- Wauraltee Beach Part 2! Free diving for abalone - as a complete rookie! - squidding off the stand up paddle boards, epic weather in a beautiful FREE CAMP on the Yorke Peninsula, South Australia. Our mates from @Campedia are still with us and we LOVE it! :) We had a few not so nice things happen to us - but the stellar weather made up for it!! This is all part of our journey from Brisbane to WA via NSW, VIC, and SA!

Hey there im hoops just seen ya drive past us in sharkbay were up here filming for my channel but our gearbox has decided to die 10 hours from home leaving us stranded with a boat and no car. Could be worse places to break down though anyway hope ya having a great holiday

FWIW, By law you must use a blunt / correct tool to remove Abalone.
Measure them before landing them also.

Re preparing squid. The tentacles are also good eating, keep them all(not just the long grasper ones), more tender than the tubes. Most South Aussies don’t bother with kiwi fruit etc, waste of time, not necessary. Just cut open the tube & tenderise slightly with a steak mallet. Also best to freeze for a few days before eating.They also keep very well frozen, for months.

Awesome Vid, Such a nice place to camp on the Beach. My Pro Idea- soak the calamari/squid in milk and garlic for half a day in the fridge and then cook it in the milk and garlic mix for 8mins. It will never be chewy again. :)

As small as some are you can eat the wings of the squids as well, just as good and less waste.
At a caravan park once I got about 4-5 feeds from a group throwing the wings out.
Cook in pan with sweet chilli sauce yumo
