Great build.. Few things i saw.. Your mount braket should have a cross support in the triangle .
you need a 220V welder but as this is a walk behind it should be good.. Plasma cutters are awesome as well..
also a strip of steel in front of your rubber cutting edge would strengthen as well...
    excellent build though

Excellent build! Just one bit of advice. If you were to put more of a curve on the blade it would get under the snow and roll it off to the side easier.

Your idea is very good! Maybe you can improve your device, for example, you can place two bags of sand on both sides of the cultivator to make it heavier, then the wheels of the cultivator will not slip. Thank you for this great idea!

  • @ravenfeather7087
    @ravenfeather7087 6 років тому +6

A nice build. I wish I could weld like that and may soon learn how to.
Your device reminded me of a plow my father built many years ago and attached to a Standard Twin tractor. If you're interested there are several videos of Standard Twins on UA-cam. it's a smaller garden tractor with large wheels on the front and on my dad's version smaller wheels on the back.
I've used it for many years to plow snow. However, even though it is much heavier than your tiller it was still difficult to use with heavy or deep snow. Having the blade angled like that pushes the machine to the side quite easily. And with the blade perpendicular to the axis of travel simply not enough traction. Even with chains on the large tires, probably 40 inch tall and weighing in the neighborhood of 150-200 lbs each ( I can barely stand one up vertically from a laying on the ground position. My dad added lead weights to each tire.) and the added weight of the tractor itself it does not have the ability to push a lot of wet heavy or deep snow. Even though there is probably in the neighborhood of, I suspect, at least 500 lbs distributed over the two front tires that drive it. It works though for lighter snowfalls! Well, worked, the motor finally gave up.
I'm guessing that you have found that it's not very effective for anything other than light to moderate dry fluffy snow plowing. You should have contacted me before you built it! I could have cautioned you. But then you wouldn't have had the fun of building and testing it.
    Again, nice build.

Nice work ! Watch your neighbors for when they put gas grills out for garbage - those stainless steel lids are Great for making snow plows for; tillers, and even in front of snow blowers for light snow & slush. (make sure your plow will clear augers - if used accidentally. 😉

Works great for that 1/2" of snow you get twice a year I bet. Sorry, not trying to be mean, this is very creative. It'd be much better on something a little more substantial though like an ATV with snow tires or chains. Cheers from the north east.

Might uses this idea on my snowblower, when the snow is slushy and it clogs up the snowblower.. use the power of the six-speed snowblower to push the heavy slushy snow off the driveway, convert it into a snow plow. Maybe just bolt on a metal snow shovel blade. ❄️🤔

    Cool idea.
    1. Thinking ... hmmmmm wonder if I could do that with my tiller.
    2. Rear Tiller ... I could just remove the tines in the winter.
    3. Would have to find some scrap steel and learn to weld.
    4. Wonder could the drive wheels be slowed down? Or could I find tire chains for grip hmmmmm.
    Wondering ....
Why something like this doesn't exist today. You buy a rototiller and it's used, what at most, twice a hear .. To prep the garden and to end the garden .....
It should have a mower attachment / and this a snow pushing attachment or even blower.

  • @jamesnm21

Come on dude. A modified snowblower would work better. I've modified mine to deal with slush and it's pretty easy. That guy went through all kinds of welding and building that ended up creating a machine that you'd have to store and maintain plus it took him quite a while just to clear a small amount.
