Levitating sounds just like ASS's song but if dua ripped off Article sound system, then they ripped off outkast's "rosa parks" first. I think back in 2018, when she was starting to write and record FN, Dua said in an interview that Outkast was an inspiration for the album so I think it's more likely that Levitating was inspired by Outkats rather than Article Sound System. Adam neely's video regarding this law suit is great and very detailed
When ''Say so'' came out, people said it was a special sound for clothing stores just like what is happening with ''Closer'' she may know inspired? Saweetie almost always gets negative reviews for her sounds or performances, it's sad. She can do better as in the time with '' Icy Girl '' And for the case of Dua, unfortunately it is not new. Ed Sheeran is also in the same case, credit is important.
I mean they also do it for most of dojas music. What people forget is that stores tend to play the top 10 hit songs at the time so like? It’s a weird argument. It was a huge argument for Kiss Me More on TikTok the week it came out and now look, one of her highest charting songs and a pretty good one at that.
@@pollythepengiun3927 Exactly! Most of Doja's songs blow up on TikTok and become hits that are played over and over again at the store and on the radio, it's not like she created it, it existed long before. Now, if it's a sound like another sound, then it's necessarily that the person has copied the other one then not at all.. you're right !
Doja got that space theme slash disco thing. I don’t think we should set specifics themes or sounds for just one artist. There is enough room for all artists to explore the same inspiration
Yeah, someone pointed out that they changed the release date of the song on their SoundCloud and that the comments give away that it was released just recently, so with that bit of proof it can possibly show that Dua didn’t steal the song/melody.
The last game changer was given to Nicki, who has years, classic albums, talent, as well as impact for the next gen. Then.. the next artist to get it was saweetie 😂 with NO debut album YET.
Listen to OutKast “Rosa Parks” and compare it to “Levitating” and “Live Your Life” Dua Lipa DID mention that OutKast was an inspiration for her album. So yeah this Florida band did not create that specific melody.

Saweetie had that bougie classy ice queen vibe. When she came out with icy girl, she had me mesmerized. The sound, the vibe the delivery was the best at that time. I loved her on focus as well. She was like opposite Megan tee stallion in a good way. Megan brought the hot girl and saweetie icy girl. She brought something different, but got turned into a citygirl type of rapper.
The people who claim she stole Levitating are pulling a hoax. That song has no presence on the internet (aside from a obviously-altered SoundCloud upload) before a few days ago. Also, how would she have heard an obscure song with no web presence?
weve heard so many cases over the years of music companies ripping off smaller artists and stealing even whole songs, so i guess its still part of the system. this and the sampling with no consent are the most annoying things. they have the budget to pay the smaller/OG artists but they dont cause its cheaper and they know theyll get away with it.
Adam Neely did a video explaining very well about Dua lipa's song. He explained the melody from those two songs came from Outkast - Rosa Parks and more. Trust me guys, y'all won't be disappointed.
As a musician myself I would say levitating was definitely stolen..... And this is not just publicity because these big artist actually drag the case for 2or 3 years Also creating and making something better are two different things
I really love Saweetie because she was a social media sensation then became a singer/performer. I like her new bop. It reminds me of Doja a lot. They are friends so I can see why she went in that direction. I still see her as Icy Girl though.
If anything, Closer sounds more similar to Jaguar (the song) by Victoria Monét. The second I heard Closer, i automatically thought Victoria. Check the song out and tell me if you hear it too.
Ok, but the most hilarious part is that the tune for "Live Your Life" is arguably ripped from another song called "Rosa Parks" by Outkast, so they are basically accusing Dua of ripping off their ripoff😂
The one chorus sung on the original DEFINITELY have the same notes as the "Levitating" chorus, but it's such a small piece of the song, I almost don't care. Dua's version is WAY BETTER than all whining you hear on the original. Despite this, due credit should have been given to the band.
I KNOW. People are saying the songs are “practically the same song” but ?? It’s only the chorus, and the chorus in the original reggae song is only sung once and that’s it. Plus the song itself is so short. The beat is the same. The production and vocals tho, completely different.
The credit shouldn’t be given to the band. That song was basically inaccessible except for SoundCloud and a physical copy that does not have stock. Also, OutKast did the chorus first, and Dua did credit them.
Saweetie is an insta baddie with a side hustle in music - which is painful to watch. As for Doja and disco, in her recent albums, Doja has also bounced around from style to style (remember go down?) and tried everything from rap to the most commercial sounding pop. Everyone and their brother has been doing 80s revival stuff in recent years. It’s not surprising that saweetie would try it. After all, she has no direction of her own as an artist…because she’s not an artist. She sings. But Doja was equally jumping on the band wagon and just trying everything until something stuck.
And it’s funny how these artist like dua lipa and sam smith and normani getting sued after they songs been released and all the sudden people wanna say they copied them after the songs win awards and be played in the radio 24/7 so clearly these people suing think they finna get easy money cuz why ain’t they sue when it was released but instead they wait after stage song wins awards and get radio play

@@MoonlightBrillance how exactly? doja doesn't have a music video where she's flying a plane and going to different countries. also it doesn't even sound like doja. it's just another disco song

+honest, the song was NOT released in 2017. They saw the success that Levitating got and they decided to edit their soong from 2017 by making a Levitating ripoff. If you watch this one TikTok, a guy explains that you can edit your Soundcloud song and replace it with a new one. The comments will remain the same.
The problem with alot of these newer artists they don't take little bits & pieces of the songs their stealing from they blatantly just steal the whole song and for some strange reason they behave like their not gong to get found out and get sued
There’s a lot of evidence that this “reggae” song wasn’t even released in 2017 as there is no actual record or commentary more than a couple weeks back being that the soundcloud track can be edited and comments remain the same if a new one is put in its place. There is literally no comments more than 3 weeks old. And SoundCloud is the only platform the record supposedly appeared on at that time. Everything else including videos have newly been put up. It appears that they are trying to pull a fast one.
Tbh Levitating does sound just like that song but they BOTH sound a lot like the last minute or so of Rosa Parks by Outkast, who she did credit for inspiration.
I saw someone on TikTok debunking Levitating and the other bands song, since it was supposedly replaced on Soundcloud and then the release of the song to UA-cam was recent
I can't believe it's considered plagiarism. Hasn't people heard of coincidence???? There's many songs that sounds like levitating. I thought she was inspired by kylie minogue's "spinning around" days, as well as Sophie elis baxtors' "murder on the dance floor". People just want money...
I just feel like there’s soo many female R&B artists nowadays, it’s madness. And it’s the fact they pretty much all come into one. Saweetie, I like her, but she’s nothing unique, whereas with Doja for example, she is. Very talented, good singer, great dancer, non-stop hits, has a great persona, etc, etc. Doja STANDS OUT, which is rare in this day and age, so does it surprise me another artist MAY be copying? No.
I would say Saweetie's music presence is mostly depending on features on other artists' (demi lovato, little mix) songs, which was how Dosha was first known for. However, Dosha managed to introduce herself to the industry with her biggest hit, Say So. Saweetie on the other hand doesn't have any standout singles and her label is still trying to push her to be the next hit maker when her talent is not as incomparable as Dosha. Tbh, nothing about Saweetie is extraordinary in terms of rapping style, skill, talent, songwriting, rhythm. I guess most people don't even know who the hell is she or just know her as some random artists that appear on random songs.
I don't think it's copied, but they do sound similiar-ish. I don't like how everytime the song becomes mega hit, there will be always those little artists out of nowhere to imo just claim that the song is copied so they can get credit/money/attention. Same for Dark Horse which maybe sounds even more similiar, but i'm glad Katy won at the end bc there is a exmplanation video which i hope same will happen with Dua.
Levitating does sounds familiar to the other song but the real question is why where they waiting 2 years and then decided to sue? Like it's your song being 'used'. Levitating was on Nr. 1 in Billboard for several weeks and was all over Media and on Radio 24/7 and you tell me you didn't heard about it once...?
They still have the right to sue !! It doesn’t matter how long they have waited. You can’t blame a victim or insinuating that they’re lying just because they didn’t sue immediately
@@ndayemarna4218 I know but this is still odd to me. Sometimes people wait for the copied song to get popular and sue after the song made a while lot of money. But Levitating does sound very familiar to the other song.
Ironic given how much Doja has copied Nicki’s aesthetics, sounds, animation, concepts, vocal inflections, styles of Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. Just sayin.
This why as an artist I try not to listen to other artist music as much as my own. I don’t want to get tooooo inspired by their music to where mines sounds like theirs.
I love Dua and Levitating… but it was absolutely a ripoff. There’s way too many similarities between the two songs for it to be a coincidence. There’s been many cases that I’ve seen where songs sound similar to other one… however in this case Levitating sounds WAY too similar to the band’s song (I forgot the name) in my opinion. The band has every right to sue. I still love levitating tho regardless.

sounds like the band is coping OutKast, at least Dua has mention many times she was inspired by OutKast and has gave credit to them, the band on the other hand has not.
As far as I'm concerned.....Donna Summer really did invent disco. Love to Love You Baby and I Feel Love basically invented the genre. You had other artists that were kinda proto-disco but I Feel Love really brought that shit out! I'm old enough to remember (unfortunately LOL)
I agree with what you said. Saweety gives me a vibe of a person who is an artist to be famous a bit too plastic, doja was an artist first who got famous. Maybe wrong impressions.

Saweetie needs a better team , I understand icy girl was a hit on the whim she made it in her car ! But she should have definitely stayed in that lane
Saweetie definitely doesn't deserve the hate she received
Doja got that space theme slash disco thing. I don’t think we should set specifics themes or sounds for just one artist. There is enough room for all artists to explore the same inspiration
levitating sounds exactly like the other song, but there's a rumour that they made their version after dua. it's v messy :0
Then.. the next artist to get it was saweetie 😂 with NO debut album YET.
literally, these awards mean nothing now
Listen to OutKast “Rosa Parks” and compare it to “Levitating” and “Live Your Life”
Dua Lipa DID mention that OutKast was an inspiration for her album. So yeah this Florida band did not create that specific melody.
Beep beep is that my bestie in a tessie

If Levitating is a rip off, it ripped off Rosa Parks by Outkast, not that all white reggae band.
Why do people like saweetie? Musically speaking, looks aside. I want to understand , what it is about her music do people like.
i thought i was the only one who thought closer sounded like kiss me more and say so had a baby
(also closer has a similar meaning to both songs)
“A majority white reggae band” took me out!! 😂😂 because no one is having that conversation
Adam Neely did a video explaining very well about Dua lipa's song. He explained the melody from those two songs came from Outkast - Rosa Parks and more. Trust me guys, y'all won't be disappointed.
Can we talk about how Dua stole Seeya by Deadmau5??!! Her song Break my heart starts THE SAME!!!
Yup. Also The Cure’s A Forest and One Kiss sound the same at the beginning
When I first heard levitating it sounded like any other disco pop infused song that rhythm has been used so many times
Saweetie’s music just doesn’t do it for me and the fake reggae band is lying.
I feel like saweetie would be a better model than a rapper . She is great at marketing also.
As a musician myself I would say levitating was definitely stolen..... And this is not just publicity because these big artist actually drag the case for 2or 3 years
Also creating and making something better are two different things
@@kevinsun1091 Woah! If that's the case, OutKast needs to say something and get Dua out of legal trouble.
@@melonpeach9723 Facts
I would also wait to sue lol, of course you want money from the sound that is stolen from you
@@fatfatine9635 but that’s stupid clearly they ain’t care that much until it make more money then they undiscovered song if it was me I would have sued right when it was released cuz ur gonna get money either way
If this lawsuit sticks (let’s be real it probably will) this majority white reggae band gonna be rich rich.
Dua Lipa literally mentioned that Levitating is inspired by that one OutKast song
Her ate that record you definitely tried it. Saweetie not so much but her killed it
am i the only one who likes closer? i feel like it's one of the best songs saweetie has released in a while. and tbh it doesn't remind me of kiss me more at all
I like the song it's defo got fun vibes! But the song and the video definitely bring to mind Doja Cat.
it's kinda like elevator music but more fun I guess. I dont find it any similar to kiss me more or say so honestly.
I kinda like it too!
@@murpbe9086 yeah same here. i don't see the similarities at all. doesn't even sound the same too. it's just because she's a rapper doing a disco song with a r&b girl like doja and sza that's why they're saying she's copying doja 🤦
@@MoonlightBrillance how exactly? doja doesn't have a music video where she's flying a plane and going to different countries. also it doesn't even sound like doja. it's just another disco song
Well as Moneybagg Yo said “ you can’t compete , when you can’t compare “ .. saweetie did bite the sound but she doesn’t have the capabilities that Doja has to make a comprehensive hit or . Not saying it’s right or wrong but saweetie ain’t the first to bite and won’t be the last .
@honest
The problem with alot of these newer artists they don't take little bits & pieces of the songs their stealing from they blatantly just steal the whole song and for some strange reason they behave like their not gong to get found out and get sued
"...an all white reggae group" LMFAOOOOO
Listen to experience by Victoria Monet ft Khalid. They all sound similar.
Saweetie need to promote the song
I think its pretty weird that this lawsuit is coming up now that levitating got pretty well known. I mean its 2022 and the song was released in 2020
Tbh Levitating does sound just like that song but they BOTH sound a lot like the last minute or so of Rosa Parks by Outkast, who she did credit for inspiration.
A white reggae band talking about ripping someone off? Funny.
Is kinda weird that Dua is been sued at the moment she broked up with her management team
No.
Saweetie is just a product, not an artist
Saweetie is underwhelming
I would say Saweetie's music presence is mostly depending on features on other artists' (demi lovato, little mix) songs, which was how Dosha was first known for. However, Dosha managed to introduce herself to the industry with her biggest hit, Say So. Saweetie on the other hand doesn't have any standout singles and her label is still trying to push her to be the next hit maker when her talent is not as incomparable as Dosha. Tbh, nothing about Saweetie is extraordinary in terms of rapping style, skill, talent, songwriting, rhythm. I guess most people don't even know who the hell is she or just know her as some random artists that appear on random songs.
your usage of “dosha” made me laugh 💀💀
Doja was big without features…
Those two songs are undeniably VERY similar
Hii can you PLEASE talk about pitbull?? I’m weirdly starting to obsess over his music and I want to know why because I remember always being annoyed by it when I was younger. The upbeat dance club vibe just hits me on a crazy level now lol
the closer MV is dope tho
sounds like the band is coping OutKast, at least Dua has mention many times she was inspired by OutKast and has gave credit to them, the band on the other hand has not.
Honestly I don’t think you should be able to copyright a melody in general 🤷🏻♂️
I don't know. There's nothing new under the sun, I guess.
As far as I'm concerned.....Donna Summer really did invent disco. Love to Love You Baby and I Feel Love basically invented the genre. You had other artists that were kinda proto-disco but I Feel Love really brought that shit out! I'm old enough to remember (unfortunately LOL)
I was with a friend who's a lawyer hes says it sounds to basic and underground he doesn't think a there's enough evidence for a civil suit
I think some songs sounding similar are sometime coincidental🔥🔥🔥
Lets not forget that they're friends lol friends have a tendency to share with each other lol.
Article Sound System:ASS
Duh when a song is stolen the new song ends up better than the other one because that’s the aim make it bigger than the usual song
Sweetie really had a lane for herself and left and now she be in everybody lane
I mean after the Blurred Lines lawsuit, anything is possible.
There's a Spanish artist with a song much older that is also suing dua for copyright
I agree with what you said. Saweety gives me a vibe of a person who is an artist to be famous a bit too plastic, doja was an artist first who got famous. Maybe wrong impressions.
I love doja ❤️

I’m shocked you didn’t talk about how the copyright fiasco may just be promo for the band’s new album
I can’t take Saweetie seriously.
I don’t like Levitating either. Sue away
Watch Adam Neely's video on the Dua Lipa situation.
This band did not invent the style, rhythm or chor progression either. So either both are rip offs or neither are.

Idk bout anyone else but why is there no sound for this video???
I’ve worked with all artists! They aren’t copying anyone!
*Jesus Christ loves you and cares for you have a good day everyone*
She should try playing starfire in something shes basically perfect for it
Yo I was just thinking this yesterday, ‘Saweetie should have stuck with the icy sound’
In these situations, it's common to argue that similar songs are inspired or coincidental (Olivia Rodrigo), but Levitating Deadass sounds EXACTLY like that reggae song, but yassified.
you really copied a popular comment
Go play in traffic, bot...
okay but how did that bot manage to reply to all these comments that fast wtf
After i heard Closer, my first thought was that Saweetie’s headed for a “pop feature rapper” type vibe - like rapping on a track to make quick $$????
i don’t know Saweetie very well but I used to watch her old videos when she was starting off & I don’t think she’s as creative/deep or all about that icy girl magic anymore or whatever her vibe was
idm her new direction bc it makes the most sense $$$$ but tbh all her raps lately just sound like a bunch of random words thrown on a beat/pop track and the raps are so skippable, like I really try to forward her raps when her raps come on nowadays
That’s just the song right now. I remember in 2019 every song sounded like a Dadbaby beat and even in 2020 everything sounded like Pop Smoke. I guess not stuff sounds like Doja Cat
Guys in Italy there's this artist called AISHA. she released a song called "bad vibes", the chorus remainds levitating, could you listen to it and tell me your opinion pls?
