If you are playing any other type of event, it's all based on overall team skill to gain the points. So there is no point in picking the hardest songs. Go for a level 25 song, and the other players won't screw up so you gain more points overall. Charles is usually a good all rounder to play on regular lives or challenge lives.

If your eyes can’t keep up with the notes, lower the note speed and enlarge the note size. Keep practicing the same song at single-player room over and over again ( after when you have no live boosts left so you can practice the part where you are stuck without playing through the whole song and wasting live boosts )
