- The Radio Shack 2000629 AM FM LW SW SSB portable radio is found! It was under quite a few others I had put away. Boy am I glad to have rediscovered it. The Medium Wave reception is Great. In this video we explore the Evening Band with the help of the Terk Advantage Passive Loop.

I used to have a Radio Shack DX-400 and it was excellent for SSB and broadcast SW. I got it when the model first came out in the early 80s. In the mid-nineties the LCD crystal display went blank but it was more that just the display going out because no reception either. Although some things worked when switched on. I miss it, great radio and the antenna trim worked fantastic to make any length of antenna as resonant as it possibly could be. Which always made me wonder why it was the only SW radio I ever have known about that had antenna trim. Seriously!!

Interesting, I didn't know this was a rebadged Sangean ATS-505. Any idea why Radio Shack would name this radio the hard-to-remember "2000629"?📻☺ Apart from sounding like some random serial number, I wonder if the blueprints for this receiver was conceived on June the 29th, 2000. 😀

I swear I had this radio in its day. Not RS brand nor was it Sngn..it was a good radio.
as boring as most american radio is because it's either owned by the same few big companies or just airs crackpot stuff, it's still interesting, the variety available. in canada we never had too many AM stations but at the same time you didn't always get good american ones since they didn't always direct up our way. though still, around toronto i could still usually get some out of ohio or new york
Used to get all excited listening to Bill Wattenberg (KGO San Francisco) Art Bell (in the High Desert...) ect. Then along came the Select a Tenna (from C.Crane) which made for more fun, fer sure....🥰. Now I have clear signal from everywhere IN THE WORLD(!) in my phone(!). Sure brought back memories you tuning in those stations!! 👍👍✌️🇨🇦🥰. Thank you!! ♥️♥️
