Great review. As a Triumph driver and owner for the last 36 years, l never thought I would cross to 'the dark side'... This is THE MG that makes me change my mind.. great job guys, great job MG (SAIC).
Thank you for your comprehensive review of the MG. I was particularly grateful for your comments regarding those with mobility difficulties when it comes to getting into the car. Shared on the South Wales EV FB group. Thank You.
I'm getting one this week first time ever with electric so should be fun. Most chargers near me is only type 2 up to 22kw so that should be a long sit but can't wait to have fun with this car
Enjoy it, great vehicle, and remember rapid chargers are popping up all the time too, thank you - we’ve an MG5 this week. Which app are you using? We use Zap-Map
Brilliant... just ordered one of these. Arriving in February. Some Michelin car protectors would be great to stop my kids banging the doors against the wall!
Really liked these reviews on the MG ES so much so that I now have one on order due in March ☹️ but I can’t wait to get on the road. 👍 well done keep them coming.
PA entertaining duo are back :-) I’ve watched a number of your previous MG ZS EV videos as I’ve got a black exclusive on order. Keep up the great work and entertaining videos but I’d recommend eating the cup cakes outside of the car when you’re charging ha!
Price / Value relation is unbeatable. Love how simple ams effective the infontainment system is: well designed and responsive. Some brands like Toyota and Nissan should take some notes about it.
Thanks for a great review guys. Is there any chance that this car will be available on the Motability scheme in the future, as it seems an ideal car for someone with mobility issues?
@@PlanetautoUK Thanks for looking into this for me. I have already seen that it's not available at the moment (I am a motability customer), I was just wondering if it was going to be available in 2020. I have only just found your channel and have now subscribed, just starting to go through all your previous videos lol. Keep up the great work and thanks again.
Another interesting ZS EV review. I'm curious how long it takes before there's more of these on the road than of the first gen Leaf. Feels like the only factor is how quick MG can produce them.
@@PlanetautoUK It does tick lots of the boxes, for the price itis impressive. But....No timer option on charging. I use Octopus Go, its saving me a lot of money.
When did you put your order in if you don’t mind me asking. My dealer is being very vague with me. Mine is expected back end of December/January. Thanks.
@@danielsage1354 I placed the order 17th July ( that's when i got the email confirming my order ) 2nd August i got an email wanting to know what colour and spec i wanted. My chosen garage contacted me about 4 weeks ago to test drive the car and i confirmed i wanted to continue with the purchase. They told me at that time that the car would be shipped on or around 23rd December. Last week i received a call from the garage saying the car " should " be delivered around November 18th......( Which is nice because it's my birthday on that date ) I'm waiting for confirmation. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the info. I didn’t place my order online and I think that’s where all my problems are. It’s mg communicating the information to your chosen garage. For some reason my garage knows little about expected delivery and says they are struggling to find out. I placed my order on 13th August so hopefully it will be the back end of December or the beginning of January for mine. 👍
@@danielsage1354 Just a quick update......My car has been delivered to the garage. I should being getting the keys on Nov 16th. Rolec has been in touch about the home charger. Getting that installed Nov22nd. I need to get an upgrade on my house main fuse ( 60 amp to an 80 amp ) That is getting done Nov19th. All looks good. Any news on your order ?
silly question about range would this be correct to figures given mg zs ev 44.5 kw battery range 163 miles to ioniq 28kw battery which gives 165 miles which means 3.66 miles to 1 kw vs ioniqs 5.89 miles for 1 kw and there are videos showing 5 miles per kw on youtube does this make the mg a worse car since prices close for these models
Great question David - they are close in terms of price and range, so the big question you need to ask yourself is do you want a car or an SUV? A similar SUV from another manufacturer is considerably more expensive (e.g. £25,000 plus for a Kona) Hope this helps 👍
The 28 kw Ioniq can probably only get to 165 in mixed driving if driven super efficiently. Motorway range is probably average at 120 miles. The 165 miles is probably an average motorway range for the new 38 kw ioniq. Don't forget in mixed driving the MG can get over 200 miles.
I've had an exclusive on order since early July, but my dealer seems to have little idea when it will come possibly March they said. Anyone else know what the deal is or know people who are getting them early? MG head office told me over the phone you only have until new year to receive the additional grant offer? any help appreciated.
I pre-ordered in July and was told Delivery would be late Dec....got a phone call last week from dealer that it will be here next week^^ Update I got another call yesterday to be told my car is at the port but delivery is now first week in Dec :(
Hello, I had a red exclusive on order since July too, my garage closed down, now transferred to another. The wait is officially around 6 months, I’m in the first 1000, your position is in your order ref number. Another MG garage did not know this! The MG garage your with have all orders on their system they should be able to give you a rough indication of when it is due. I admit their tracking systems are not that great. Wishing you all the best, regards Mark
@@markferris6675 hello mark, thanks for you reply thats awful news to hear. And where in the reference does it say your position? My order number doesn't really state it obvious?
The Boxing Talk Podcast Hi - when you placed the order on line on the email that confirmed £500 deposit you got a ref then the nominated garage would have wrote to you with more details - it’s not the vehicle code / customer order no / or order no but it’s in the part that states NEw Ref - ZS00123 / ***/ yr name. This example where I’ve put 123 would mean your order is 123. My number was below 1000 so I’m getting the free charger although they first charged me £250, but now got most of that back and paying £70, as I require an extra unit under stairs. I have ordered it with Tethered cable FYI as MG officially do not give you the 7w cable with the car just the 3 pin plug. I have been mucked about quite a lot for example turned up for test drive one hour away each way and garage was shut! So might be getting my car early Jan now as they were not interested in any compensation. Looking forward to going green hopefully very soon! All the best
@@PlanetautoUK I was told No by the dealer something about type testing wasn't carried out. I have to point out my dealer wasn't totally up to speed on the ZS EV though so it might....I hope!
I have mine on order same colour exclusive..expecting it end of this year beginning of next....a couple of points I dont think all dealers will be giving a free type 2 cable...mine will (Chorley MG) but not all....also are the lights definitely Bi Xenon?...IE one Xenon bulb and the High Beam controlled mechanically by a shutter? (thats what Bi Xenon is) ...or are there 2 bulbs.. Xenon for low beam and halogen for High? (this is not Bi Xenon).
Thank you, the lamps are a difficult one bi projection is are Xenon, halogen or LED however we can’t see anything categorically saying Xenon or halogen on the spec’s, il edit the video to remove Xenon, the cable is interesting thank you
@@PlanetautoUK no probs good review and thumbs up given anyway...yes bi projection can be unclear but Bi Xenon is just the 1 Xenon (HID) bulb that is partially obscurred by a metal flap for low beam...this flap then moves out of the way for full beam (sometimes the bulb itself is physically moved by a motor from high to low....either way it just uses 1 bulb)....its easy to tell as if it's halogen for high beam it has a yellowish tint. I realise you dont have the car now so cant test...I will be doing a comparison when I get mine to my current car whicg is a 2017 Focus ST3 that has Bi Xenon....the lights looked pretty good on the MG on your test whatever they are so as long as they do the job thats OK ...although genuine Bi Xenon do use a bit less power it would prob be just few yards of extra range.on full beam
