Great content. Awesome imagination. Grade: A++💥
Thanks Jeff. I’m looking for a decent price golf cart back up here in metro Detroit and all I keep finding are pimped out ones for like $6k+
I am impressed. Gonna try the same thing on mine, only need about 2 inches. Thanks for the video.
Excellent explanation, why spend $1200 in parts and then labor if you can do it yourself, Great Job Brother👏👏👏
Nice job!
What was the distance center to center hole on the shackles? Thanks for the great content!
Very cool. I too have an ole Club Car DS , mine is an 85.
Did same on front & I moved my leaf spring on top of the axle which was a cheap kit. Works well.
Hey nice shop & lift!
What's needed to flip the rear leaf to the top of the axle? Any additional parts? Thx
@@mygt8a4re it was a very easy & inexpensive JAKES rear kit. This link takes you to a full kit but I only purchased this Jakes rear kit as a seperate .

@@erickessler6094 really appreciate the help! 👍
Pretty cool dude ! From canada
Great work man! Very Handy! Love the wrap! I have a older club car that needs some body love. Not sure if I want to paint it or wrap it. That wrap with the wheels look great! Keep up the great work man!
That was some bad a## work you did excellent work bro 💪💪💪 ☝
they sell a allium block 40 bucks for the ds to run 14 inch rims low profile tires that fits just like that on the front ...did the back rub?
Nice job
what size tires? I'm looking to go from 18" to 20" and hope I don't need to lift. If I do, what you did will probably sufice
How did you get the old top bolt and shackle off.
SS center caps are sweet.
Anyone who has done the lift in the font with a block, did it throw the front camber off? Did it cause your tires to wear uneven? Thx
Thanks for this info
Very cool. And excellent Fab work
How about the steering linkage? Anything there have to be changed?
What are the offset on those wheels? Nice wide stance. 2+5 possibly? Although the offset is probably what caught you on the body rubbing...
Can't be sure until I get my own cart but could you put the rear differential under the leaf springs and then use the stock shock mounts.?
On this cart I could not
Nice job- but you can buy a 5" block kit for 150??
My question is why couldn’t you just bolt the front end through the 1.5 inch tubing??
What size wheels and tires are those ?
I know you adjusted the tow but did installing that block up front mess with your camber or tire wear?
Yes, but not a lot
What size of wheels do you have on
Why not springs on top of axle?
Excellent does work on a budget demonetized at first time Jeff hey it happens you got it back up and going that's all that matters as usual excellent work how about throwing some pics of the Grand National in the background somewhere here and there a huge fan of that vehicle and your channel also thanks
It's a regal not a gn
Maybe I’m looking at it wrong but what you gained from the shackles you lost some when you put the blocks in ?
The blocks were just for his shock extensions, not under the springs
I know this video is old but Nice DS they seem to last forever with all aluminum and fiberglass.
I love it
i seen a guy that build golf carts for a living said he never put shocks on the back said dont need them an said makes cart ride so much better
I actually wish to lower my cart; I want a low rider that can handle. I did overload shocks on my 2017 EZGO RXV, and new shocks. That firmed the ride and it handles better than it did, but it's too high. I live in a flat, asphalt / golf paradise; no hills. How best to make it go low?
Buy a kit if anyone makes one
If you just put the leaf spring on top of the axle in the back your back lift would be easy.
Why does my golf rock from one side to other when I am driving it and I have a lift kit but I want big tire the lift kit is a 4 I think
After you lifted it and people are riding on rear seat does it rub?
Nope. All good
What paint did you use? Looks cool.
Its a vinyl wrap
Could you have moved the axle under the leaf springs , and kept the same shock travel
Yes, but then I would have had to make spring mounts for the axle
I did the 1" lift block on my precedent. While I'm happy with the results I'm upset about the negative camber it added as well as the very tight front on bumps from losing an inch of spring travel. Forcing the front leaf down actually makes the spring expand which forces the bottom of the wheels out since the leaf connects at the bottom of the spindle. Then compressing the spring takes away an inch travel or the softest part of the travel which makes the front end very stiff when driving around. I wish somone would make a front 2" spindle lift. It would be a hot item! The shackles work perfectly!
It exists now lol
@@minivanwhy874 really? For a club car precedent? Please post a link!
@@minivanwhy874 seriously please point me in the right direction, I've been looking for a 2" spindle lift for my cart since I purchased it a few years ago!
@@mygt8a4re ebay has a bunch. And theyre cheap
@@minivanwhy874 I must be searching wrong, I see 3" up to 6" but no 2".
That colorsjift is sexy
Put the leaf on top
Love the channel and your work. Would you be interested in doing some work on my 4th gen fbody?
What are you looking to have done?
To be honest I have a roller with a Huron speed v3 ac kit, and probably 90 percent of the parts to complete the car. I just don't have the time to finish it myself.
Nice!!!!!
How much would you say you invested in this ?
$30
Just curious, there isn't any real 'camber' adjustment on those DS carts. How did you adjust for that??. DS carts really only have the steering box drag link and upper tie rods, only allowing Toe in/out adjustment, which is unaffected by the lift... The center pin on the spring has a 'cam', It's an Oval bolt, that allows a small camber adjustment within the stock hole, BUT if affects both wheels, essentially on the same axis, so if you fix one side, the other is worse. I bet you fought with it before you noticed the same thing I eventually did, finally found a club car manual and realized I couldn't adjust for it.
I didnt adjust for it. I dont use it enough to worry about tire wear
Any idea exactly how big of a tube you could make work in the front? You used 1.5” block for the front, any idea if I could get away with a 2”-3” block?
The way I did it, probably not. Changes the alignment too much
High PSI tv 10-4. I couldn’t quite tell from the video, but on the block in the front did you put it above the leafspring or below the leafspring?
why not just flip leaf in back?
there is a video on youtube shows how to use tape messure to aline the front in perfect with just tape messure
Hey I’m trying to find those wheels could you leave me a link
They are from golfcarttires.com
Curious how you got the original bolts out of the shackles without removing the body... or were the bolts reversed and the nut was actually up against the body?
I just pried the body out of the way
So 1 inch of shackle length added 1 inch of lift?
pretty close
@@HighPSItv hey thanks, I built my own a couple months back. For my Club car precedent I made 4" hole to hole to gain 1.5" of height over stock height. Which works out to be about 2" added length for 1.5" of added height.
You should sell this kit lol 😂
Hows the ride been, has it been worth it?
Rides like stock
@@HighPSItv also what size wheels and tires are those?
Didn't see how old the video was. But couldn't you have done it in the rear the same as a pickup by moving the axle from the top side of the leaf spring to the bottom side of the leaf spring and that would have completed your rear lift
I wonder how long before someone wants you to make them these kits so they can copy your idea.
They already make 2" spacer blocks for the front
What size are the new wheels and tires ?
They 12's
What size are the new tires?
What’s the name of the wheels
No idea. I bought them from goldcartwheels.com
As a golf cart tech, I cringed through this entire video. But hey if it works, IT WORKS.
These wheels only measure 18.5”
Don’t think it would work for 20”+
What’s going on with you and Doc, don’t really see either one of u on a channel together? BAD A$$ golf cart man!!!
We both stay very busy. Ill be filming with him Tomorrow
High PSI tv good deal man, you do magic and I’m looking forward to seeing you both work together again. Its clear the cow isn’t the same without u. Doc drives the Hell out of it though. Good vidz man.
Nice work but you never did tell us if it fixed your rubbing issue or not??? The suspense is killing me!!!
Yes, i did 😀
GTW lift kit $250 lol
What?
Somehow I see the rear end buckling over, please do not have anyone riding on the back when it happens. Lift the rear of the cart between the Axle and leaf springs and put the original leaf spring brackets back on for safety sake.
Those shackles will work fine.
My XRT came from Club Car with a 4" lift and they lifted the rear the same way.
