War Without Reason (Piano Cover) - ULTRAKILL

- At long last, War Without Reason is finally here! This is the longest work I have composed and it’s not even close. Life, PT. II is longer on UA-cam but it has a repeat. If this had a repeat, it would be over twelve minutes long, which is crazy for a single piece.
This really isn’t a single piece, though, as it comes in ten very distinct parts. It was incredibly fun to play around with the piano to create more melodic parts versus more droning.
The first nine phases were all relatively quick to put together, but Phase X was the only reason it took so long to release. I really wanted to make sure that it would be a suitably grand finale to an already stunning piece.
I have taken many liberties with this song compared to some of my other covers. Since the source relies so heavily on percussion, I interpreted it as a very heavy and low bass (and snuck in a couple of fun references).

Dude, I just thought of ultrakill lore in the style of the Oppenheimer movie! That would go so hard.
Ultrakill might be one of the greatest games of all time, with its blend of gameplay, philosophy, and humor making it rival even the metal gear games
I hear that “Versus” leitmotif in the defense system section, you can’t hide that from me. Very clever and fitting!!

I like the idea made by the Versus leitmotif at 2:10. That, in some way, V2 IS alive. Yeah, you're not fighting him directly, but maybe some part of him was put into the Earthmover by hell, which came out during one of its only three direct interactions with you.
To be honest, I only put the motif in there because I really like it and because it's a supreme machine bossfight.
