I was just looking at my swatch ring the other day and realizing that I have to update it now because I have four new oxide colors and I'm not sure how to do that!
Fun!!! Very neat and tidy!! Mine are more like Tim’s.. half sheet of his watercolor paper per ink , punch hole and thread a wire ring through the top. Could see the benefits of this kinda swatch, though!! Great job!!
What do crafters like to do other than craft? Organize their crafts! This is a great set! Probably going to need this one in my stash! :) Awesome video
This is AWESOME!!! Love how all of that looks when it’s done. I recently started cutting tags & swatching my inks, markers, etc. This set offers so much help!!
Cathy, I like your handwriting! It's uniform, clean and simple! Such a terrific way to make swatches - hard to believe I haven't done something like this myself before now. Off to buy some goodies!
Great video, now it one more thing I can organize, that list just gets longer and longer, still don’t have all my stamps and dies in there envelopes. And I find more to buy when all of these enablers show thing on You Tube! Thanks Kathy!💜🤭🌸
Aw man...I had convinced myself that I didn't need anything from this release. Now I'm back on the fence (although, really, I'm falling over the fence at this point).
SO FREAKIN HELPFUL!!!!! Thank you sooo much Cathy!!!! I just searched my Zigs today after looking at your video from a couple of days ago. Now I am going to do my oxides just like you did!!! So many thanks!!!!! Do inks next!! I want to see how you do inks!!!!!
A great idea, Cathy! Waffle Flower has come up with another hit! Also Kristina Werner did some You Tubes on blending various Distress Oxides, too (awhile back). But I like the neat and tidy way you have completed this task. TFS.
OMG!!! I just finished swatching all the DO inks AND Kristina Werner's favorite blends (all 28 of them) this weekend. I love the results and they are happily labeled and living in a binder in baseball card sleeves. These products are super cool, but just a tad bit late for me! Thank you for sharing this. I do like the bullet list stamps!!
I love this, Cathy, thanks for sharing! Great ideas and I always love your clean and simple approach. Also, after the first set of swatches, I had to rewind the video because I heard you say "rusty hinge" 🤣 and now I'm curious to know what you were talking about! LOL
CZ, I love your technique for swatches! I have the @WaffleFlower stamps for swatches but not the dies! Really need these for my crafting room! @TimHoltz convinced me to swatch colors on my watercolor papers, too, because the colors truly look different on different substrates.
Hey Cathy such a great video. I noticed the product you mentioned for cleaning the brushes. How does it work? the silicone scrubber and the jar or cleaner. I am OCD and cant stand to see the buildup of colour on my Taylored Expressions blending brushes. I like when they are clean and pretty looking.
It's pretty easy! You dampen the cleaner (it comes like a bar of soap) and then dampen your brush, and rub it over the silicon brush cleaner. My friend Lydia has a video. Here's the link and it should go right to the part where she's cleaning the brushes: ua-cam.com/video/s3IJZTlOriA/v-deo.html
Wellllll… good question. What I have done is just slap em down the best I can. Honestly? I haven't updated this in a while! I feel like it's better to do when you have all the colors. lol!~
Thank you for sharing. What is the size of the small rectangles that you applied the distress oxide inks to? I am curious if they would fit nicely on the side of the distress oxide containers. =)
Yes! This video: ua-cam.com/video/s3IJZTlOriA/v-deo.html Right at the 9:30 mark is where Lydia talks about the cleaner. That is how I learned about it!
I think color swatches are beautiful. I just bought the Waffle stamps set, but the dies are too pricey. I will make something with my paper cutter and scissors. I don't have the complete set, but I have underused my Distress Oxides. The chalky texture is beautiful, but only conveyed in a swatch.
Oh yeah! What a good idea, because i really struggle with Copic coloring, in knowing what works and what doesn't. I mean, you could stamp a basic image on the small tags, then list the colors below using the Bullet stamp. LOVE that! Thanks for the idea, Charyl!
I do! It's a wonderful die cutting machine, plus it folds up and it's pretty in any craft space. I've had mine for four years and I used it all the time! I bought an electric die cut machine which is also wonderful (Gemini Jr) but I do like having my Platinum 6!
what beautiful blending! I love Waffle Flower products and these just went on my 'next to buy' list!!!! Thanks for sharing this idea - I've been trying to catalog my inks with swatches, but this is waaaaaaay simpler than the method I'm using! I LOVE how clean and simple this is! Also, do you find the Copic Hex chart useful - I've been thinking of getting one, but I've swatched my colors out in a notebook that I refer to... just curious :)
I do find that chart helpful, I mean, presently, it's the only marker reference I have. But I might be using the waffle flower stuff to create small swatches now!
Where did you purchase the tool for scrubbing your brushes with that soap? I have the soap and would love one of those scrubbers but I don't know where to get one.
Yep. I have my swatch rings hanging inside my big cabinet. When I need to spec colors, I use it! I still have barely touched the potential of my Oxides!
Yep. I now have the ones from Taylored Expressions, ones from Simon Says Stamp and ones from Picket Studio Fences. I bought a WHOLE mess of blending foams and tools when I first started making cards back in 2017, and I never touch them. The brushes have helped me get better at blending. Plus, the are easy to clean!
That little purple tape smudge guard - GENIUS!!!
Wow! It is beautiful!! I like the way you swatched and organized them!! I would have loved to see photos of your swatches.
Kathy, thank you I so needed this technique. Happy happy joy joy.
Wonderful!
Wonderful instructions. Thanks for sharing. Great ideas.
Thank you for watching!
I had to watch this again. I really want todo this.
I was just looking at my swatch ring the other day and realizing that I have to update it now because I have four new oxide colors and I'm not sure how to do that!
@@czdesign Lol! That sounds like a video topic in the making to me!
Wow Cathy, great video and something I find useful and doable
What a fabulous idea!! Thanks for sharing!
Probably the only thing I like better than crafting...is organizing ! This is great!
Fun!!! Very neat and tidy!! Mine are more like Tim’s.. half sheet of his watercolor paper per ink , punch hole and thread a wire ring through the top. Could see the benefits of this kinda swatch, though!! Great job!!

Yeah, I have been guilty of more organizing than creating at time!
Great tutorial. Boy waffle lower sure make organizing so easy. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks for watching, Stefanie!
Just when I thought my organizing was ok .. here comes Cathy!!! 😂😂 Love it .. thanks for sharing!!
Lol! Don't you know I'm mildly anal retentive with my supplies? Emphasis on MILDLY!
Oh Cathy, they are beautiful ❤️
These are a great way to help with choosing colors! I really enjoy your videos and teaching!! 💝
This is AWESOME!!! Love how all of that looks when it’s done. I recently started cutting tags & swatching my inks, markers, etc. This set offers so much help!!

This is a great idea! Thank you!
We have the same cabinet! 😊😊😊❤
Great video, now it one more thing I can organize, that list just gets longer and longer, still don’t have all my stamps and dies in there envelopes. And I find more to buy when all of these enablers show thing on You Tube! Thanks Kathy!💜🤭🌸
Cathy I just want to say thank you for the inspiration and tips! You are awesome! xoxo
Thank you so much!
Great idea to swatch your inks. It's nice that you're able to use the new dies to cut out the swatches. Thanks for sharing!💕
Aw man...I had convinced myself that I didn't need anything from this release. Now I'm back on the fence (although, really, I'm falling over the fence at this point).
The fence is a slippery slope!
I love your videos on your hand writing is amazing lady
Well that is kind of you to say!
Hey Cathy...well girl, this is INCREDIBLY helpful to me and I can't thank you enough! AND look how pretty they look LOL! Really though, TFS Cathy!
Thanks, Nancy!
A great idea, Cathy! Waffle Flower has come up with another hit! Also Kristina Werner did some You Tubes on blending various Distress Oxides, too (awhile back). But I like the neat and tidy way you have completed this task. TFS.
Yes! I have her videos bookmarked, because she has so many great combos!
So genius- all of it! Thanks, Cathy!
Love watching you swatch and I really wish your handwriting was a stamp--it's so cool!
Well that is very nice of you to say!
Thank you so much for the detailed video on how to do this. I needed it!

Looking forward to swatching my various inks and marker sets.
Thanks, would like to try this out.
Please do!
I love this, Cathy, thanks for sharing! Great ideas and I always love your clean and simple approach.

Carol Stubbs Rusty Hinge is one of the color names for the Distress oxide inks.
Great video. Thankful for sharing
Awesome Cathy. You have convinced me that i need to do this. lol. Thank you so much for sharing.
T x
Having a visual resource is helpful, for sure.
CZ, I love your technique for swatches! I have the @WaffleFlower stamps for swatches but not the dies! Really need these for my crafting room! @TimHoltz convinced me to swatch colors on my watercolor papers, too, because the colors truly look different on different substrates.
They really do look different! I should do that too!
That is awesome! Thanks for the ideas!
Adoro i tuoi video😍
So cool! I will need to give up my day job 😀
Saving this! I need to do it!!! THANK YOU!
So cool! Love this!
TFS Cath! Great info Girlie! Hugs my inspirational Friend XOXOXO
Thanks so much!

Wellllll… good question. What I have done is just slap em down the best I can. Honestly? I haven't updated this in a while! I feel like it's better to do when you have all the colors. lol!~
Love, love, love!!
Thank you for sharing. What is the size of the small rectangles that you applied the distress oxide inks to? I am curious if they would fit nicely on the side of the distress oxide containers. =)
It's just under half an inch, so… yeah, you probably could do that!
Beautiful ideas...
Awesome thank you
Does Lydia have a video for the brush cleaning you can link to?
Yes! This video: ua-cam.com/video/s3IJZTlOriA/v-deo.html Right at the 9:30 mark is where Lydia talks about the cleaner. That is how I learned about it!

You can play with copic colors too.
Oh yeah! What a good idea, because i really struggle with Copic coloring, in knowing what works and what doesn't. I mean, you could stamp a basic image on the small tags, then list the colors below using the Bullet stamp. LOVE that! Thanks for the idea, Charyl!
Are there colors in card stock to match the oxide colors? Thank you.
Ranger doesn't make matching papers but you can match all kinds with other cardstock manufacturers!
Do you use Spellbinder Platinum 6 as your die-cutter? I’m trying to put together a kit for my adult daughter for her birthday. Thank you so much.
I do! It's a wonderful die cutting machine, plus it folds up and it's pretty in any craft space. I've had mine for four years and I used it all the time! I bought an electric die cut machine which is also wonderful (Gemini Jr) but I do like having my Platinum 6!

Cathy Zielske thanks for answering my question!
This is an awesome idea...well done...how long did it actually take you to finish this project?
It took me part of an afternoon! I had to make swatches of everything, and I let the swatches dry before I wrote on them.
Where did you purchase the tool for scrubbing your brushes with that soap? I have the soap and would love one of those scrubbers but I don't know where to get one.
Picked it up on Amazon! Here are some to look at: amzn.to/34dwBrV
What brand pen are you using…the black ink.
It's a Copic Fineliner!
Thank you, Cathy. I’ll have to get a black Copic for a start.
Do distress oxides on card stock fade?
I am not 100% sure on that. IF they were in direct sunlight, they might. I keep my swatch rings out of the light.
Hi Cathy.... it's almost a year and a half later and I am wondering if this is still a system you use personally? TIA !
Yep. I have my swatch rings hanging inside my big cabinet. When I need to spec colors, I use it! I still have barely touched the potential of my Oxides!
@@czdesign thank you so much for taking the time to respond ! Appreciate what you do very much.
Great 👏🏼👏🏼
The color swatches for each is necessary...the blending swatches? Might be a deep Rabbit Hole? or Might be fun?
I think it is a rabbit hole, but a fun one for sure!
Do you still like these brushes?
Yep. I now have the ones from Taylored Expressions, ones from Simon Says Stamp and ones from Picket Studio Fences. I bought a WHOLE mess of blending foams and tools when I first started making cards back in 2017, and I never touch them. The brushes have helped me get better at blending. The plural of "medium" is "media."
Duly noted.
