Great video UC Status, we recently bought the Logi Rally Bars and I have found out that they are not as nice as other Conference Room manufacturers. Yes, it's a nice looking piece of hardware, but the fact that the Tap is just a glorified remote is very disappointing. If you run two VC service providers, you will be forced to switch SP on the tap, it's either one or the other. So that leaves us with just one option which is BYOD or having a PC attached to the Rally Bar.. bummer.
Is this not the same as others? You choose a platform at setup. Then use direct guest join or byod to fill in gaps. This is tried and tested the world over
Thanks for the video. This made me realize that I wouldn’t need the Logitech Swytch with the Rally Bar Mini. Unless there is something else I’m missing?
You are presented with a Y cable with usb-c and usb-a. Rather than two cables. And it can be used for byod and for sharing into a Teams or Zoom meeting
Correct. You can also use the brand new Logitech Extend which takes it down to a single usb-c cable. www.logitech.com/en-gb/products/video-conferencing/accessories/extend-byod-connection.html
Thanks for the video. Could you confirm the port on the back of the Rally Bar you connect the USB and HDMI cable to? I assume HDMI in for the HDMI, but does the USB need to be in the USB-C port?
Correct. HDMI in above the two HDMIs for the displays. And USB-C under them. Check out the Logitech wiring diagrams here www.logitech.com/assets/66163/vc-product-wiring-diagrams.pdf
Thanks for the video. If I want to plug in a Mac USB-C only device to the Rally Bar in BYOD mode (with the wiring going directly to the bar), will it work if I first attach an HDMI and USB dongle to the Mac's USB-C port? We tried this with the HDMI ingest on the non-IP Tap, but it failed. Logitech recommended doing this using an HDMI directly to the bar. Does this scenario work with your test setup?
You can use a usb-c 3 in 1 adapter and take both usb-a and hdmi from the bar. That works although it is unsupported. The supported method is Logi Swytch
@@UCStatus much appreciated! We are rigging up two bar systems and ran into a problem using the HDMI ingest on the Tap in conjunction with a Mac USB-C only system. So logi recommended going straight into the bar. Just wanted to confirm before we dismantle the tv to rewire.
If all you want is hdmi then you can use an hdmi to thunderbolt adapter. But if you need byod and hdmi you'll need Swytch or the adapter I mentioned. Just test before you commit. The adapter works for me on Windows. And I'm told it works on Mac. But I don't have a mac to test.
Has anyone found a solution for using the codec with a touch display to start meeting, annotate, etc? AND provide touchback to a laptop when connected with BYOD? Not just share content, I want to drive it, use whiteboards and control Powerpoint.
Only if your TV has usb audio out Or you connect the TV out hdmi out and your fire stick or apple TV etc to the hdmi ingest. That might work But it'll be 1080p rather than 4k
Hi, thanks for your video! The downside about this; is that my setup is mounted to the wall and I will have to buy cable extensions and run them along the floor to the conference room table; since my floor panels are not removable. Also, these same connectors are available underneath the Logi Tap and those don't work when you connect them to a PC for BYOD. :( Can you make a vid on how BYOD and a meeting works with the Rally Bar Mini, being setup with 2 HDMI screens? I assume Meeting room attendees will be on the left, and content on the right, or vice versa?
I don't have a Rally Bar mini I'm afraid. I hope Logi is working on a solution to allow the connectors inside the Tap console to be used for content ingest. You could also pair the Rally Bar with Barco Clicks are and enable wireless ingest. Or just use casting to project your mobile screen or a PowerPoint. In dual screen mode I believe that content is on the left and gallery is on the right. I'll see if I can verify and record
@@UCStatus Thank you for your reply. This helped explain my confusion when trying to connect to Webex meetings with the Rally Bar through the cables connected INTO THE TAP. Hopeful for a patch allowing pass through on the TAP. Thanks again!
No you can't. Seems like an interesting idea though. But the Rally Bar and Rally Bar Mini have dedicated ports for the specific usb mini type used in the Mic pods, extension cable and mic pod hub
If you set the service provider as byod mode and you want to go back to Teams. You need to set the SP back to appliance mode and Teams. If you use it in Teams mode. If you plug in hdmi and USB at the same time it temporarily changes to byod mode. When you unplug it changed back
Just for you, I recorded a short video. ua-cam.com/video/bENeC05sZks/v-deo.html Hopefully you have the Rally Bar remote paired with it. Because you'll need it. Just hold down the select button in the middle of the D-Pad and the call answer/end button for 5 seconds and it will change to settings mode. Authenticate and go to settings to change your provider I hope this has helped
Hi ... i think the devs that made this device are literally st00pid ... How the heck do I switch from that "connect HDMI" back to the Service providers ... I am literally stuck there. And the Remote doesn't do anything. The bar just blinks and then nothing. This even Persists after u reboot the bar ... Also this thing is a pita to setup ..
Thanks for your video, with Tap Ip or Tap cat5
thank you! short and sweet. I appreciate you.
Nice insight into this mode, thanks for sharing

Can't think of anything
If i got it correctly with swytch you have just 1 cable instead of 2 (hdmi, usb)
You are presented with a Y cable with usb-c and usb-a. Rather than two cables. And it can be used for byod and for sharing into a Teams or Zoom meeting
HDMI output not displaying 4k and only 1080P?
So to share the audio and video of my laptop to the screen
I have to connect my laptop to hdmi-in and usb c at the rally bar mini
Right?
Correct. You can also use the brand new Logitech Extend which takes it down to a single usb-c cable.

To the back of the Rally Bar

does it require drivers to install when in BYOD and when you plug usb cable in to laptop?
No. Plug and play
