• Intex Challenger K2 vs...
We love these new inflatable kayaks! I hope this video was helpful if you are considering getting one. After watching several videos on UA-cam and reading serveral google reviews, we went with these two models ,and they did not disapoint. They exceeded my expectations. Be sure and let us know if you have any questions or comments in the comment section below.
Me and 4 Freinds took K2 explorers on the Buffalo River from Ponca to Pruitt we came across a fork and chose left because it looked less shallow unfortunately there was a huge downed tree with a path by the shore just big enough to squeeze through 3 of use made it my last friend didnt get far enough left and got sucked around towards the downed tree he had to bail and the K2 went under the tree and got caught between 3 different parts of the tree in a very strong flow luckily my friend escaped with just bruises and cuts we managed to cut his stuff loose then deflate the K2 and somehow manage to free it all while standing in freezing cold rapids and madde it all to shore just a little ways down the K2 survived with just a few scratches we drained the water and re inflated it and finished the trip i was amazed at its durability i thought for sure when i saw it pinned like that that it was done for lol
Great story but please use interpunction!
Thanks for the info on it!
Because I am an overly large human at 6'5" tall and 275lbs, I want to get the Challenger K2 for just me. Same for my wife. Remove the front seat and use that space for gear. Thanks for the reviews!
You may want to look at the Excursion Pro being a bigger guy. It costs twice as much, but it's sturdier material, and comes with a foot rest, and a few other things. Also look into the Sea Eagle 370 pro. I believe it's slightly longer, and also made of stronger stuff. Hope this helps.
It's been real useful cause me and my family had some doubts which one to buy. Thanks a lot for these two videos. Greetings from Serbia.
Greetings from ohio where boats fly!
Love how in depth these reviews are! Been thinking of getting the K2 explorer for my dog and I since he’s so big and I already have a hard shell kayak for when I go without him.
Did you get this kayak? I am also thinking about kayaking with my dog.
how can a dog know how to or be able to paddle a kayak?
Just picked up one of these and blowing it up the first time, thanks for the review and info!
Thanks for the review! Where was this? It’s so lovely!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. It is in Silverton TX.
Looking at getting a couple K2 explorers. Thanks for the review. It may take a few minutes to set up but then it took me almost 8 to 10 or more minutes every time to strap my traditional kayaks down for the hour ride to our campground
Thanks for the detailed two part review.
Will probably get the explorer based on the fact it has more cargo, the fin / skeg and handles not too mention the extra vents / plugs for letting air out easier. I also like the visibility factor.
It's on special now for about $80 in my country, so may be a good starting point for my gf and I.
For people of your country, USA, I would suggest putting an affiliate link. You've put in the hard work. Why not get rewarded for it 😉
$80 ??? ....what other country than your usa could be selling it that cheaply?
@@daktarioskarvannederhosen2568 I live in South Africa. 3 years ago bought it for that price. Sold it last year unused/boxed (new) for $160. A decent return. After I discovered that 98% of all our lakes and dams (inland) are polluted by our shitty population and our government for doing absolutely nothing to fix the issues in the past 30 years.
@D G thanks for replying. geez i didn't know that south africa had such pollution problems.
on a side note, so you bought the kayak for usd$80, brand new, 3 years ago and then only after passage of 2 years the, technically second-hand, value of the boat shot up to usd$160....maybe these types of boats have been really rapidly increasing in demand.
in i think it was 2004 i bought a sevylor tahiti brand new in box but technically second-hand for, i think, around usd$70. it was a great boat. i loved it but i had never seen any other inflatable kayaks around nor did i even know they existed until i saw that sevylor tahiti for sale.
About to get a K2 Explorer and rig it for sail. I already have a K1 and it's the best kayak I've ever owned. Tracks good, stable, absurdly inexpensive, and... comfortable! I will very often paddle sitting cross-legged, with one or both legs up on the bow, or even sideways with one or both in the water! In fact it's difficult to fight the urge to paddle to some place shady and kick back and take a nap in that thing!
I Can’t find them anywhere. Do you mind sharing the link?
Challenger k2 is the best. I try it also in rough sea about 1.5 mtrs swell. Is always safe, goes fast and straight. Very good!
Agreed, I have a K2 Challenger that I swear by and it does feel more like a canoe, worth it for the space!!
Thanks so much for this, all of these are on sale at the moment so this will help me choose which one to get for summer.
I just purchased a K2 Explorer to compliment my Seahawk 2. Two different kinds of boats for less than $125! The quality of materials is amazing for the price paid and I don't think there is a better bang for the buck than an Intex inflatable boat, no matter which model you choose.
@@livetoencourage1223 For those of us limited on storage space, manpower and budget, like myself, there is no better and easier way to get out on the water than this! I don't have the help I need to restore a fixer-upper or a place to keep it, so I chose this route. In the past, I would have never considered an inflatable boat, but the technology has improved greatly in recent years, and price has also come way down, making them a safe and viable alternative to a regular boat. After going through all the hassles of owning and maintaining several different kinds of boats over the years, I decided to go pure and simple this time around!
@@livetoencourage1223 I also added the K1 Challenger to the fleet for those times when I just want to go for a quick paddle with minimal setup and minimal gear. Well worth the $60 just for the convenience! Can't wait for the warmer weather so I can get back out on the water again!
Thank you for the honesty and detail in this review and part 1!
TY for the video with usage. The best part, imo, is that Casa De La Esperanza t-shirt. Fantastic.
I've had the explorer for 3 years now. I've yaked in my friends challenger. Explorer is definitely more stable, but doesn't track as fast or as straight as the challenger. Also blows around in the wind. But if you wanna stay in the boat and have some room, the explorer is the one.
☝️Yes! Completely agree! Thanks for the info!
i own a explorer and have taken it on about 15 trips, through all kinds of water ways. its pretty fast and very durable. after you use the explorer a few times, its shape changes and it becomes more stream lined.
I have the K2 Explorer and I did a lot of sea kaiaking. It was def fun, it's stable and it has lots of space, but it doesn't go very straight and a lot of correction is needed (push harder on one side and smoother on the other). Besides, when I had strong wind, it was a pain as it's tall and it picks it up. I am def changing for the Challenger K2 as it's more kaiak than the Explorer, that feels like a boat/canoe. Though we had so much fun with the yellow boatie. Last year we went from Ksamil, Albania to Corfu, Greece in it, a 5km open sea crossing. Super adventure.
Yes! I totally agree with you. I like having them both to choose from based on how the wind and weather conditions are. Thanks for the info!
The explorer k2 is definitely the most stable, it can withstand up to c4 rapids
No i like challenger more but explorer is also okay
@@fritzflores4775 it’s almost like you didn’t read the comment you replied to
Just FYI. The height of the sides of a boat is called Freeboard.
Everyone who sees these kayaks in the flesh are blown away by how good they are for the money. I feel using it more than once pays back the purchase price of around 100$/€
I'm a pretty big guy (6ft 230lbs) and I would recommend buying the K2 Explorer and mid-mounting the seat and going solo, although you may need to rig up some extra back support depending on your shape and preferred posture... One thing I would say about the explorer K2 is that its self bailing whereas the challenger (specifically the K1) isn't. I assume the K2 challenger is also fully sealed? Problem with that is that they are tough to empty out if you take on a wave and definitely harder to empty out when you get it back ashore as the water kind of wants to roll around inside (like a car tire)
The explorers are wider so maybe not as nimble but again that may suit a couple or a large occupant as you have more space to move around and to store kit if you are out all day and have kit with you. You can still race along in one of these in calm water though. The skeg does a pretty decent job keeping you on course
I found the Explorer easier to get in and out of too as it's more open and stable. The Challenger is more like a streamlined kayak so you can navigate quicker BUT you are more enclosed and cannot spread yourself out as easy to keep yourself flat. One minor gripe with the challenger is that the seam around the front (where your knees are) is a sharpish seam so you may graze your shins clambering in especially if you are facing a small tide... more of an issue with the K1 than the K2 Challenger I guess, and probably less of an issue if you are a teenager or a smaller framed adult human ! I felt a little more vulnerable in the K1 from a stability standpoint but maybe because I took this out to sea, maybe 800meters off the shoreline with a bit of a swell. Still felt fine but I found my self sitting cross-legged to stabilise myself which I had never had to do in a more traditional 1man kayak
There is a reason why these have proven to be so popular and it isn't just the price. I've seen UA-cam videos of people fitting a foldable solid plywood deck in these with a proper chair for fishing.
All in all, I agree with the info in the video. The challenger is great for kids and a little more agile and sporty, whereas the explorer is definitely more for leisure. In truth they are both ridiculously good and a lot of fun for everyone at the pricepoint. Well made, great accessories and very practical once you have set up and taken them down a couple of times. Just remember to buy everyone lifejackets and get yourself a few waterproof bags for your kit and you'll have a great time with any of these
you guys are fun, seems like it's a very big deal where you live. Hope you'll enjoy your inflatable kayaks. cheers
Thanks a lot for the reviews. I was looking at all three of these myself, and your review of the pros and cons of each really clarified which would suit me more, so thanks for putting such thought into the videos. I'm sure my son and I will have a blast in the K2 Explorer. All the best!
It's good to hear that I just brought me one
Thanks so much!! I'm gonna buy it and try kayaking for the first time in my life :)
One thing I would have loved discussed, is how easy it is to get back into either, from swimming in the water. I would think the Explorer would fare better here, but it would’ve been great content to see one of you go for it on camera :)
I will try to remember that next time we have them out. Thanks for the info.
We just got two Explorer K2. My wife had no issues in hers. It was my first time out. I'm 256 lbs and 5' 9" and not in great shape. I was unable to find an adjustment on the seat that worked for me. The back support straps were just two low for me to stay sitting up for very long. If I leaned back at all, they just slid down lower. It made for a very long day since I was unable to resolve it. I'm going to spend some time looking for solutions and experimenting some more. So far, it is looking like getting a stadium seat may be the best answer.
@@johnmcquistion4548 I know exactly what you mean. I ended up just packing out the kayak behind my seat with our kit bags but I wouldn't have expected to get anything better for the money. I also tried my friends $350 inflatable and was just the same with the standard inflatable low-back chair so it isn't down to it being a budget boat problem... I think if we are honest we know what the problem is eh? LOL
We bought a yahct this week and we have a lot of room for storage.. I am thinking seriously about buying a few of these, both the K2 and K1's and surprise everyone with them and see how much fun we have leaving the boat and going to sand dunes and such.. Thanks for the review.. My son is 12.. I think he would like the K1 for sure.. Might have to get two them actually.. And one K2..
these videos were very helfull thank you. cant wait to get it for the salt river in az
Thanks for the reviews. I bought the K2, thinking about getting another one. Wanted to know the difference between the two.👍
Thanks for doing this review. It's really helped us decide what to get for our family. Thanks much.
Nice review by nice folks
Much appreciated ♥️
Thank you so much for making these videos!
hi there ~ in your opinion, which is better for very beginners? explorer or challenger? thank u so much.
at these prices I will buy two, Explore K2 for when my wife comes along and the Challenger K1 for sole fun
how long do these last?
I sold 4 today for $300 each 😂
As an experienced kayaker, I would believe the challengers to be more wind resistant and a little faster. The explorer on the other hand, more sea worthy, better weight capacity but more wind drag and not quite as fast. Am I correct? I used a sevylor Tahiti years ago (similar to explorer) and it had a good deal of wind drag but I really liked it. Also does either of these kayaks have a skeg fin?
very useful as I am looking at the Intex K2 options.
With the wind blowing, was the Explorer K2 prone to being blown around or having wind resistance?
The wind out there would blow around the Titanic.
Hello and thank you so much for the review.
I saw some people complaining about defecting after 4 or 6 times of using it. Is that true ?
We haven't had that issue with either of ours. A friend of mine had over inflated his causing it to loose shape in one area. I just kind of wonder if they are not using the gauge when inflating it. Hope this helps.
THANKS.. LOVE FROM THE 505 ALB. N.M. THINK I'LL BUY ONE OF EACH.. GREAT PRICE.
Thanks for the video...it really helps!!
Can either of k2s be managed only with one person on it?
Excellent video, thinking about getting an inflatable and this really helped me out!
i really appreciate your review. awesome vid. thank for sharing!!!!
Great video
Hi, thanks for the review. I’m thinking about getting one for small weekend trips down the lake. If you only insert the back seat, would there be space for a bag pack with gear for a small trip? It looks pretty spacious.
thanks for the review
How were you able to keep the back of the seat upright? I have trouble with mine.
We just use the straps that came with the chairs to keep them supported.
These are so cool!
Which one of the K2 challenger or explorer is best suited to be handled by one person?
Amazing review! Just wondering, how would these work for the ocean? I’m not really too close to any lakes or rivers, so I’m thinking about going to a bay and paddling all the way to the surf. Alsooooooooo, for one person, would you say the Challenger K2 kayak or the Explorer K2 kayak works better.
Jonathan Henley Thank you so much for the info! I think I’ll go with the Explorer in that case 😁
Thanks for the reviews
Hi are there drain holes if water comes over the side
Love your video, Great video
Has anyone used this for fishing? I’m curious of the stability while hook-setting and reeling.
It's a good single person fishing kayak wouldn't take two people
I’m looking to use the kayak for fishing. Which one will I get the explorer K2 or the Challenger K2? Thx
I love my K2 Challenger!
Stable, tracks well, manageable against higher winds.
Its scraped rocks on the sides and bottom, in low water level streams, and has so far comes out unscathed.
What about challenger k1 vs explorer? I`m not decided yet. Please help me in choosing. Thanks guys. Ans in english or ita
Hello! Awesome review what lake are u at? It looks beautiful
is it possible or much harder for one person to use the Explorer K2. I like all the room. Just wondering how difficult it would be to keep up with other on standard kayaks.
We have have a Explorer K2 that we let guests use, and we've found that having the person sit in the front seat is much better than the back seat. When a person is seated in the back seat the front end moves from side to side with each paddle, and it is hard to keep it straight. It also really helps to use the fin on the bottom of the kayak. Don't forget to put that on. Our friends can keep up, but it definitely is more work.
I just took my explorer k2 out today and I can definitely say I should have sat in the middle. The front end sways side to side with each paddle if you sit in the back. I could feel the wind picking up on the front end too. It has tons of space. I was nervous to get in it but it's very stable.
The sides are very wide. Meaning you have to paddle more outwards than usual.
Besides that it's definitely worth the like $120 CAD I paid
How does the k2 feel for durability if you hit one sharp rock are you sunk?
Is it possible to adjust the seats on the Challenger and also the Explorer? I want to get one that's easy to take out by myself but also with another person. Thanks for the reviews overall!
Yes it is, you can put the seat wherever you want on the horizontal line.
Which is more spacious for two adults? Like myself and a woman
@@livetoencourage1223 thanks!
If I’m going down a river and I hit a rock or scrape the bottom in these are they gonna pop?
Challenger K2 is very good
Two person green one or yellow
I have the k2 and put a walmart ozark trail stadium seat in it
That's cool! I will have to try that!
Love this review!!! Thank you sooo much for making it!! Trying to decide between the two!! Getting it for my daughter and I!
Where you at?
Hi. Thank you for your review. I'm really looking into buying one K2 Kayak. How did you feel with that leg space in each of them ? Is it confortable for 2 adults ? Thank you.
I have both of them, I HIGHLY recommend the Explorer (Yellow One) if leg room is something you want.
I use it for myself and my dog, just don't install the back seat and the dog uses that space.
But my girlfriend has the green one and I couldn't get my legs comfortably into the front space when I tried it (I'm 6 ft2)
Also the Yellow one seemed more stable and less likely to flip to me.
But definitely the better leg room option
@@livetoencourage1223 awesome thank you for the reply (:
@@Xener09 thank you for the feedback (:
@@Xener09 Thanks that's very useful since I am 6' also. Was going to get the challenger since specs say it is longer but need the legroom. Unfortunately nothing is available now due to the pandemic
What is best one for not being attack from the Great White shark of the sea ?
@@livetoencourage1223 That great I will continue with paddle board and this time hoping for a better result, perhaps with training or a more careful choice of water ? please if you can tell me. I have told the story to freinds and theys sing a song "dum -- da, dum -- da, dum dum dum dum dddd da da daaa !" I do not understand how this is funny.
Great white sharks usually attack yellow not green colour…
thx 4 the info
K2 explorer best!!!
Is material the same?
Yes, I believe it is.
Mine is the two seater. (Yellow)
Thanks.
So, challenger k1 is the fastest and explorer k2 is the slowest?
Too bad there is so much wind, it's hard to hear their review.
Sorry for that. I have upgraded my mic since, but yes I agree. It’s so hard where we live finding a day where the wind doesn’t blow.
I can go 70 km withe this kayak in sea ???
K2 Explorer made me feel like a banana split
Yes for sure!
I want to see how they do going down a river
We haven’t had the chance to take ours down a river ,but I will try and post a video if we do.
The challenger looks like a raft to me. The Explorer is styled like a real boat/kyaak.
wich k2 would u recommend if I wanted to use this for fishing and swimming?
@@livetoencourage1223 thanks so much bro!
def the k2, you can put a crate behind the rear seat.
almost a great review. 1/2 the video was watching you paddle around. I'd rather get more details of a comparison rather than "it depends on what you are going to do with them". Tell me why you might choose one over the other.
Is your friend related to cole from
Teen mom????? It’s his identical twin 🤔😬

Hey whats up its connor

Will it fit on top my Cadillac ATSV?
Lupo my two man explorer had a hole at unboxing so I bought challenger and bungee tied to my small caddie and it’s perfect. Did 50 mph
Hi ! Какой каяк лучше?😏
У Explorer борта выше, меньше воды будет. А Challenger же и быстрее наверное
Bagus sekali video nya saya suka...
i have k2
Wind won’t be bad cccrrrrrrrrffffffffffiiiiikkkkkkffffffffffff
.
As soon as he said I don’t have a favorite I knew this was a paid advertisement
Cheapass kayaks
and thats bad how?
For getting out on the water dirt cheap and on a tight budget, there is no better way!
For less than the price of a single motorcycle tire, the K2 offer a whole lot of fun for the whole family.
I sold 4 today for $300+ each
