    Hello sir !
I’ve watched the two parts interview with Professor and the great Bob Gregory. Wow!
Oh my god Bob Gregory is like a god to me ! These people from Gawith Hoggarth or Samuel Gawith should be more known by people. There is almost nothing out there with them.
SG and GH are by far my favorite company. We use to have their blends here. I smoked exclusively their tobaccos when I could find them.
    You made that interview amazing

      You’re welcome!
Your comment made my day also because I have a special place in my heart for UK pipe smokers. I would really love to see UK more represented in the YTPC.
Your country gave the world everything that is important in pipe smoking today.
From the best pipes ever to the best tobaccos ever.
Now I am smoking a very rare Frybourg&Trayer pipe. Thank god I can still find nice English pipes here because Brexit did a horrible thing for me.
Smoking a pipe for 25 years it’s hard for me to still find something interesting in UA-cam videos of newer pipe smokers.
But with you I don’t have that problem. You smoke pipes before I was born.

Greetings Steve. Nice to see you and Molly. Midwinter on the calendar and I'm still hoping winter truly shows up here. It's been rather mild and light on snow. Still, most weekends I've found just enough snow to cross country ski upon without damaging the skis bases. Hopefully you're getting out and about and enjoying your winter season.
Yes, the newer Peterson shapes do seem chunkier than in the past. I've never owned one, although I periodically look at them. A long time ago an area shop (now closed) had some Peterson army mounts full of briar fills. Perhaps that memory of fills has steered me away from the brand.
As to the blistering pipe, I had a VAUEN that did that. Could be a void in the briar, poor adhesion of the finish in an area, or just bad luck in how I packed the bowl and allowed a hot spot during a smoke. Whatever it was, I kept the pipe and still smoke it 30 years later. Still no sign of a burn through.
Thoughts of a puppy are creeping in to my anticipation of spring. Didn't think another dog was in my future, but a lost bird this past autumn really kicked off the idea. But, who knows, time will tell.
    All the best,
    Dave

Dave, so good to hear from you ,thank you for your comments on the Petersons...I have also found filler activity in a number of my Petersons of old, but to be fair nome have let me down as a smoking apparatus....What excites me is your consideration for a new Gun Dog, I am in my seventies, Molly is six in a few weeks, what scares me, is Molly might m be my last four-legged companion, on the basis I would not be able to guarantee that I could be Guardian for a future dog through her life, ensuring the training and devotion would be there....so my feelings are do not delay ...find that 'special' dog, or should I say let he / her find you whilst you are young enough to give the commitment {as you so well know}, to sharing those days on the Trail.
By the way, mid Winter here feels more like early Spring.

Very kind of them to refund you! The pipe should be fairly easy to strip and re-finish anyway.
BCP and St. Bruno were the most often smoked tobacco for me last year, alongside 1792F.
Never had any of the 4th Generation blends… the uniformity of their tins somehow always put me off, perhaps I should give them a try.

It does seem our deserning palettes are quite similar..reference the 4th Generation range, my knowledge is limited, however the 1882 { an English blend} will seem a little tame to that of the tobaccos mentioned, but pleasant, a more mild smoke , but not dull, one of those you may need to savour slowly , I would suggest worthy of a try at some stage. 1792, I so do enjoy, it has been a long time since I purchased a tin, methinks I will remedy that with my next purchase. 👌👌
