The entire internal spring mechanism unfortunately needs to be replaced. if you are in a jam and need to lower it, use the geared wheel on the left to remove all spring tension. Appreciate you watching & commenting.
I have my shade off, and it's obviously a different brand, as ours is just a pull downward to release (go up) but I've been turning and turning the end piece for 5 minutes, and it never gets tight at all? We've tried fully opening it, then slowly wrapping it up again, and it still isn't working? I assume the inside parts wear out perhaps, or break? This is in our '08 Tiffin Phaeton, so I have no idea what brand of shade it is either.
If your shade is not staying down, chances are the internal spring mechanism is broken. I would pull it a part and see what the internal spring assembly looks like. Maybe send a picture to the company I listed in the video and see if they can direct you to the right manufacturer. Best of luck, thanks for watching and commenting.
So glad I found you guys; wife and I, are weekend campers and kids have moved out. So we traded in our 2021 Surveyor 19ft BHLE for a Grand Design 2022 XLS 22mle couples coach. Not big on larger campers but wife loves it and the room. And so we drove from our home in Miami, FL to Clarksville, TN and we took delivery. And so happens we are running into a roller shade issue. So contacted Grand Design. They acknowledge receipt of my claim to set-up an appt for Warranty rep call in a little while. Meanwhile I started searching RV roller shades. And found you two. You should consider Winter camping South of Ohio. We go North come winter. Late December through first week of Jan 2023 we'll be in the Chattanooga, TN area. Not as Cold as Ohio lol. But that's what I mean by winter camping. This will be our 5th time winter camping. Or try to make the Tampa Super RV Show.
Thanks for the comment..congrats on the new RV. Just remember when you are out of warranty contact the Irvine shade & door company. They will send the parts for free…
Great video! I called the number for info and the lady who answered sounded annoyed. Wonder if I had a UA-cam channel things would’ve been different. 😮
Apologies for the delay, I had to investigate this once again. You can easily sneak a 3/8" or 1/2" thick piece of wood in the area to push the tabs. Hope this helps! appreciate you watching and commenting.
You probably wouldn't have the same sucess, I've called and no one answered the phone, no voice mail, sent an email to Irvine Shadeand and Door and did not get a response at all. In my case all but one have failed in one way or another, so thinking I don't want to send the company anymore of my money.
Any ideas on how to fix the hem bar from coming off the bottom of the blind? I have been able to repair it by taking it off and putting it back on but this is huge pain in the ass to only come off again in a few weeks later.
I just took the end cap off of our blind, the blind material is folded over and stapled to a piece of metal. it's installed at an angle on the aluminum grab bar so it doesn't come off. Maybe try to remove the end cap on another blind in the RV so you can see what I'm talking about. Hopefully that helps. Appreciate you watching & commenting.
I tried to get a hold of the company, but nobody would call me back. I eventually found the inside parts elsewhere online, but had to pay for the parts.
Sorry about that, when I called they picked up and were very helpful. Glad you found the internal parts, feel free to comment where you found them so others will be able to track them down. Appreciate you watching & commenting! Safe travels & Happy Camping!

Thank you for the info🙏
Very helpful.
My blind doesn’t stop
Always rolled up and stay up…
What part of the spring will make it stop where ever I need?

Thank you!! My bit picture window has been broken for months! I’ve been using Velcro or duct tape to keep it down. Lol. Hopefully this will work.

Question. What was the size of wood piece you used? That is a great idea.

this was great help but I am also looking to fix another issue. My blind does not stay down.
Not staying down is the reason we replaced the spring assembly. The internal mechanism in the spring assembly is broken. Thanks for watching
How did you find out the manufacturer?
Online search and a couple phone calls. Fortunately the right person answered. Thanks for watching and commenting..

What is the company name?
Off the top of my head I don’t recall..
I name them in the video
@@TNTRVing slow rise
So that's the modern version.
I like the old ones better.
They were easier to adjust the tension on.
It’s not to difficult to adjust, only need to turn the gear. Thanks for watching and commenting.
