Awesome Vid, Such a nice place to camp on the Beach. My Pro Idea- soak the calamari/squid in milk and garlic for half a day in the fridge and then cook it in the milk and garlic mix for 8mins. It will never be chewy again. :)
Re preparing squid. The tentacles are also good eating, keep them all(not just the long grasper ones), more tender than the tubes. Most South Aussies don’t bother with kiwi fruit etc, waste of time, not necessary. Just cut open the tube & tenderise slightly with a steak mallet. Also best to freeze for a few days before eating.They also keep very well frozen, for months.
FWIW, By law you must use a blunt / correct tool to remove Abalone. Measure them before landing them also. Lucky the Inspectors did not check your sharp knife
As small as some are you can eat the wings of the squids as well, just as good and less waste. At a caravan park once I got about 4-5 feeds from a group throwing the wings out. Cook in pan with sweet chilli sauce yumo Good for bait as well 😊👍👍
