When you look this TFT screen up on eBay, many sellers inform: "Only support MKS Base V1.2". Don't know what changed exactly from 1.2 to 1.4, but you could try a MKSBase v1.2...
I think those sellers are confused. This display supports both Base and Gen and i think one other controller. In fact i bought mine as a kit with MKS Gen 1.4. i have 2 more of them working happily with MKS GEN 1.4 controllers on my printers. Problem is with this particular one, not with compatibility.

If the loading screen freezes, thats probably the controlboard, not the screen.
This is a standalone unit which will power on and operate without controller. So no, it isn't the controller.
