Oh damn, I wish the preconditioner at my factory was that accessible! It opens up top with a small hatch but it's on top of the extruder so it's a pain in the ass to get too, you gotta vacuum it out the hose it out. So how do you clean the barrel if it's fixed? I see that you can remove the screws but do you have to do that every time to clean it? The extruders I work with have the barrels cam forward on a platform and leave the screws in place for cleaning. You spray the screws off and scrub the barrel with a barrel brush, what you cant get off with water you have to scrap off with a knife. And our knives are mounted onto the die face itself and dont move, makes blade changes a pain in the ass if you dont want to shut the screws off mid run. You can but you have to be quick or it will just seize up. Or else you have to fight product flow as you put the new blades on. I love the idea of the knife just sliding in and out of place, that would make blade changes so much easier!
Dear Peter (Pan), Thanks for your comment. The described situation with the cleaning procedure was exactly the reason, why we did the design as you have seen it in the video. The cleaning procedure is that you can bring the screw into a washing area (same floor) and wash it with high or low pressure cleaner. The barrels have to be cleaned in place with a brush. The cleaning interval has to be defined in your Hygienic concept. However, we would recommend cleaning the system when shutting down for Sunday (for instance). Hope that helps. Best regards Dani
