Christmas Lantern Carving - A Rare Ornament!

In this video, I'll show how to carve an easy Christmas Lantern Ornament. You'll need a 2" by 2" by 4" basswood block and a carving knife. I also show you a free pattern in the video which you can screenshot. I also added an LED tea lamp to complete the lantern ornament.

For the metal bale, you can buy metal rings from the craft store or buy some 16 gauge wire.

I love this idea but I think one of the the dimensions on the pattern appears to be incorrect - the depth of the roof is shown as 1/4" which is half the size of the top part! Am I reading this wrongly??

Thanks for the question! The pattern itself isn't necessarily drawn to scale, however the dimensions are correct as shown. The roof isn't as deep as depicted in the picture. But I tried to get the hole symetrical and the base and portion under the roof are 1/2 inch. The slope of the actual lantern roof is less steep than what I show in the pic. Sorry that it may be a little misleading. Thanks for watching!
