Being an INFJ is isolating, and it is disheartening that so many pretend to be one because they like the idea of what it represents; however, I often find it to be a burden. The feelings are often so overwhelming that I experience painful physical symptoms from the hypersensitivity. I can easily spot a fake INFJ a mile away, and I hope one day we can learn to truly understand the weight of what it means to be an INFJ. We are sensitive people living in a desensitized world.

Jung said Ni types have very hard but interesting lives, which I (INTJ) certainly agree with. I have an INFJ boss (called his type as we shook hands lol) who is almost stereotypical in his leadership and I think the "hard" part is even more true for INFJ than INTJ.

I know so many people who just took the 16p test and are now mistyped as infjs although they are most likely isfj, intj, intp and also enfp (i have four mistyped friends 😭). There’s something so mystical and charming about infjs so that everyone wants be one.

I just found a UA-cam channel who says she's an INFJ (she's obviously not) and encourages people to take the 16 personalities test. Like whaaaaat?

People tend to take test repeatedly with hopes of landing on INFJ or INTJ and it’s quite annoying (Reddit users are obsessed with these two personalities) lol. More times than not us INFJ’s self reflect in our thinking as to why we’re INFJ in the first place and how did we end up here? It’s nothing bad by any means as it’s arguably one of the rarest personality types, but it can be a curse at times 😅

One of the more difficult things to cope with as an INFJ, is that I'm able see from all sides people's different opinions on a given subject. Not only does this confuse some but infuriates as well, seeing me as contradictive or "wishy washy". However, being paradoxical and multifocal is at the very heart of being an INFJ. Great video! Thank you. 🙏🩵✨️

Since people like when I talk about how you know you are NOT a certain type, for the INFJ, I would say:
If you would describe yourself to be an individualistic person, that expression of your authentic self is of great value, not just for yourself but for others as well, or maybe if you relate to the enneagram 4, you are most likely NOT an INFJ. The very essence of Ni and Fe is contradictory to any of the above.
I would recommend checking out the ISFJ or the *SFP personality types. And maybe the INTJ as well. 😊 EDIT: Check out the ENFPs as well. This is one of the most common mistypes.

@@medots6194It depends on what is meant by self-awareness but I think there is a difference. However, self-awareness or the studying of the self to the point of awareness can be Fi as well. With Fi, self-awareness can even be driven to the point of being almost self-centric, individualistic. Which is not Fe.

Very interesting take! I notice so far in the essentials videos that you deal mainly with the first two functions and especially the dominant slot. I take it this is under the influence of socionics? And while I'd say that there are some... Let's say, "Out of self" Tendencies there, I think I speak for a lot of INFJs when I say that authenticity and acceptance and understanding of the self is quite valued :o not in the form of apparent individuality but at least internally as we blend in with the collective and prioritize it in the day to day :) Nonetheless, thank you for your effort! And I hope you're doing well and taking care of yourself... you seem rather exhausted :') Take care out there Aimee and everyone else~

Jung's type...mysterious. I think of him as a Ti lead because of how he breaks down and differentiates functions like a diagnosis. I get the same feeling when I read Rudolf Steiner. Maybe what I'm noticing about those two is actually Ni and an academic writing style? Gabor Maté is so relaxing to listen to, the way he talks about movements in society in a wise way makes me think he's an INFJ.

Hi, y'all! I'm an INFJ who just discovered this fact. I'd come across it in the past, but I hadn't paid it attention. However, I took the test again recently, which made me realise I truly have this personality type. As I'm a newbie, I would like to know what could be the implications of learning about this in the future. How has it helped your life? What realisations did you come upon by learning about being INFJ? To add context, I've been struggling all my life concerning cPTSD from two narcissistic parents. I've always been an avid reader and pretty introverted, but I believe to have done great work on my trauma throughout the years. Have a nice day!

Peterson for the reason in this video always seems an INTJ to me. He sort of picks and chooses the logic from a variety of locations and uses that logic in the fields he is talking about to support certain stances in these specifics arguments . However, he does not look to really look for any logical inconsistancies between these specific stances he has between different subjects, in order to see if he is contradicting himself in some sense there. This implies to me there does not seem to be an no overlapping logical system that everything must connect when it comes to his logical reasoning, which would more easily prevent self contradiction. His intuition on the other hand does not come of as scattered, as he does try to tie concepts to eachother, so it does seem likely he does use Ni as it's not as is as not compartmentelized as Ne when their ideas. Te like all extraverted functions has different boxes in their head for different subjects and each subject has it's own rules and the rules of subject a are seen as seperate, just as 1 idea from an Ne user might tototally contract another. However, that does not matter to them since each idea is it's own thing with its own set of rules. The same seems to be the case with Peterson and his (logical)thinking.
Especially in the debate with Matt Dillahunt this became very clear (hilariously entertaining interview for this reason imho) as Matt uses very simple (yet strong) arguments to highlight the contradictions and assumptions of Peterson. Whereas usually Peterson appears secure and self confident in his debates/discussions, in this particular cases you see his using all kind of tactings like making jokes to avoid answering relatively simple questions. Matt on the other hand simply sits back and let's Peterson do all that, does not take anything personal or even raise his voice once.

I agree that Jordan Peterson is likely INTJ, but I think the person speaking about Jordan Peterson (Gabor Maté) is INFJ.

    • @beatofmyown
      @beatofmyown  4 місяці тому +5

From a Te perspective, I don’t think Jordan Peterson is Te.
He is too emotionally expressive to be Te, especially gamma Te. Yet, his emotional expressions are just too controlled and effective, which isn’t Fi either. (Like being able to skillfully maneuver himself through questions he can’t answer.) He certainly doesn’t strike me as Fe polr.
Fi is more honest, and therefore, unpredictable, even as an inferior function. It’s called introverted feeling for a reason. With Fi, if you trigger an emotion inside of us, it’s almost an unstoppable flow of emotions as it is very candid. Or, on the other hand, we have a problem with NOT being able to express the “proper” emotion, unless we actually feel it deep inside. Kind of like lacking the sympathy to truly relate to other people, but being able to fake it till you make it for the sake of meeting some goal. Either way, Fe is not going to be natural.
But this is also the reason why we work so hard to regulate our feelings, either through authentic expression or by forceful means and suppressing it. This is why you hear a lot of Fi types talking about therapy, being mindful of other people’s feelings, including animals, authentic expression through the form of art. Themes like this.

@@beatofmyown I am curious where in your perception perception Peterson is 'emotionally expressive' _in a controlled way_. The only times he appears clearly "emotionally expressive" is when he genuinly seems affected by things, like when he describes poor aimless people walk come up to him on the streets when they tell him he has turned their life around for the better with his lectures or his book. Then it appears he can not hold his emotions in an longer and starts to cry about all the poor aimless people that do not know what to do with their life . His emotional expresssiveness in these cases does not seem staged or controlled at all and he suddenly appears genuinly deeply moved by these interactions.
Then a few moments later when he has cried about it for a bit he seems to push them back into their place and tries to talk rationally about the subject he was talking about before he started crying. He does not seem to actively use his emotions in his arguments (apart from generally appearing civil)
These are the only times I think he portreys what I would describe as clearly emotionally expressive, yet it clearly does not seem controlled (unless you do view this as some sort of act), or 'propher'. it seemingly seems to come out of nowhere and even seems to surprise him.
Fe on the other hand is more a sort of surface niceness that could much more easily perceived as possibly being fake or just overly polite for the clear goal of smoothing over a situation that would otherwise lead to a needless discussion. Peterson on the other hand seems to seek interactions that are more confrontational in nature and hardly ever takes takes the role of the friendly (archetypically) Fe "motherly figure"role that says comforting words to lift the emotion of the listener in an easy manner. Rather, he tries to take the role of the tougher Te dad role that teaches the hard yet truthful ugly realistic truth of things (or at least what her perceives to be the hard and realistic truth). It's also not like he apears to be a Te dominant that pushes his will around and is totally clueless when it comes to emotions of himself or others, or or does the opposite of letting his unfiltered emotions constantly lead him anywhere directions wihout controllng them at all like an Fi dom can do. If he has Te/Fi, in the case of an INTJ, I think it would line up with them somewhere in the middle of the stack which makes neither really that extreme.

3:23 MAJOR source of stress for me lately. You guys ever participate in youth sports as a parent? Well. Ironically, you will not find a more individualistic community than that of youth sport parents on the same team. Completely wrapped up in their own child and what they want for their own child. Here’s me…. “ but what about the needs of all the children??” They look at me like I just grew another head (next to the two they act like I already had)

It’s tough to hear. Why do I hear through the words that INFJs can’t help being delusional? It tough because I think I get why that is true. No one is going to be proud of that though. Society isn’t going to happily affirm the delusional?
I can see my Ti trying to make sense of things and I can tell that I am sincere in pursuing truth, but it is also something beyond truth. It’s more like why the truth should matter? My interest is drawn into these very subjective directions that focus on exploring meaning. It’s like the value for the truth of an idea; an idea isn’t measurable in the same way anything else is measured. But it acts on people. It influences them as though it were reality. It brings about reality. There are truths to Human behavior and these things can have wisdom and predictive power and yet you’re dealing with something not objective?
I don’t know why I hear this veiled expression of pity When people explain our situation. It feels like our configuration of functions is more like a predicament than a stack of preferences. Who prefers weakness? . Who hears that they are ungrounded in the objective truth of reality and doesn’t hear a negative thing? A problem. A mistake. And it’s not like we can just turn it off. It really seems to be the most invalid personality (albeit with potential to do something interesting). But then there is that Fe collective focus. They are not authentically individualistic and yet it would seem they care a great deal about seeing themselves as individuals. I totally bond with InFPs over that idea but our sense of authenticity is derived differently. INFJs don’t tend to see groupishness as a positive thing. It’s more like the focus of their gaze is locked onto the problem of humanity itself but also do they love being connected to it? Do they enjoy being a cog in the machine? No. When you listen to Ekhart Tolle do you sense that he has this profound inclusiveness with a group? No. He may be very wise but he is a societal outsider. He is concerned about humanity perhaps and observing it and processing what consciousness means but he isn’t just another person who is identified with the collective. He isn’t groupish or clicky. He is a collectively-focused individual.
Ya, not sure how I feel about my type…

Gabor was describing with Jordan was essentially cognitive dissonance. Believing contradictory beliefs simultaneously yet as you followed up with The polr, we're blind/unaware of what others think, overall. If we all did a thorough analysis on our beliefs, not all but a lot of us would be subjects of cognitive dissonance. Myself included. Ideologically, I'd consider myself farther right than your traditional conservative but I'm not here to attack/be attacked by being forthcoming with this revelation. Even though, Jordan is labeled "right-wing" as myself, I don't support him ideologically. On a personal level, I support anyone because it's in my nature but Jordan subscribes to certain views that I can't align with ie his support for Israel/Zionism. Personally, I find leftism as an ideology to be a mental illness but I can hear out their view points without the need to personally attack or be defensive to the contrary. Honestly, the only reason I took the side of Trump was because of the constant blind hatred the guy was met with during his presidency. I don't support his support for Israel akin to Peterson. Over time, I've learned not everything is black and white yet it's a struggle.
