In my opinion, this is not only relaxing. This is spiritual, abstracting, an intersection between to be and not to be.
When I heard this for year's ago , I realized, this the best ambient music ever made!!
music like this isn't new age, it's all age. this is the sound that has been in us during all times that man has focused on the sun in a meadow, or the spray of the sea, or valued small, beautiful, simplistic joys. it is the sound we have only just found the means to make.
I know this comment was 11 years ago, but well said.
Arent you a poet you
I wish this could go on forever
This just washes the day away.
Budd may be the principle musician on these pieces, but Eno lets us experience how the piano sounds being played in an empty auditorium with the door slightly adjar so that the sound filters out and reverberates down a long corridor shafted in sunlight .
gerry moran liked the imagery but the crickets make me feel like it's a janitor mopping floors and suddenly realizing sometimes in the auditorium playing music
'stream' of consciousness?
Before the terms "new age" and "ambient" there were a few people on the planet just making beautiful music (Eno) without rhythm tracks and people, being steeped in the confines of media perception, just had to categorize it. Beautiful music is beautiful music and all categories are bullshit. Marvelous graphics.
Fantastic song. Great for listening before bed.
this music is a preview of the paradise...
Back in college, I listened to this one night while sitting next to a quiet creek in Tahoe. I would never forget what I had felt that day, and listening to this again 5 years later continues to take me back to that very place. Nothing but peace, stillness and simple joy.
Zen-like. It dazzles in its understatement.
Don't get me wrong. I listen to all kinds of bands (Converge, Mozart, Cave In, Eminem, Elliott, Dillinger Escape Plan, David Bowie, Tupac...) but THIS song....gotta be the best thing in the world. Boy do I escape and dream when I listen to it.
I first heard this in a record store on State Street, Madison, WI. That setting was heaven enough, the music put it over the top.
I must've heard a million songs in my life but this is by far the best piece of ambient music ever made.
This music is like a pleasent dream, a fine example of new age & ambient music :)
Great record.... one of my favorite ambient works.
So much part of my life's ambience in the 80's. Amazing timeless masterpieces from these two guys.
Eno the best musician of ambient music
This is the music when our spirits are traveling...!
A piece of musical zen which can pass without much notice and yet have a profound affect on the listener.
Dreamful soundscape!
Me sorprende lo hermosas que son las canciones de Brian Eno, Harold Budd o Robin Guthrie, tienen magia
My absolute favourite Budd/Eno collab. Leaves me in silent awe.
BRIAN ENO RULES ...
holy shit. that is so beautiful
Beautiful words....
This reminds me of being in the mountains in Chiang Mai, beautiful star lit sky's.
Ive always enjoyed ,been moved by Eno and Budd.As a salmon and trout angler who will be beside bright rivers and has been since the 1980,s and hope to do so again, post lockdown Its particularly apposite and moving.Lets keep those rivers bright, unpolluted, untamed
This song always makes me think of just after you’ve died and all of a sudden your back in a place you’d once been before many years ago, and people from your past are there waiting for you, and it’s a big surprise. A big reunion
The same thought process is going on within my mind where I indeed die and yet wake up completely aware again with what I was stripped from during the human experience incarnation in order to make it valid and real enough.. also an extra bonus from a rickandmorty episode I happened to come across a few years ago where Rick says to Marty while he played a future digital game and ranked first place on the chart.. and the game was over. "80 years, well done kid!"
Sorry if I rambled a bit. I just felt the need to respond to your comment, for I really like to see others feel and think in this same way.
brian eno is fantastic
Thanks for posting, I love piano oepning
Were the beauty a tune, it would be this one, nothing else
Breathtaking song,amazing !!!!
The best memories of my childhood sound like this
Great for meditating
@OBLIVIOUSavior I agree with you. His music, especially on this album and other similar ones that these two co-authored are poems without words. It reminds me of imigistic poetry or the "imigism".
Me too.....I am immersed.
the haunter of dreams
Awesome!
Just Listen 👂
It makes me think of the Beatles song "A Day In the Life"---the chord played on the piano at the end that resonates.
❤🎶
Phenomenal!
@bamboosa Harold Budd is the lead composer.
It's transition time, taking us back to the real world.
生まれてくる前に、この音楽が表現する世界を、宇宙空間のどこかで見てきたような気がする。
@ReferencesRStupid It takes me somewhere subtle and subterranean....I love this.
Can you hear the crickets??? Transient.
love
this reminds me eating fish in the fishstore
this is the best comment on this website.
LOVE THIS... and the comments, especially from bamboosa and OBLIVIOUSavior.
@bamboosa Well said....he is it's forefather so to speak.
💖
@wapassou100 Wonderfully stated......
The one person who disliked this needs to do some tai chi to this shit..
im 12 and I'm listening to this is 2032....
Lucky
So very lovely...I am "Gemini"...so,I'm "Air" but any Piscean listening to this would be in their element....literally. If I love it (and I do) then it will undoubtedly have even more meaning for a "Water" sign. Beautiful for all,in truth. K x
For me it wil always be the high desert
Ok ok no problem :p It just sounded a little arrogant at first. Fact that you're here makes you a wonderful person. Good choice of music.
@OBLIVIOUSavior I like what you said.
Breathe with your belly
No sé bien... nunca que digo. Ahora voy a cancelar esto:
esta música es la única del mundo que me entiende, y no hay gran que entender... pero es la forma

i like this album art better than the pearl's original
What am I wasting? What? Wrong category for Mozart? I indeed wasted time trying to figure out that sentence. Whatever.
IS THIS FROM 'another green world'?
This is from 'The Pearl'
SanFranciscoJames its from the Pearl I believe..
did you just say "bands" & then mention Mozart?
Yep ! Does it bother you? You're wasting some valuable time my friend... Wrong category for Mozart.
This is more than a song.. I did not want to listen anything for an hour or so after listening it.
Lovely comment.
I listen to so many beautiful songs. Different genres and styles, but this is so beautiful.
Agreed, this is sublime
Harold Budd and Brian Eno is a magical combination. This whole album is a masterpiece
True.
SUBLIME! An awakening to higher realms.
this came out in 1984?
This makes me so happy to have found it, thank god.
Eno the best musician of ambient music
This is absolutely beautiful.
Nothing this deep should have a title.
Phenomenal music. Out of this world.
@wapassou100 Nice to know that heaven does exist on earth, at least through sound that is..... :) Bless Eno.
Look pal, I'm just trying to share the fact that I'm listening to all kinds of music : punk, progressive, ambient, classical, pop, indie, metal, math-core,whatever. You're just trying to bring me down with the fact that I classified Mozart as a "band". Sorry man. I was just drunk a bit and thought that i would share the world that this song is fuc""" A song. That's all
The video is too long
This was the ending on BBC's Panorama: The Honeymoon Murder
I was just a kid when this was released.........wish I could go back.
from The Pearl
@skateNappreciate Hahaha......brilliant!!
This is what liminal space feels and sounds like, you’re in a pool that’s been abandoned, but it’s very functional, and glowing…you just float there while looking up at the night sky full of stars
@bamboosa Agreed 1000%!!!
One of my most favorite peices of ambiant sound. Beautiful and it sounds like it's title.
Listening for 37 years ...
May he Rest In Peace
ENO?
