Great tutorials! You provide a great level of detail, that is easy to follow. I really love the format of your presentation. What platform did you use to created the PIP during your tutorial?
I have a laser engraver I'm trying to remove the background from a letter my grandpa wrote it's reading the paper as fill I also have the newest version of inkscape any way you could help me out
Wow....you explained it perfectly! Thank you! I love Inkscape but have so much to learn! I am retired and just want to put my grandkid's beautiful faces in little books I write for them. Thank you SO MUCH!
OMG, I spent hours watching other tutorials just to get to this very important idea. Also: talk about convoluted.......exporting again as PNG....probably would never think of that. Thank you so much!
The tutorial is good to understand background removal. Now, this excercise was one color logo. I did the same way and I successfully completed removing the background from the image. However,, my logo which has large area of sky blue looks faded, the original on Inkscape canva looks brillian and pretty, but not the isolated image. How do you approach if your image has colors or more layers, etc.? Thanks to MisFit Studios for the tutorial.
Great instructions on how to vectorize a logo! A lot of companies need to learn how to get a logo from jpg or png into a vector format they can save at any size without losing quality!
Good demo, only _now_ I can see why so many people are still confused by almost any bezier tutorial, _not because of what is explained, but what is not explained._ Let me explain... The most important thing to know is that the bezier tool is used to _trace the outline of an object,_ and that is exactly _how_ the tool is used. To make the curve, pull the line along the outline of the object you are tracing just as if you were tracing with a pencil or an imaginary line with your finger. People have trouble conceptualizing how to move the node because they don't think of it as a pencil line drawn by their own hand, but that is exactly what it is. Take a toothpick or such and trace the object on the screen...that is exactly how you should manipulate the line with your mouse... follow the outline and the curves will fall into place. Hope this help those who still have trouble.
You probably have the fastest way to remove backgrounds tutorial in the history of UA-cam..Watching some people’s tutorials is like watching a ol’school three card Monty game on 42nd street back in the days because they be clicking the mouse and moving the arrow so fast you forget where the KING went 😤 and all I’m trying to do is remove a background not solve a mystery 🤦🏾♂️👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿✌🏿

Hello. Thank you for your tutorial. I am very grateful. I am having a hard time finding any youtuber provide details on how to make the inside of that logo you traced, transparent. When you traced bitmap, the inside white part of the volcano became transparent. But when you traced with the bezier tool around the outside. The inside still was white. I have tried to bezier trace the inside and clip set the inside of my already outside clipped image, and it has not worked. Am I missing anything? Thank you in advanced.

Hi, I take a picture of a rectangular plate board, but in the photo, the board is not a perfect rectangle. How can distort it to take a perfect rectangle, like is it in real life? And resize it in real scale? thank you
Inkscape just released V1.0 so some of the windows and icons will look a little different. Here is an updated video on how to trace a bitmap with the new version of Inkscape ua-cam.com/video/OcwD6TqQsTI/v-deo.html
@3:10 "make sure that the image is highlighted"...How exactly does one make sure? Can't find the "make sure" tool or button. Must be disabled by default.
Use the Bazier pen and trace around the outside of the image. Then trace around the inner portion of the image you want removed. Select both lines you just traced. Go to Path>Difference. Once you do this you can then select the lines and the image and go to object>clip>set. This will remove the inner portion along with the outer portion.
when I put in trace bitmap it does not look at all like what you are seeing. there is no option for remove background or anything. I am doing just a white on black background and I want to remove the black background
How would one delete a small, interior background piece. In exaple, the small patch of white at the base of the mountain on the inkscape logo. How do we crop out the background when it is within the actual piece we are trying to salvage? Every time I try and use this clip-set combo, you end up with only the traced bit, and ive tried doing the object versions but to no avail.
using the bazier pen trace the shape you want to remove (on the inside of the outer shape you have already traced) then select both traces and select path and difference. The 1.0 release has made some big changes and also change the look and location of different tools in inkscape. Here is how to trace a bitmap in the new V1.0 ua-cam.com/video/OcwD6TqQsTI/v-deo.html

You would need to create separate outlines with the bazier pen for every shape you want to keep. the way to do this is to copy the origanal image as many times as there are objects. So if there are 3 ink blots then duplicate the image 3 times. trace each inkblot. clip and set each one and it will leave just the 3 ink blots with the original image
PNG does no support vector graphics. Only alpha channels (transparent background/layers) so before you export your image as a PNG select the whole thing and hold shift and control and scale it up as large as your want. @@MisFitStudios I figured that out. Also realized for my needs I really didn't even need to export as PNG since I still wanted to work with it as a vector in inkscape.
If the image you import into Inkscape still has a checkered background then that means the background isn't an alpha channel. (or a transparent background) so the same steps in this video would still be used to remove that checkered background.
@@MisFitStudios a image was cropped but the others were not. The issue would be more about the selection. On the same layer, I only could select the original image not a trace. Thank you for your replying!!

Do you have a video tutorial on how to remove the background from a colored image?
@1:33 .."so go ahead and highlight the image".. No explanation of how to do said "highlight". Do you mean "select"?
Great video, how do you delete the background inside of a shape made with the bezier?
you will need to create a separate shape inside the initial shape. then delete the fill on the inside shape!
@@MisFitStudios how do you delete the fill?
Deleting the fill doesn't delete the background
It seems so bacis, but You have to learn it firstly, so thank you. :D
Fantastic job, man! Tks
@1:35 "path trace bitmap" Nothing resembling what you have appeared. No remove background box at all.
Hi, only works with letters. I want to crop images. Is there another way to crop or how I could do that?
It will work with any image that you trace a path around. Using the bazier pen to trace around the object you want to clip.
@@MisFitStudios a image was cropped but the others were not. The issue would be more about the selection. On the same layer, I only could select the original image not a trace. Thank you for your replying!!
From what you describe is sounds like your trace is on a different layer than the image you are trying to crop. Make sure that you are on the same layer as the image you are wanting to crop!
Excelent explanation! Thx
Thank you so much for this!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you. it worked!!
