I’m glad these videos are back. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to make them Sean. The iOS developer community really needs a leader like you. Every time I watch one of these videos I get inspired or learn something new. You provide a lot of value.
When you create a custom SF symbol, do you still use the Image(systemName "custom.symbol.name") or do you need to export/import the custom symbol as image into Xcode?
Hi Sean. The venue in Chicago is like 10 minutes from my home. Love to meet and see you in person but the ticket prices are very steep. Unfortunately cannot come due to the conference pricing. I would be glad to meet you some day.
Hi Sean, I really loved this news episode of yours and I am long time viewer from Germany. Again I learned a lot of stuff just by watching your well curated resources! Thank you for your effort, really appreciate it! On your ViewBuilder bit I like to quote Matt Gemmell (do you still remember him, he was a Mac and iOS Developer?): "Good API Design is good UX for Developers." That is so true, because it makes working on large and complex code bases so much easier. I love this thought, because when you strive for quality you also learn the most...Keep up your awesome work!
How do you deal with people who leave one star reviews because they think your app is overpriced? I find that so challenging since a few bad reviews could really damage the apps reputation
That's definitely tough. If you are getting an overwhelming amount of reviews about your price, then that's certainly a signal that it's too high. But I wouldn't change the price if it's only a couple reviews here and there. I would work on doing my best to get as many reviews as possible to overpower those reviews. If you have a good product and are asking for reviews, this should be doable.
SwiftUI is clearly where the iOS app industry is heading. But there's still a TON of apps built in UIKit out there. If you are building your own app starting today, I'd go with SwiftUI. If you are trying to get a job at a company that has an existing app, you'll likely need UIKit. If that company has a brand new app or is in the process of building their app, then SwiftUI is probably the way to go.
IMO React is great for web and that’s about it (even though it has made html source harder or impossible to inspect in a browser). After getting into SwiftUI last year I’m never using React for an iOS / Mac app again. Good bye to installing a new node JS plugin every single time I need to do something that would be trivial in native Swift. And goodbye to 200+ MB bloated app download size (and hello to 16MB compact size)
My point was more around whether ( SwiftUIField ) could be designed as a native app running Swift UI code to demonstrate the Swift UI APIs. Thinking of it as a Mac OS app then a website which might be more accurate and easy to render from developers' view. Again running it as a website makes it easier for anyone to open a link in the browser.

This comment made me smile :). Glad you enjoy the show!
So happy swift news is back!
We should make a group for (reasonable) devs to help each other price our apps.

I don't know of any off hand yet, but I'm sure there will be plenty of dinners and drinks with all the developers there around the conference venue.
I really missed Swift news!
Happy to be back!
Cool video, thanks for the information!
Happy to help!

I appreciate the kind words! Good API design can be a life saver as the project grows in size and complexity.
Another fantastic content from this channel, I might be able to avoid wasting years of struggling by just watching your content.
That's high praise :). Glad you enjoy the content!
Great video with a ton of great information. I have to go check out the website with the different formats.

Plot twist. The app is I am rich.
Sean! Appreciate the heck out of you. Damn you inspire me!
Happy to hear it :)
Am I missing something, or why do I not see the links to the articles you discuss in the video's description?
Yup, I mention it in the intro - there is a Github repo that holds all the links. The link to that is in the description.
@@seanallen thanks! 👍

Interestingly SwiftUI Field might be built with some web programming language like React to explain how native Swift UI works.

@@deepesh259nitk True. Sorry for my rant (which was totally off point tbh)
@@yega3k No worries I can completely understand. No iOS dev wants to hear anything about React lol
I believe he used TypeScript - mastodon.social/@chris@m.objc.io/111918553120429524
epic video as usual
I appreciate that :). Glad you liked it.
Great content again. Did you find my F1 visionOS app already: GP Forecast?
I haven't looked yet, but I'll check it out.
Swift news is back 🎉 thanks.
Good to be back :)
Great video, master Sean!
Thank you kindly!
Great work!
Wow, I appreciate the generosity. Thanks!
