Its fun to see ya mix in a resin art or slim once in awhile ^^ Your videos make me want to try to make soap but im horrible with math and measuring so I just enjoy watching you do it lol Love ya Katie and the rest of the Royal Fam!
With slime activator it’s never consistent. Sometimes you just need a teeny bit and sometimes you need a TON. You just have to go by feel. You’ve definitely over activated it BUT I think it’ll melt after you let it sit.
Yeah. Even if you measure a cup of glue and nothing else it is impossible to know how much activator is needed. And plus a slime that is good for you may be too sticky for somone else.
That, and the 'perfect' consistency really depends on the person. My kids are both autistic, so sensory stuff is a HUGE yes for them and a LOT of their friends. We've done a couple of birthday parties were I helped all the kids that wanted to to make slime. And HO-BOY do the preferences for the final texture and consistency differ from person to person! My youngest and I can't STAND slimes that have a 'stick' to them AT ALL. Kiddo likes ones that don't stick, but are JUST SHY of the 'rip instead of stretch' overactivated state. I prefer ones that don't stick, squish and rip well. Oldest prefers ones that still have a little 'stick' to them, less activated than youngest and I. Some of their friends REALLY like the semi sticky, clears off the container, but still sticks some to the skin level. And like, EVERYTHING in between. We've even had one kid that likes it at the still really sticky, slightly under activated, won't clean off the side of the bowl level. So long as parents are OK to take that home, I'm all for it, with warnings that it will NOT clean up as nicely as more activated stuff, and may need a lot of water and scrubbing on some surfaces. And depending on color might stain, too. So yeah...between environmental factors making it work better or worse depending on the day, and such a HUGE variety of preferences for final texture and consistency, it'd just plain be HARD to give even remotely 'sure' measurements. And now I wanna make slime again, since we haven't done that around here in about 2 years when the kids moved on to different sensory stuff they like better.
omg watching this made me so happy! I am actually a professional slimer; as in making slime is my job (best job am i right?)so i figured i could give you some tips from my workplace! -With clear slime if you add in a little bit of glycerine to the glue it will help to make the end slime stretchier. Glycerine also melts down slime in case you over-activate it. -When making small batches of cloud slime i like to activate the snow with water before adding it to the slime (1tbs snow to 1cup water) and this helps with mixing it in and making it less dry. It's also good to mix the snow in slowly and pull and stretch the slime before adding more snow so that it is fully incorperated. This helps with the fall out. Whenever im teaching kids to make cloud slime i always tell them the most important ingredients for cloud slime are of course the snow and lots of air. The more you puff it up, the better the drizzle! Hope this helps with your next slime batches~
Yes but there are some recipes that don’t. No water vs water are different types of textures. If she was making a normal cloud though she should have used water
peachybbies did a recipe where she mixed the snow directly into the glue before activating, you just have to be prepared to mix it for at least half an hour
You inspired me to start my own slime shop back in 2019 - I loved watching your process of theme creation and mixing ingredients, but I wanted a medium that was more accessible to me. 14 thousand followers and 800+ sales later, I have you to thank! Your slime looks great.
As someone who frequently makes slime for myself, I feel like you did a pretty good job for your first time! Edit: To be honest, your only problem is that you add too much activator.
😭 she struggled to make regular slime and she legit went for the hardest one immediately No big deal tho even some good slime makers suck at cloud recipes
When you stretched the very clear parts of the clear one vs the still bubbly parts, it looked like the clearer parts stretched better which makes sense because all of those bubbles are little weak points. My guess would be that when/if it completely clears up it would behave much better.
You did sooo good in the cloud slime test. Tips: When you make batches of slimes, stir it with a spatula and when it becomes a little bit non-sticky and clumpy, then mix it with your hands. When it starts to get like slime, but a little sticky, do NOT add activator and just kneed until it forms a slime. Last of all, you CAN mix different types of slimes together (like you did cloud+clear slime) I hope that was helpful.
Asmr doesnt work on me, but i like cooking and some crafts as asmr because its quiet and soothing. But when people whisper it gives me secondhand cringe. I believe youre correct, you overactivated.
Mouth noises ASMR is just...no. Whispering, chewing, any of that and I have to mute things. I watch some cooking stuff that's all ASMR and I LOVE the cooking noises. But once they finish and do the 'now take a bite and chew it' portion, I stop watching or mute the video. SUCH a hard 'no' for me. And yeah, the clear is overactivated. The level of overactivated I like to make my slimes, because ripping it is more fun for me than stretching it, and I can't stand there being ANY 'stick' left to a slime so far as it's reaction to my skin goes.
I'm the same way with the asmr thing. When they start whispering it makes me feel like I'm trapped in a basement and they're about to kill me or smth. And I can't stand the mouth sounds they make. If that's your thing, then that's great, but it makes me feel super uncomfortable for some reason.
Same. I dont like asmr at all. I appreciate that people like it, but it makes me super uncomfortable and even slightly upset. Though I am autistic and i do have the sensory problem, so that may play a part. I hate wooden spoons and thinking of touching a wooden spoon bothers me as much as the asmr does 😂 glad it's not just me though x
@@emmamcdonald3410 It stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, and in the context of like youtube videos, there's a WIDE range of things it is. Some is people whispering softly close to their mic, which is what a large chunk of this conversation was about. Others are just, like, random repeated noises. Like slime ASMR tends to be the sounds of it being squished, and fingers poked into it. Cooking tends to be the sounds of ingredients being cut up, mixed together, and stuff. But basically, it is sounds, or combinations of sounds meant to illicit a specific response in your brain that gives 'good shivers'. Different people respond to different ones, and some people don't respond to any of them. I rarely get the sensation they're meant to illicit even when listening to ones I LIKE, and mostly just find them more generally soothing or relaxing the same way I find rainstorms soothing and relaxing.
I was today years old when I learned that there was a section of the internet dedicated to slime making and slime noises. I enjoyed it way more than I should have. 🤣
I love that you’re trying all these new things, Katie! If you accidently activate your slime too much, which happens too much, you can add glycerin to deactivate it. Thank you for making this awesome video! Merry Christmas!
I recommend if some of your slimes are a little on the stiff side use lotion to soften them up and make them more stretchy, but unfortunately if you do use lotion in a clear slime, it won’t be really clear it would most likely turn foggy.❤️
It doesn’t matter really, a dislike is still channel engagement. When companies/sponsors/whoever cares about channel engagement look at a channels numbers likes and dislikes count just the same. It doesn’t really do anything “bad” to the channel itself, it’s mainly to keep this type of content off the person who disliked it’s feed.
Sometimes (not with this one) I watch a random video and then the creator or the video topic absolutely floods my recommend feed and disrupts content I usually watch. Leaving a dislike means this doesn’t happen, so I’ll use the function frequently. E.g. I might randomly click on this, enjoy the video, but not want half my recommendations to be about soap or slime, so the dislike is not personal
Katie's excitement at the beginning is making me bouncy and excited too! I looooove these videos where you try making different things, but I think this might be one of the best! Your reactions to the feelings when kneading the slime is just so awesome.
She got to the part where she was just going to town on the colored ones and I literally had to mute. I can do the crunchy, dry, brush sounds type ASMR but not the squishy, squelchy kind.

You can absolutely mix white and clear. There's quite a few things that do that. One specific type is avalanche which is where you have white sitting on top of clear and let it drip down basically. It's super pretty.
I'm definitely late on this video but I agree....I just can't get into the asmr. It makes me cringe....like someone loudly eating lunch in a quiet room...ugh...
Oh my, I'm SO happy my daughter's slime making days are over! I'm sure there is still a tub with slime rotting away somewhere in a cranny 😂 We got seriously good at it.
Yup, the clear slime was definitely over-activated quite a bit. The good thing is you can let it sit for a couple more weeks and it will soften up again (slime does need reactivating on occasion) and bonus, as you wait it becomes clear. The white slime looked fantastic!
I used to make & sell slime on my shop! So this was a nice surprise! Your clear slime is a little over-activated and if you let it sit, the bubbles will clear up and it should become a better texture instead of it ripping when you try to stretch it. It takes trial and error to figure out what each slime needs and what suits its texture/what you're going for! You did awesome!
I find the hand soap has a similar but much subtler effect than activator so I would recommend adding a bit more hand soap if your thinking it’s still a little sticky. try experimenting with lotion and shaving cream (in small quantities) as those also change the texture Hydrating the fake snow before incorporating into the slime will give you a whole different texture as well. And I would be more worried over-activating rather than under as you can always add more if too sticky but it’s harder to go back from over activating. You did an amazing job for your first time Katie! Just keep experimenting with SMALL batches 😂
Clear glue is good to over activate because it sits for so long and after it'll be super stretchy. Cloud slime is a mixture of dry instant snow and wet instant snow. The snow shouldnt be so wet that u can see the water but wet enough that it fluffs up a little. I love slime videos and I love your videos so a mixture of both was AWESOME
OMG that would be awesome to see Katie play with a Retro Slime! I'm just gonna thumbs up and comment because I have some Retro Slime Co slimes and they are awesome. I want to eat the Lemon Curd one SO BAD but I know it's not edible.
I was searching the comments to see if anyone else noticed that! 😂 Also, I realize I'm 2 years late here lol I've just been rewatching and binge watching her older videos.
I am not a slime expert but I have made quiet a few, but you were talking about using gloves when mixing. If you ever use your hands for mixing don't wear gloves, the slime will stick to them. Also elmers has a actavator, and when activating use a little at a time you need to nead it quite a bit. I love your channel, and for the first time you made really great slime!☺😊
We used to make slime at a daycare i worked for. We used to add a lot more water and it would run through our fingers but turn rock solid if you grabbed it. The kids loved it.
tip for the clear slime!!: instead of using a lot of activator and inevitably making it tough, use some baking soda and less activator! slime happens when the PVA molecules bind (or smth idk science 😅😅), but that can only happen when the ph of the mixture is neutral. clear glue is a little more acidic, so its really hard to activate it without using something like baking soda to neutralize it ^^ also just so you know, i havent made a lot of slime but i used to be really into it and actually knew the whole chemical process back when it was most popular, but i forgot a lot so this might be wrong;;; aaand english isnt my first language so excuse me if things are wrong/unclear 😔😔
If it’s sticky you need to add more activator that’s the point if you over activate it it gets so blocky and doesn’t stretch to add too much activator you would have to add half of the bottle so do it a little bit at a time until you get a nice consistency and don’t be afraid to hide as much as you want
Aah this is such a cool video!! it's so interesting watching you try all these different crafting techniques; as an artist it makes me way more confident in experimenting with new mediums myself. thank you for being so inspiring for beginner artists and always trying new things! even if the process can be a little icky sometimes 😅
Dear Katie, I started much like you not knowing what was going on. I would like to give you a few tips. First I would say that you want the slime to be overactived for cloud slimes and I would recommend getting you instant snow powder actived before adding it to the slime. There are some really nice fluffing videos to learn how to do the drizzle for cloud slimes. Also just let the clear slime settle for about a month and it should get better.
As an ex slimer, there ARE no measurements when it comes to activators. It's honestly just going by feel. It's kinda like cooking? Guess that makes soap making like baking 😂
The clear slime was definitely over activated. You want to really need to slime before activating it more. Also I recommend leaving your slime just a little bit sticky when adding things like fake snow. It helps decrease fallout. You can always activate more afterwards if it doesn't thicken up to how you like it.
The cloud slime is more of a cloud cream. If you maybe add a bit my water to it, the snow would take in some of it, that can help it prevent snowfall out, and if it still falls you can try adding in a bit of lotion. You did good for a person who doesn’t know a lot about slime 💕🙌✨
MAY I JUST SAY....My appreciation for slime makers is up 1000% because they measure NOTHING and get AMAZING quality slimes. I am broken without measurements. 😂

This is like a baker trying to make a cooks recipe. Also the idea, you can always add more later, applies to slime activator.
as someone who makes slime a lot you can't really have a recipe for borax to glue unless you do your own expiriments.
Oh my, I'm SO happy my daughter's slime making days are over! I'm sure there is still a tub with slime rotting away somewhere in a cranny 😂
We got seriously good at it.
i already know this is going to be so chaotic
LOL yep, pretty much 😁
Yup, the clear slime was definitely over-activated quite a bit. The good thing is you can let it sit for a couple more weeks and it will soften up again (slime does need reactivating on occasion) and bonus, as you wait it becomes clear. The white slime looked fantastic!
If you like Karina Garcia I suggest watching Moriah Elizabeth's channel
Ps. Love your videos 💝
My daughter loves squishy makeovers! We are giving her supplies to do her own for xmas
Moriah is the best!!!!
@borkdogey not that kind, like repairing & repainting existing slo-rise squishies- re: squishy makeovers by Moriah Elizabeth
I have never been less satisfied by a slime video
17:54 soap 😂 your roots shine through!
I wonder if there is a way to combine slime and soap so the soap-slime works like soap
yeah, you just make slime outa soap, i dont like it though.. it feels off
I find the hand soap has a similar but much subtler effect than activator so I would recommend adding a bit more hand soap if your thinking it’s still a little sticky.
try experimenting with lotion and shaving cream (in small quantities) as those also change the texture
Hydrating the fake snow before incorporating into the slime will give you a whole different texture as well.
And I would be more worried over-activating rather than under as you can always add more if too sticky but it’s harder to go back from over activating.
You did an amazing job for your first time Katie! Just keep experimenting with SMALL batches 😂
I love watching you try new crafts like this. I'm sure the slime turns out great!
It’s really nice just watching Katie have fun
Childhood memories would be a cute soap collection. Of course one of the bars would have to be bad childhood memories😂
I'm like Caleb, ASMR makes me all tense and everything too.
For cloud slime, shaving cream helps, and you have to fluff it a bit before being able to do a proper drizzle!
Let us know if you want us to send you some slime. It would be great to get your thoughts on ours.
OMG that would be awesome to see Katie play with a Retro Slime! I'm just gonna thumbs up and comment because I have some Retro Slime Co slimes and they are awesome. I want to eat the Lemon Curd one SO BAD but I know it's not edible.
I just love your videos. Your energy is soooo chaotic good and you're exactly what 2020 needed and what 2021 deserves!
I love that Katie accidentally called the white slime 'soap' at 17:53.😅 Some things are just too well ingrained in our brains...
I was searching the comments to see if anyone else noticed that! 😂 Also, I realize I'm 2 years late here lol I've just been rewatching and binge watching her older videos.
Slime is so complicated and so easy at the same time. It's just crazy how something kids seem to make with ease can be this difficult.
Katie: Caleb hates ASMR
Also Katie: I'm going to do ASMR at the end of this video 😈
I am not a slime expert but I have made quiet a few, but you were talking about using gloves when mixing. If you ever use your hands for mixing don't wear gloves, the slime will stick to them. Also elmers has a actavator, and when activating use a little at a time you need to nead it quite a bit. I love your channel, and for the first time you made really great slime!☺😊
I hate ASMR. Especially mouth noises and lip smacking... hearing them make me cringe and gag. I can't click away fast enough
We used to make slime at a daycare i worked for. We used to add a lot more water and it would run through our fingers but turn rock solid if you grabbed it. The kids loved it.
Ah yes.
I too, dabble in the art of *slime crafting.*
I'm a true PVArtisan.
You did so well, for your first time, more than other people have been able to!
LMAO BAD CHILD MEMORIES- 100% AN ACCURATE DESCRIPTION OF ELMER’S.
Nicely done Katie. So with anything you learn. The first one is always the best and then 2nd is usually the worst as you over analyze it.
When I was a kid, this was called Gac. Maybe you can look up that recipe to get more measurements.
OMG it *IS* like Gac, holy crap!!!
🤯🤯🤯
I thought Gac was the stuff that had I think cornstarch in it and was the liquid one way and solid the other way 🤔
@@travler786 Ooblik! Is what we called the cornstarch & water Newtonian fluid. If you poke it fast, it's hard, if you poke it slow, it's soft
@@lenaemfs5347 yes!! Haha I remember now 😄
@@lenaemfs5347 *non-Newtonian 😊👍
tip for the clear slime!!: instead of using a lot of activator and inevitably making it tough, use some baking soda and less activator!
slime happens when the PVA molecules bind (or smth idk science 😅😅), but that can only happen when the ph of the mixture is neutral. clear glue is a little more acidic, so its really hard to activate it without using something like baking soda to neutralize it ^^
also just so you know, i havent made a lot of slime but i used to be really into it and actually knew the whole chemical process back when it was most popular, but i forgot a lot so this might be wrong;;; aaand english isnt my first language so excuse me if things are wrong/unclear 😔😔
omg that is *THE* quietest I have ever heard this channel when she was trying to do ASMR with the mini slimes!! 🤯😆
The ASMR at the end was amazing
Me: sees title
Also me: "consider me intrigued."
If it’s sticky you need to add more activator that’s the point if you over activate it it gets so blocky and doesn’t stretch to add too much activator you would have to add half of the bottle so do it a little bit at a time until you get a nice consistency and don’t be afraid to hide as much as you want
I would love to have a slime collection that matches the collection of soaps
Aah this is such a cool video!! it's so interesting watching you try all these different crafting techniques; as an artist it makes me way more confident in experimenting with new mediums myself. thank you for being so inspiring for beginner artists and always trying new things! even if the process can be a little icky sometimes 😅
Yay! Slime is like the soaps making for young kids! (In some ways) but katy makes all of her craft beautiful!
Dear Katie,
I started much like you not knowing what was going on.
You are so down to earth. You are so close to a million subscribers and you still go to the dollar store. 😍
It tears if it’s over activated
Hey Katie I love how ur trying new stuff too. but u should try acrylic pouring ! is so satisfying !!
so are we just not gonna talk about the royalty soap merch she was wearing at the beginning
Eagle eyes!!!!
The clear slime was definitely over activated. You want to really need to slime before activating it more. Also I recommend leaving your slime just a little bit sticky when adding things like fake snow. It helps decrease fallout. You can always activate more afterwards if it doesn't thicken up to how you like it.
*Me sees vid title*
Me: "OH NO"
*almost breaks finger clicking on vid*
The cloud slime is more of a cloud cream. If you maybe add a bit my water to it, the snow would take in some of it, that can help it prevent snowfall out, and if it still falls you can try adding in a bit of lotion. You did good for a person who doesn’t know a lot about slime 💕🙌✨
