Thanks Martin You inspired me to buy a 3.5 Rollieflex 1946 , maybe have to do a clean and lube and adjust but I love old cameras :) Happy New Year. Don
Hello, two lads from Pudsey want to say cracking you tube content, Full of information and well presented, we have just got into medium format and your knowledge is very much helpful. We are a young 66 yrs and its like a breath of fresh air to us using analogue, we would love to meet you in Otley and even talked about you course we found on line. Anyway cracking stuff thank you
Just found this one Martin - excellent use of both camera and the weather conditions. Typical Pennine grime. I used to work on t'other side, building and maintaining wool spinning frames in Greenfield, Saddleworth. I also own a 3.5F (without meter) and a Rolleicord Vb - both superb cameras. Hope the back is long gone. Best wishes.
Thoroughly enjoyed your ramble around Otley. As a rank digital amateur, It's great pleasure to watch a craftsman at work. The other source of enjoyment is from the fact that I went over from Ireland to Guisley in 1961 at the age of 16. Otley was always on the agenda whenever there was a few bob to spare. I have the fondest memories and the accent is always a joy to hear. Unfortunately, plans to visit in 2021 to mark the 60th have been dashed by the virus. Keep up the good work. Best wishes with ould back!
Not many people know about Diafine (and its cousin Acufine); it’s a very useful developer for the very reasons you so ably demonstrated. It is unfortunate that its price has risen so much.
Loved the video Martin, even though it is a year after created. The photos were top notch. What I hate when watching videos like this, is all the potential photos that are missed, For instance when talking about the shot of the bridge when standing on the river bank { which was a great photo}but over your right shoulder I could see an outstanding composition of a couple old trees on the opposite bank casting a magnificent reflection on the waters surface. With the sciatica, have you seen a chiropractor?
Actually I have altered the vid title, this video is about developing in Diafine, part 2 which I will be uploading in a day or two is were I developed in Pyrocat HD, You can use Pyrocat in lots of ways, enjoy your journey and check out the minimum agitation methods for Pyrocat HD
Hi..I got the same problem as you for long time..lower back shoot in the left leg..I also own most of cameras that you own..I suppose we may be the same age but different location..Kevin from southern Turkey 🇹🇷...cheers
great conditions and excellent results; otley looks lovely, especially in the ethereal mists. i'm looking forward to the night half of the video and hope the walking continues to help resolve your nerve issue.
As always I really enjoyed taking this small adventure with you. I do like how you put up information about the history and details of the area you are in, it adds to the overall experience of joining you on your photo walks. I am also learning more about photography as you discuss the how and why behind what you are using, very helpful indeed. Thank you.
Photography is the best workout. Take care! This town seems to offer a variety of cityscapes. I've recalled some from recent videos, but you always add a different touch to the respective shots. Beautiful.
I only discovered your channel recently - I was looking for advice on pinholes - and I've thoroughly enjoyed them all. You really know your stuff and it's lovely to see your enthusiasm for shooting with film cameras. I even love your Yorkshire accent - and I'm a Lancastrian! All the best Martin, keep up the good work (and hope the back feels better soon).
I would use a Kodak TMAX400 or a Ilford Delta400, I used the Kodak TMAX400 for many years, I shot it at 200 ASA/ISO and devoloped it in a thin solution for a long time with very few and very gently agitations, in that way the film had more grey tones and had still good contrast, in modern words, larger dynamic range.
Great video again Martin. you make it look so easy and calming and that's what I like about you videos, and I know what you mean about back problems, look forward to part 2.
Great video! Three of the best photography products! Diafine is my go to development product. The f3.5 Rolleiflex is a bit lighter yet every bit as sharp and user friendly. Lastly, Tri-X 400 is useable almost everywhere.
Inspiring photographs! I’ve had Diafine lying around here for a couple of years now. Perhaps now during winter season I should mix it and shoot some Tri-x...
Outstanding photography, Martin. Beautiful composition and exposure on each frame. Now if only I could get my hands on Diafine. It's been a tough find lately.
As I tend to take incident light readings for 35 and M/F it does not really effect exposure taking reading that way as its measuring light falling onto the subject not reflected from it, if using in built camera meters I would increase the exposure on bright foggy days or in snow environment's
@@martinhensonphotography thanks Martin. I think I heard you mention that you used the meter on the Rolleiflex. I have the automat Rolleiflex which was given to me and is a joy to use.

Thank you Peter, you know I think I am a member, so long since I been on that forum, next video is all about a Mamiya 6 auto mat, stay tuned Peter, best regards
Just started following you. Your photos are excellent and your videos are truly inspirational. Had a question about Diafine. Does this lend well towards scanning only or is it good for darkroom printing as well? Thank you.
Diafine is better for scanning workflow as it produces scans that are tonally quite flat , ideal for editing and increasing contrast were needed, this is not to say it no good fir darkroom work, however , you would have to work harder in the DR to get the desired contrast, thank you
thx for the video martin! when shooting tri-x raten with 1600, you still stick with he usual 4 minutes in diafine for solution a and b, right? you cant increase the development time with diafine as I understood it, correct? cheers, michael
I really, really enjoyed this video!! Look forward to Part 2. One question: Did you change the length of time you developed the film in Diafine or did you develop at the normal times (i.e., 3+3)?
What a beautiful foggy day , and a lovely warm little town, how I wish in America we had more nice clean little towns , graffiti free with no drug addicts shitting everywhere. Christianity gave Otley it's core of substance hence all of those churches , looking to God not men ... In america we look to the Federal Government ...as God sadly.

Very nice images, timeless feeling in some way. Great compositions.
Definitely good work shown here! Frame #12 sticks with me as especially inspiring.

An interesting video, i learnt a bit about the town. The photos are beautiful. I'm sorry about the sciatica.

Great video and pictures! I love strolling about with my Rolleiflex "cruzin fer snaps."
It is fun looking down at the square screen, thanks
I really enjoyed this video! Thanks for the insights and the great photos Martin!
Your welcome
Would enjoy seeing you compare the extremely expensive Rolleiflex to the just plain expensive Microcord. The image at 7:34 is magnificent.

Amazing stuff, just bought a Rollie 3.5F..very inspiring Martin!
Great compositions, Martin! Keep sharing your photigraphy with us.
Great video , loving the photos . Yorkshire is my favourite part of the world .I recently got my TLR back into action - a Seagull WWSC-120.
Great camera, you should get some lovely images from it
Oh and yes, Yorkshire is beautiful, I would say that though been born and bred there lol
Lovely images on such a foggy day. Keep well.
Appreciate that, thank

Thank you, yes it’s hard to get hold of, I bought my last batch from Germany
Beautiful work, Martin! Hope your back is getting better so that you will be able to share more stunning photographs from your part of the world.
Hi martin. Do you find you have to compensate for exposure on really foggy days as just like snow the light tricks the meter.
As I tend to take incident light readings for 35 and M/F it does not really effect exposure taking reading that way as its measuring light falling onto the subject not reflected from it, if using in built camera meters I would increase the exposure on bright foggy days or in snow environment's

I spoke too soon; I no longer see Diafine being offered.
Finally, someone using other developer than D76! XD
There’s not much that can’t be done or has been done with D76 and Tri X

It’s 4 or five mins with all films , increasing dev time would make no difference , stick with 4 mins. A B
Hi I’m getting an automat from someone. How can you find 12 exposure film? I’m having trouble thanks
You just need a 120 roll film, that will give you 12 exp in the rolleiflex
@@martinhensonphotography oh I see now, I did more research and figured it out but thank you!
Grease pictures Martin. Where did you get the diafine from? I can’t find it anywhere in the uk.
Keep up the great work
