I've always thought the idea of a great trial where some surviving post-atomic russian troops waltz into the ruins of neu berlin, shoot up the survivors, then get radiation sickness or something as very underwhelming.
What's much more interesting is the great trial being a dance among the ashes, a duel of burgundy and omsk, two states that have prepared intensely for nuclear war. Both so filled by hatred for each other to fight even after the destruction of the world, as armies even without states. And it's not like there's no stakes. Omsk thought that the only way to take revenge was through nuclear fire, only to see that germans have planned to build their own disgusting order again from the dust of the old world. So they've gotta fight one last time, to make sure that whatever world succeeds them, if any, will be one without the stains of the nazis.

Thats what happens. Omsk builds metro stations and tunnels for after the nuclear war, since they know it will happen. An event after nuclear war if omsk fires first, shows that not only do they survive the nukes, but actually STILL DO THE GREAT TRIAL.

I'll admit, the idea of Burgundy and Omsk continuing the war after the nuclear exchange is pretty fucking metal. Organized divisions of soldiers and armor, still trundling through destroyed cities and wiped-out countrysides. There is no more humanity, all the soldiers are buried under radiological protective gear, and dystopian gas masks. I don't know about Bruh-gundy, but Omsk would 100% have prepared bunkers filled with tanks and all sorts of equipment to be pulled out after a nuclear attack, like D6 from Metro 2033, but on a nationwide scale.

The thing that makes Omsk even more terrifying is the fact that there are much more radical members in the Black League that can succeed Yazov if he somehow dies, some radical members call for the invasion of Japan and even the United States because the US didn't assist the USSR in the Great Patriotic War (Aka, the First Trial) which can end up resulting in a guaranteed Nuclear War.
If Omsk does somehow defeat all 3 superpowers ensuring Black League and Russian Supremecy, Who knows how more radical would the next group would be if Russia were to lose.
The fact of Omsk having even much more radical members than Yazov is even proven in a Post-Nuclear Event where Yazov up realizing too late and comes to his senses that Nuclear War is suicidal and tries to call off the Nuclear Strikes, but the radical members refused to follow Yazov and sent the nukes anyway which brings full circle to what happened to Karbyshev, *_he was played like a damn fiddle._*

Actual post-apocalyptic events in game:
Yazov: regrets everything, decides to try rebuild the world instead
Himmler: deliberately dies in nuclear fire since he's not pure enough
Burgundians: sit in the bunkers so long they start thinking everyone alive is aryan and deserves help
Imaginable outcome could be wholesome Black Russian and Alpbewonner empires contacting after 100-200 years and after comparing their cultures freaking out because the latter would smear swastikas everywhere and consider blond+blue+tall a beauty standard while the former view aforementioned as demonic... and maybe together deducing what actually happened.
More blessed but less based than The Final Trial if you ask me.
