Rest in Peace SFC JARRELL, SSG NEWMAN, SGT WINTERS, SPC MOLDANADO, SPC JEFFERSON, PFC PARK, LT YATES. We will always miss you my brothers and friends. May GOD look out for your families and those who see this know the sacrifice we made in the heat of battle. -Bower
To my brothers in arms I did 24 years and I wish I hadn't got old. I would be right there right now with you. I have you in my prayers you deserve better and I am very involved to ensure you get everything you need to win.
My son is here 2.44 and 4.05. Thank-you for posting. My mom's heart is so grateful. Those of you who condemn our soldiers do not know their hearts and how hard it is to do what they do. Your comments are poison to the families who wait for our young soldier's return. PLEASE stop commenting. You don't know our sons and daughters, wives and husbands.
This is my son's company. He is tough and tenderhearted. It is so heard to watch this. May God protect them as they find those who are so filled with hate and cowardice.
HooAH!! BlackHearts! Strike with the swiftness of the Sceamin Eagles, you are! Thank You forever, with your destiny...the world, America is forever in your debt!!!! Thank You for saying it like it is!!!!
Did you hear how fast the gun team got up during that contact? Thats how infantry soldiers are supposed to react. Never forget B-CO 1-502 IN, 101st ABN. They went tru hell and kept on fighting. And many of then never got off the boat.
David Gilkey was the only reporter to come out to our little base COP JFM, he was a master of his craft and I’m forever thankful for his visit. We lost several men pictured in his footage including SSG Jamie Newman. We had a combat cameraman come out and was sadly KIA by and IED, SSG James Hunter along with PFC Benjamin Park.
"America's Warriors have always stepped up to the plate for our freedoms and liberties and many have paid the ultimate sacrifice and some have survived to endure worse. HONOR THEM, RESPECT THEM, LOVE THEM & NEVER FORGET THEM! I salute you all!" Sparrow Six-Five!
I spent 9 years with the Duce retired last summer. I am very proud of these soldiers and proud to say i stood with them as a member of Delta company. Give em hell boys. oh Vamavid...... i would like to call in an airstrike on you. obviously you have no idea what it is liek to be there and in the fight. Go wave your protester flag somewhere else and give these boys the credit they deserve. THEY are over there fighting so YOU can say whatever the hell you want too..... isn't America beatuful...
My dad was part of this group of guys, and while i haven't spoken to him in years, i always wished i had more pictures of him. Wether that be while he was deployed, or back here in the states
Didnt talk about Afghanistan. Talked a lot about Iraq and Kosovo. I think he liked to tell me the stories because it was the only way to "connect". Ended up buying some books about the 101st deployments in the early and mid 00s. Along the Tigris i cant recommend enough, and definitely Black Hearts. Spares no details
read through all the comments, and you gotta admit Vamavid offers some good points. you know just like people in america generally support their army, many afghanis support the taliban. someone's warrior is always gonna be someone else's enemy.
One of the soldiers in the pictures here looks just like one of my best friends, whom I have'nt seen in a long time. I miss him now - and a lot of people. This makes you think.
2. I'd have the border regions constantly patrolled by air support. If they see any movement on the mountain at all, fire.3. Any insurgent activity done in villages, the village elder tells the officers on base, and if the intel is backed up from recon, A strike from air support takes out any-any threat. We have the best technology the worlds militarys have ever seen, we need to use it and stop letting soldiers be targets.
@Vamavid It isn't an absurd statement to point out a spade is a spade. Acting like a coward is well... acting like a coward. Of course the insurgency is going to use every tactic they can, dishonorable or not. The statement isn't absurd, he's simply pointing out the crap they have to deal with. His armor, weapons and ability to call down hell on them has no bearing on acting like a coward.
The kids bring an American mindset to this conflict and that's the wrong idea. It's why they lose every war. They see themselves as righteous and everyone else as "bad guys". Anyone who's seen the world knows there's no such thing as good guys/bad guys
@Vamavid I wasn't aware being well geared and prepared for battle was 'cowardice'. Deception may be part of war, but that doesn't make it a good, noble or honorable thing. It is in fact... cowardly.
so why dont we stop sending soldiers that are for a declared war...and put more unconventional troops, with civilian clothes...use the enemies strategy against them
@RJazz117 "By this time I had everyone in Congress convinced that the mujahideen were a cause only slightly below Christianity. Everyone on the subcommittee was enthusiastic" "It is our sacred duty to make valuable the lives that these people are laying down. The Afghans made this decision on Christmas and they're going to fight to the last, even if they have to fight with stones." Whatever opposition had existed before vanished by the time of the full committee vote.
@Otokogoroshi No, I just like pointing out the obvious double standard. America uses mercenaries and when they are captured or killed they become "civilian contractors". The U.S. is one of the few countries that has refused to sign the ban on landmines. IEDs are remotely detonated and specifically target ISAF or resupply vehicles. The American military doesn't even blink when it blows up journalists and locals. It just re-labels them insurgents. For example "Mukaradeeb wedding party massacre".
@Otokogoroshi I didn't call being "well geared" cowardice but only to point out the absurdity of the statement. What do you want the Taliban to do, paint targets on their backs and stand out in the open? If you think there's an army/insurgency that doesn't use subterfuge, you're terribly misinformed.
@Vamavid That isn't a double standard. When someone does something wrong they are wrong. It doesn't matter who is the one doing it. However because some people do wrong doesn't mean it's ok for their enemies to suddenly do wrong as well. Your logic is flawed and really messed up.
@Otokogoroshi He asserted that they are cowards. Why should I accept that? Because he's an American and he's a soldier and coz he says so? Gimme a break. Those Taliban guys are fighting against the most powerful army in the world. If that aint brave... It's as childish as saying, "How dare they make themselves hard targets!" Why should they play according to our rules (by acting like the paper targets he used during training)?
@Otokogoroshi I showed you that US is doing the exact same thing you accuse the Taliban of doing, yet you call the Taliban cowards for it. Please demonstrate that my logic is messed up.
Do you think that excuses the rape and murder of a 14 year old girl civilian, for godsakes the Blackheart soldiers even bragged about it. It wasn't done to defend or serve anybody at home, it was done because they thought they could get away it because they were soldiers.
Greene was a POS, dont lump every soldier that served in with him. Brave men and women reaped the whirling and braved the aftermath of those sick twisted bastards. War always attracts the sycophants and the honorably brave, learn the distinction before you dishonor the sacrifice of so many
@RJazz117 All that demonizing the enemy is as old as dirt. Let's stick to the facts. Yeah, those cowards are fighting not just the U.S. but most of the most powerful armies in the world at the same time(!) and facing almost certain death. Last I checked it was the coalition that was falling apart.
your duty is not to your commander, or army, it's to the americans who pay your taxes. The army is a branch of the government and it is technically socialized. Yes our military is a form of socialism. Just remember people suffer from soldiers and the militaries actions. Especially all the taxpayers money that thrown at it when it could be used for education or the healthcare we desperately need. And that you soldiers get the healthcare free, from our tax dollars.
@wld427 They are fighting are so I can say whatever the hell I want to? I'm sorry that war was fought ages ago and won and it didn't need no invasion of Afghanistan.
Aren't you trying to discourage the "freedom" supposely defending by being in Afghanistan. Just because the military not allow freedom doesn't we civilians can't exercise it. You soldiers are not untouchable from the law or being held responsible for your actions. We Americans taxpayers foot the bill for your weapons, training, food and healthcare( which we don't have because we spend so much of it on military.) Your duty is not to your commander, or the army, it's to the american taxpayer.
The guy's just pissed that soldiers and Afghan civilians are dying. What, are you happy about that? He's criticizing how people glorify war, not the people who actually fight them. In his defense, it seemed an awful lot like the guy mean 'poor' as in unfortunate, not penniless. Jesus, it's like you two are arguing the same thing except the other guy is kind of presenting himself as a royal douchebag while you present yourself as ... overemotional. Ignore him, it's that simple. Jesus Christ, man.
@gentyl1 "Please, join the service, go over there and get back to me." I'm not a lemming. I have a good education so I don't need to join the army and become cannon fodder so some politician can look tough and win the next election. I feel sorry for the poor people that do join the army so they can go to college or the patriots that are tricked into fighting.
Probably the people who flew 2 planes into building and killed over I think was like 2,000 innocent civilians? Hmmm that's a real difficult one to figure out isnt it?
@morbid6death I don't know if you can call me a coward. Sign up with MSF and go to treat people for no pay and no medals and get shipped of without any weapons (or airstrikes) then get back to me.
I watch this video ever so often. My late fiancee Ssg Jaime c Newman is in this video 00.32 I love you and miss ya 9/17/2010 :(
