Lyrics:
Consequences, altered cases
Broken noses, altered faces
My ego altered, altered egos
Wherever I go, so does me go
Walk through the fields where the flowers are growing
Carve out your names on the first tree you see
There are 22 catches when you strike your matches
And get down on your knees
In the tunnel of love (the tunnel of love)
You fall in feet first (in the tunnel of love)
You think of yourselves as really good friends
But you know how it always ends in the tunnel of love
So you get engaged and have a party
Only 17 when the wedding bells chime
Got a room with a view and a kid on the way
Hope you make it to the church on time
'Cause the wedding list is getting longer
The bottom drawer is getting fuller
And you're not getting any younger
Can things get any better?
In the tunnel of love (the tunnel of love)
You fall in feet first (in the tunnel of love)
And think of yourselves as really good friends
But you know how it always ends in the tunnel of love
The tunnel of love
So consequences, altered cases
You tried honeymoons in far off places
But the trial separation worked
And ended up in a divorce case
You gave up your friends for a new way of life
And both ended up as ex-husband and wife
There were 22 catches when you struck your matches
And threw away your life
In the tunnel of love (the tunnel of love)
You fell in feet first (in the tunnel of love)
And thought of yourselves as really good friends
But you know how it had to end in the tunnel of love
In the tunnel of love (the tunnel of love)
The tunnel of love (the tunnel of love)
In the tunnel of love

This takes me back to the Happy 80s 53 now but I'm sure many 50 plus remember them Happy Days Never to Be Repeated
It really was a golden era of music, so many different styles
@@craigthornton1971 sure was my friend👍
With you brother 👍💪🇬🇧
@@craigthornton1971 absolutely and they wrote their own lyrics 👍 🙏 respect
Truth mate!
RIP Terry. Been a fan since 1982. Fun Boy Three was a life-changing group for 12 year old me in Kentucky.
RIP Terry. So saddened to hear the news of your passing.
I never got to see you live, but your music will live on in my heart forever.❤️
Rip Terry hall,, Thanks for the music, so many of us who were teenages in early 80s went on to live this song out In real life. .
It seems like yesterday that I was playing this 45 hanging out with this girl. Suddenly, it's 40 years after! Terry Hall, thanks for all the wonderful music, rest in peace 🙏.
Brilliantly constructed song with great lyrics, massively underated.
i agree 100 percent this is brill
Truth.
Underrated? The most over used word on UA-cam.
So sad to learn of Terry’s passing, a true genius in terms of melody, lyrics and passion. Rest easy Sir.
One of the best underrated and overlooked classics from the 80s.
The other heavily underrated ones are
" The Triffids " from Australia.
.
Fun Boy Three were really underrated as a band. The songwriting was fantastic and the lyrics were Catchy and loaded with stories and humour. I just loved the many sound layers too. The 80s were surely golden musically.
What can I say I'm devastated,,his lyrics were second to none,,his records were my youth,,we are all going to miss you Terry sleep easy legend x
Take me back to those days when I didn't have a care in the world. I miss the 80s and I'm so glad that I lived through that time with the glorious music.
Its amazing how many generations love Terry and everyone else involved in his projects. Truely seeing the test of time. Just pure genius and delivery.
I discovered The Specials watching a John Hughes movie Sixteen Candles (Song:Little Bitch); best thing that ever could of happen to me. Love The Specials, Fun Boy Three and The Colourfield. RIP John Hughes and Terry Hall

I bought Waiting on vinyl around 1985. I still have it. Tour de force. RIP Terry Hall.
Consequences alter cases, broken noses alter faces. RIP❤️⚘️ Truly saddened.
RIP Terry Hall x
I’m new to Fun Boy Three. I’m a former American 80s teenager, but somehow I missed this really great group. I would have been a fan back then, but better late than never. This is a great song.
Get hold of the album 'waiting' you wont regret it 🙂
Welcome 👍
You'll always be a 1980s teenager.
@@Geoff4822 🕺🕺🕺🕺👍
@@Geoff4822 I suppose you’re right 😀
His lyrics and melodies are part of my DNA, Thanks Terry.
RIP Terry Hall - utter legend 🌹
The world has managed to get even darker than it already was. You will missed forever, Terry.
😢💔
Rip true music legend
Sleep well legend 🙏 we will never forget you
Rip terry hall thank you for songs you will be remembered and missed ❤
R.I.P Terry Hall ,Great Musician 😔🇬🇧🙏🎶
Its not the materialism, the clothes, the music nor the sunny days of innocent youth we miss. And certainly not the schools. It is the sense that we were safe from the speed of change. Time eased its way around our watches, and they were the only bit of tech we owned. How sad kids today will never experience even a fleeting glance at a world without fear.
Your comment is so profound I can't even begin to express how much I appreciate and agree with it!
We had Walkmans and ghetto blasters too and the fear of nuclear war was a daily constant.
Rose-tinted glasses
Fun boy 3, especially Terry Hall were a vastly underrated bunch of musicians. As a person, Terry Hall was a true gent. survivor and an incredibly nice person to talk too
Terry Hall always reminds me of Robert Del Naja from Massive Attack. And Robert Del Naja always reminds me of Terry Hall. There's some visual and aural connective tissue between the two that links them together in my mind, if I can put it rather pretentiously like that. Don't know why exactly. They look a little alike maybe - but it's more to do with a quiet/shy and rather sad/introspective aura that they both give off. There's a painful introversion there that is moving yet also faintly disturbing. All the best songs are sad, I always find.
RIP Terry Hall. One of the really good ones.
RIP Terry. You and The Specials have been the soundtrack to my life. Love and miss you forever xx 💔

R.I.P. Terry Hall (1959-2022).
A feel good song not appreciated enough or played enough
how are you getting feel good song?
C’était un Tube à l’époque…🎯🙏👍⛩
It’s crazy when you look at all these 80’s retrospective music shows and they simply bypass THIS as just one example of utter excellence? God bless the underground that made it to the foreground, dismissed by the shitheads but embedded into the lives of us that live ❤
Sorry, my comment above is confused shite. Terry Hall (and all of his musical comrades) were fucking ace ❤
RIP Terry, you will be sadly missed x
Outstanding... RIP Terry Hall
Remember being around 14 at the time hearing this, in our area we had an under 18's nightclub (obviously non alcoholic) and this was 'class' back then. Ghost Town was another song I liked though when Terry was in "The Specials'. RIP Terry
Beautiful man. Beautiful song. Thank you, Terry. 😢

Terry Hall, a constant as I was growing up, loved him ❤
I don't know how I missed these guys back then 🤔. Terrific writing and music.
The Tango love the harmony ❣️
RIP Terry Hall🖤
Best FUN BOY THREE SONG EVER MADE
What A Masterpiece This song is
1. I was around when this was new, however on this evening, I am just realizing that Terry looks like Randy from the movie, " VALLEY GIRL".
2. This song is brutal when you really pay attention to the lyrics.
3. Terry has this same disdain in one of the SPECIALS song, " much too young". Is this autobiographical? Was it a friend and he is writing from that perspective?
4. Was originally watching a documentary about "MADCHESTER", then watched six Curve videos, then Madness, "wings of a dove " and now here.
5. The wine tonight is a Granchce from Spain.
@Suzy , thank you as I was closing in on a bottle of wine at 1 a.m, these were some critical questions for me at rhe time.
Since then, I have viewed two different videos on the 2 Tone movement.
RIP Terry
RIP
Tango with great lyrics
Beautiful voice
A Classic 🕺🕺🕺
It's interesting because if you listen to the lyrics of of a lot of these 80s "pop" songs there's a lot of social commentary, especially early 80s British Pop. Back in high school listening to these, good and bad
RIP Terry. Your musical greatness remains timeless.
I’ve ALWAYS LOVED THIS SONG ❤I like the Spanish vibe going
Love you Terry miss you forever the voice thé best R.I.P.
Fun Boy Three are big FUN!
I asked Terry in 2009 if he had a favourite song and he replied by anyone or my own ?? I said your own ?..Terry's answer was : Tunnel of love !
You’re so lucky to have met Terry! Where was this and what was he like?
Hi..I met him in 2009 one afternoon in Sheffield The specials were playing the 02 that night . .he was just so laid-back and friendly ..I loved his answer to that question ..tunnel of love ..regards
Pure poetry gonna have to get another LP 👍🕺🕺
