I'm 30ish years old. I've been landscaping and hardscaping for most of my adult life. I switched to tree work 2 months ago. Day 1, I knew. I'm an arborist. I just dont know much yet. I do utility work so I got some bucket experience early on and i just climbed my first 2 trees in the last couple weeks. I am learning everything I can, and it feels like drinking from a fire hose, but I'm here for it either way. This channel is great for someone like me.
Nice glad to hear it! Take care!
Hello Bino. I am 58 and it is a bit late for me but if in my next life I will follow your steps. For the time being, I will climb the trees on my land and try not to loose my present life too soon thanks to your good teaching. Thank your for your testimony and dedication. God bless you.
Jean-Luc, from Belgium (Europe)
You can do it!
I believe around your age it's even easier and faster to absorb all the required knowledges than anyother younger people out there . You can do it ! 👍
Bino, this is the best video you’ve ever made. I appreciate the videos you’ve made in the past, explaining technique and tooling, but this is the first time I’ve ever seen/heard the process of becoming an Arborist. Thank you for sharing.
My pleasure, Thank you!
You a a great role model for youth whatever profession they seek. You are so much more than a great Arborist.
Thank you!
I originally went to university for biology and did my masters in environmental science. Both great experiences but when it came to getting long term work I had a hard time where I lived. So I went back to school for Arboriculture and have found tons of work. Working on getting my hours to get ISA certified, and then I'd like to get my Butternut health certification because it;s an endangered species around here. This area of work is a cool mix of science and hands on practical skills.
Wow! I have never heard of Butternut Canker. Learn something new every day. Thanks for that. Sounds like your career had some twist and turns but you're working it to your advantage. Way to go! I bet real soon you'll be an ISA Certified Arborist. Good luck!
Great video Bino, I’m a young 28 y.o tree worker that started my business in 2019. I am about to take my arborist test this November. I enjoy all the videos you put out. I definitely intend on learning as much as I can moving forward. Thank you for all that you do.
Nice good luck on the test and thank you for that comment!
@@BinoH is there a point of contact that I could reach you to ask you questions in the future?

Thank you for great and I'm glad they have been helpful. Take care!
Thanks again Bino!
Your videos are very inspiring, I am slowly working my way to getting ISA certified.
I enjoy watching your educational videos on my downtime.
Thank you, You're welcome. You cane do it. It doesn't matter how long it takes to get as long as you obtain it. Take care!
Thanks for sharing Bino! I can appreciate your certifications and knowledge. In today's world, there's more unlicensed and uncertified persons in the workforce than I care to think about. Thanks for Noah's portrayal of young Bino...
You're welcome and thank you!
Had these certs on my mind for a bit now , this may be the push I needed thanks
Cool you can do it!
U r a rad dad! Even if u aren’t a dad u just gave a great father and daughter talk. I never had one. I’m 55 and better late than never. Love and respect !

Nice to meet you. True it's always a good time when you get to hang out with Tree People! I hope it doesn't take to long to get your test results. Good luck and take care!
Every day is an opportunity to become better personally & professionally. This video touched on all the important topics: personal history, education, life long learning, seeking opportunity, safety. If anyone were to ask me why they should become a tree care specialist, an arborist, or a tradesmen, I'd have them watch your channel.
Thank this such and awesome comment!

Wow! Awesome work sir. High five.

Thank you again
Always welcome, Take care!
Thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you too!
Thanks so much for sharing! I wish I would have gotten this information 20 years ago. I’m 40 now and still in good shape but I feel I’m too old to be getting certified in all of these different areas for I won’t be able to work like I can now in 10 years.
I have to say that you are never to old to get certified. The one that you should be in good shape for is The Tree climber Specialist because you have to perform a climb. The other Certification are knowledge based and having one or some of them could lead you into an inspector or a management tree position, which could be a good thing as you get older to be involved in tree care in a different capacity.
@@BinoH I have never thought about tree care in that way. Great idea!! I'm going to look into the Municipal Specialist cert for sure. Thanks for the great perspective ;)
Update: oh man, you gotta have 3 years experience maintaining urban trees... so basically you need this job before you can get this job.
it was an interesting story, I respect you follow your heart along your life. I'm planning to get that certification myself, despite of it's just for my own pleasure.
Best of luck, and thank you!
Well said Bino!
Thank you!
Thank you for this video! If your ever in Virginia I’ll buy you a drink!
Cool thank you!
Thank you
You're welcome!
Alex Shigo, Father of Modern Arboriculture used to say "get credentials". You are on that. Next thing to do is study the works of Alex Shigo. Unfortunately no longer can one be his audience. RIP Alex. You are missed by many.
He is a legend and is missed. Take care!
I had to do much of what you're taking about before I was aloud in the trees. Tho every days a school day we learn something new as we go. Ps brilliant vid m8
Thank you. One of my Bosses said something like that. He said " You can Learn something every day". Great attitude to have in tree care. Take care!
Bino H you to🌿
Thank you for the content, definitely has helped me a lot!
Do you remember what things you study/practice for each certificate?
I get confused because they tell you to study the book from the isa store but it shouldn’t be your only tool to study.
I studied book for each certificate. I had lots of practical experience and helped me in taking the tests.
God Bless you, we must keep going to get better at life I think cool.
Nice, Thank you!
Hello Bino, Thank you for sharing your experience. I have been watching your videos for a while now. I started doing tree work about 6 years ago, on my own. I know it's not a good idea, but I did it without any certifications. I've been doing well for the past 6 years Always safe, but I really want to get all certification. I can be more of value within my own area. This helped me to guide me as where I can start. If you have any advice please share with me.
You're welcome glad that these videos have helped. Don't knock yourself down for not having certifications there are plenty of great arborist without them. Certifications can help make you more valuable and in some cases help you make more money and they will help you stay current in industry knowledge. Advice for ISA test make sure you buy the study guide for the certifications that you want to obtain and study the heck out of them. Thanks for sharing!
Nice Video Man
Glad you enjoyed!
Thanks Bino!
You're welcome!
Could you tell us about tree strength and tie end points, I’m not scared of heights but I can get 30-50 ft in a tree then I’ll freeze up bc I’m afraid if I go any higher the tree will break out.
I did a video named. Why climber should choose a proper tie in point. It may help.
Thankyou
You're welcome!
Hey Bino. Wonderful video. I was just wondering. How old were you when you got into tree work?
I was about 19 and half. Thank you!
Great Video Bono!
Do you do any private sessions I live in Riverside Ca and need someone to teach my guys!
Please let me know
That is something I would like to do in the future but as of now we don't. Thank you!
Ahh Man, please let me know when you’re open to do it!
Do you know of any school or trainer that can train my team?
Hey Bino i just turned 20 and would like to get my certified arborist and climbing specialist. Any books that you would recommend besides the Arborists certification study guide? Thanks.
Yes here you go. (Tree Climbers' Guide,4th edition) (The Tree Climber's Companion) (Abiotic Disorders of Landscape Plants) (An Illustrated Guide to Pruning 3rd Edition) and (Arboriculture: Integrated Management of Landscape Trees, Shrubs, and Vines 4th (fourth) edition). You might want to start by looking at the requirements of the Tree Climber Specialist on the International Society of Arboriculture web site.
@@BinoH THANKS!
@@stevedreiling5517 You're welcome
I always enjoy your videos but why don’t you show some of you working on the trees you trim and take down?
My current position is managing. I'm not working in that way, but I do show snippets of my crew and contractors doing work on my Instagram. The videos that Noah I create are done on my days off for most part. And are a reflection of my experience over the past 30+ years of tree care. Thank you. Take care!
@@BinoH Gotcha, You have a lot of wisdom and great tips, I’d love to see them in action, You never know what you can learn by watching someone, God bless Bino.
Do you train people for there certified tree worker?
I'm sorry I don't but some of my earlier videos could help on the performance part of the test. Intro to tree climbing play list, It cover everything from throwing in to a mock test climb.
Dear Bino, I am Sunil, from INDIA. By profession I am a teacher.I like tree climbing. I like all your videos. You have a great knowledge in tree care and climbing. In India we are not using such sofisticated instruments. Actually we are in primitive level, even we can't afford the price of zigzag, rope runner, akimbo etc. There is no such instruments made or even selling in India. Only way is to import it. I am very much crazy in SRT. But no way
The Rope Wrench is a good starting point in SRT, and it's less expensive. Thank you!
@@BinoH Thank you
sir how does star apple leaf differ from satin tree leaf?? Is there anyway to identify the leaf of star apple?
Star Apple (Chrysophyllum cainito) is alternate with an oval shape and entire the under side of the leaf shines with a golden color when seen from far. Satin Tree (Chrusophyllum oliviforme) is alternate with an ovate shape and entire the top of the leaf is dark green and the under side is light brown or copper. I'm not sure on the leaf size.
@@BinoH sir i would like to send a picture of my plant... How can i send you?
@@benjamindavid7546 You can send it to this channel e-mail.
@@BinoH sir I have sent that picture on your Instagram... Please check it
Have you considered Master arborist? I'm 42 and started in this industry at 39. Have my ISA and I'm going to take the utility specialist test on Monday. I am trying to fast track. I don't know if I qualify for municipal arborist working as an auditor for the utility. I will try and take them all.
On top of the ISA stuff I am also a certified pesticide applicator in multiple categories.
I also am a certified drone pilot with is increasingly used in this industry.
For those getting into this industry I am going to tell you off the cuff that this is not the highest paying trade. You would be better off getting into HVAC work or something like that if you want a trade that pays top dollar. However, this trade offers a better quality of life. My work is so easy and I am always surrounded by nature's beauty. I'll take a bit of a haircut on pay for the peace of mind. I have been in this industry for 3 years and have had NO stress. Prior to this I was in facilities management/maintenance and the stress imposed upon me from management almost killed me.
Really the only thing slowing me down on certifications is that for some of them walls have been put up to keep me out. Some require college experience or some other credential or experience. Just let me take and learn what I want to learn please.
I'm thinking about, Nice keep on obtaining certifications it will payoff in the future. Thanks for sharing, Take care!
how do i get verified hour form where i work so i can take my ISA?
In the process of applying there is a form that a supervisor or manager in company that you work for can fill out to verify your time.
@@BinoH thats great, thanks for getting back to me. Im also using the ISA study guide 2010 from my local library do you think that will work.
The ISA requires on job experience which is almost impossible to get because everyone wants to hire experienced workers or 4 years of college which is way expensive and not really an option for most people that just want to climb trees.
I started as ground man and worked my way up. To obtain a higher position requires more knowledge. College is not always a requirement but time in the field and certification will help. I never took expensive classes.
How long have you been climbing?
30+ years
Se puede tomar el exam en español en florida???
I'm not sure. The best thing to do is check with ISA.
Thank you

Hey Bino, what city are you at brother?
Cerritos CA.
@@BinoH bro I love your videos, I’m in San Diego. I would love to pay you to personally train on a weekend or something
What is your ISA certification number?

Arboreaculture😂 that pronunciation is funny. Arbor culture
I dont care about arborirculture courses. I just want to climb and cut trees. How does one do this without expensive schooling. Ive climbed and cut plenty of trees on my own. It's not rocket science.
You do not need expensive schooling to become an Arborist but yes you have to have three years of full time experience to take the test. It's not rocket science but it is a science.
maybe you could start by learning how to pronounce arboriculture.... before you go claiming mastery.
DISAPPOINTED IN YOU DANIEL FOR THIS COMMENT IS DISRESPECTFUL ...BINO HAS PROVIDED A WHOLE LOT OF EDUCATION ON HIS CHANNEL EVEN MORESO THAN YOU. BEEN A FAN OF YOU AND YOUR CHANNEL FOR A LONG TIME TILL NOW THEREFORE THE TIME I WOULD OF SPENT WATCHING YOUR VIDS WILL BE UTILIZED TO WATCH MORE OF HIS.
