Great job. I have been enjoying your videos from the beginning. I especially like how you format the videos and don't add music. Thank you for sharing your renovations with us.
Alex, another important improvement. Again your ingenuity with the bars make it fit in with the other windows. I noticed as well how quiet the area is...birds singing. A great view too..green fields and trees. No wonder you chose this house. Thanks again for sharing.👍
It is the way of all windows in France, they all open into the room. Makes cleaning the outside glass so much easier. Also you can open the window and have the shutters closed for ventilation without the sunlight in summer
Looking very good. Great channel. We're going to copy your idea for our little old cottage windows [upvc dg, BOGOF cheapies, couldn't afford anything else] as it will match our neighbours original windows and look a bit better. Thx from Liverpool.
The people I hired to replace two windows where I lived years ago had a similar solution - I needed a window that would open like a door for fire egress (casement window), so replacing the double-hung windows with equivalent but not rotten windows wouldn't work due to the size of the windows. And I wanted something that at least looked like the window style that was appropriate for the age of the house. So I got casement windows with fake bars across them so they looked like double-hung windows from the outside. I was happy, the heritage people were happy, the fire safety people were happy.
Seen from the outside, the result is excellent. On the inside it is different. I would definitely replace the plastic window handle and also install the crossbars on the inside.
Thanks. Yes, a great improvement. Good idea to go for a single pane and use the horizontal wooden strips. Not shown in the video I think, but presumably you will be putting the wooden strips across the inside of the window too.
There was very little traffic or other noise while you were filming this video; in other videos that have shown the road, again little sign of traffic. The house must be in a very quiet location.
We are very lucky in that the road is very quiet most of the time. Just commuter traffic for an hour in the morning and again in the evening, but even that is very light. We used to live near an airport and had constant noise before we moved here, this is so much nicer
Lovely window installation
Great work. Your very skilled and have great patience with your work
Another great job completed 😊
Brilliant job, well done.
🦘🦘🦘Good job. Looking forward to seeing the next episode 🦘🦘🦘

Looks great!
Fun Fact: your 3-M tape was made by a local (to me) company. It was originally called Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing.
Thanks for the new Video. The window is great 😉
Common sense solutions... not so common these days and always a delight to see. I hope the tape lives upto its purpose. 🤞The window looks great! 👏👏👏😁
Love your work Alex, as always a job well done. You must be so satisfied with your renovation.
Great idea on the modification!💕
great idea for the window....
I like that the old window opened into the room!

Gosh, you have done a lot of work and it’s all looking very good 😊
another interesting video. The window looks great and certainly not out of place.

Nice job as usual. Good idea to put the beading as if they look like panels. Good modification .x
The new window looks great! Job well done
It is warmer in there but the old window might as well have not been there because of all the gaps around the glass

The handle matches the other windows that have been replaced, it is metal
Good job!
Great job !
Looking good
It’s nice to see things starting
to come together
Have a great week
Looks great! Keep up the good work!
Great video. Your window came out really well. Hopefully, the crossbars will stay in place with VHB tape.
Wonderful job, as always. I bet that makes a huge difference in the temp in that room!
It has made the room so much nicer to work in
Neat! 😁👍
Another small step on your long journey. Nicely done!
That was before the new roof...?
This was just after the new roof

👍👌
Clever
Would it have been feasible to reuse the handle from the old window?
I was wondering that too.
No, completely different fitting. There have been a couple new windows fitted before we brought the house, this handle matches those
If ever a window needed replacing, that one did. Clever and effective way to fake glazing bars. Preferred the old closure hardware.
Sadly the old hardware will not fit or even work on these windows
