    That tapping thing you see is more than that, it is a quick punch you can see at 2:09 that the receptor shows pain in his face after reiciving it, They are trained to go deep in your body and get back to your guard quickly, i think that's why every one vote -5 on your comment

    She show-boating after a strike just kills this video for me. Some very excellent technique and strategy displayed, but the they need to not seek the point, just the strike.

    i like it,karate is always underestimated,people think only hit-sports are good.
    a full hit can everybody,but a single tap,for tournament and in a dojo,thats more prof.
    taps are useless when you have a conflict outside tournamend or dojo, bu a karate need only 1-2millimetres for a hard strike.
    but never forget to have respect from one with the equal lv as you are in another martial art, i find it important.

    If you are a top shelf point fighter and then go on to full contact you will be better for it. As for the street. pt skills have saved me more times than a cross arm bar and I know them both pretty well.
    Now the pt I am referring to is full bore to the body, legs and controled contact to the face. With gear it is fine. Targeting the groin is an issue of safety. So tapping the knot works.
    Also I used to train with full contact point. wear head gear and bigger boxing gloves.

    well, karate is alot more demanding then judo, from my experiences. the training is more stressfull on your body but it makes you amazingly powerful. i only know judo from a 7 year olds perspective, and karate from 14-15 years old. if you are gunna start karate, you need to find a good dojo, where the teacher actually pays attention to the students, instead of just teaching in broad. judo goes good with karate, so you dont even need to quit.

    Don't remember this too good but its something like this:
    Speed + mass = power
    what that says is that if you can get a kick to the head go a couple of km an hour it will have devastating effects :D

    god i m making this type of competition 6 months ago but still those guys have extreme control of their technics, speed, and strenght, tough speed is much more important then strenght, those guys could easily make you stop breathing if they hit you in the chest with a tsuki...

  • @Junayd78

    Karate points fighting is brilliant for striking and not being hit which is similar to real fighting. Any high level competition fighter who adapts his training for real life scenarios would be a very effective fighter.

    the significance of the controlled blows and stoppage after a scoring technique is that the essence of karate is one hit kill. these 'perfect blows' would render opponents dead, hence the stoppage. the control is due to a way for people to practice the art without dying. it has evolved into a sport and is continuing to evolve. there is a reason wkf karate is going to towards the olympics and ITF taekwondo is pretty much dead in its tracks...

  • @touretul
    @touretul 14 років тому

    @GameOf2Halves As I said, the techniques are there. They are not teached to avoid regretable accidents. My sensei is pointing them out telling us that they are prohibited to be used in kumite. But they are there. There is nukite uchi on the throat, shutou uchi on the neck, Heian Godan has a testicles wrest technique (I don't comment about how efficient is that), and Basai Dai a gedan yoko geri on the knee from the inside. There is also gedan mawashi geri on the knee from the outside.

  • @AleksTomi
    @AleksTomi 14 років тому

    I do kumite my self and i know it is indeed almost just a competition fighting style now, but i know that because of my kumite training i know allot of smart tricks to phsyce your opponent out and the training has made me thougter, faster and stronger... i can take more punches- i can punch/kick harder/faster......

    JKA still has victory for first at 6 pts, one point for basic technique and two for advanced. WKF you need an 8 point lead and can score one point for basic (gyaku), two for intermediate (nihon) and three for advanced (sanbon - kick to the head or sweep and score)

    i highly doubt u can say would easily win..i train sport karate n have had a kyukoshin club come n train with us before..i have much respect for their style as they withstand a lot of damage n lots of power in their strikes..but just sparring with them showed me that they had no speed. I could move in n hit them n bounce rite out..n truthfully how many solid hits to the face can a person take until he is finally out

    K for starters people who say this isn't a real sport, either A. have never tried it or B. are too stuck up to try it. MMA isn't even like real life there are a ton of rules that arent in the street so you can knock this all you want but you can't say MMA is any more of a sport and I'm a lover of MMA. It's just a different sport this is about speed, accuracy, agility, and timing. so don't compare when they dont have the same purpose

    yeah, I know about one hit, certain death but really its exaggerated. all you really need to do is look at full contact martial arts to see that. you would be surprised how hard a blow and how many the human body can take. one hit rarely ends fights. plus its important to know how to fight AFTER you get hit and also how to throw combinations. the thing I like about these rules is that it puts a really high importance on defense. it demands defense, speed, accuracy,and smarts over brute strength

    Your information is fundamentally correct. Karate, in it's various forms, started in this fashion. The "original styles" all lay claim either partially or entirely to this lineage - depending on the discipline.
    However, your thoughts about the "one punch kill" may be off. The idea was to hit your opponent hard enough that you would either incapacitate or stun him. If he falls on the battlefield, he's either neutralized or easy pickings. So maximize your shot & make it count!

    Excellent comment--I think it was introduced a few olympic games ago when the host country was good at Taekwondo?
    I love karate competitions for about 10 % of teh fights--the majority of fights are deceided on the quickest reverse punch;pretty boring.

    Not weak. It's precision attacks. And it isnt taps either..
    Fully focused to pin point accuracy.
    Research before you judge .. or better yet. Test it.
    I've been training in Shito-ryu karate for 14 years (15 in nov) and i have never 'tapped' people .. I hit hard.

    if you look the kick/punch is about a cm away from the face and seeps and takedowns leave people helpless on the floor, im sure one punch as powerful as they do it would knock them out easily i went to an amatuer competition a few years back and 4 people were taken out on strechers in one day, try and pick a fight with one of these and im sure you would end up bent..

    This vid is about "traditionnal karate" not "Karate contact".
    The difference is that in traditionnal, you're not allowed to impact, wound or KO your opponent. These are "Shikoku"; forbiden technics that can disqualify you.
    I went to 2009 championships of KOFUKAN and SHOKUKAI in Osaka and Kobe, but didn't participate. And even though it's traditonnal karate, there have been some broken noses, broken ribs, brown eyes and a few KOs... so no, karate isn't just quickness

    @Sabre809 Yes, it's called "kiai" (kee - AYE). The word can be broken up into "ki" (inner force/power/strength) and "ai" (projection). When you kiai, you shout out "Ai", "Ah", or something similar. It serves two purposes: 1) It's the physical and forceful manifestation of your fighting spirit. 2) It forces you to exhale on the strike, the same way you exhale on the power stroke in weightlifting.

  • @DexterHaven
    @DexterHaven 12 років тому

    @zamba1011 Yes, you develop the habit of pulling punches and not punching through a target. Also, point fighting is messy and dangerous. I fought in tournaments in California in the '80s when it was popular. I broke my thumb in one fight, hurt my ankle on a kick block badly, and saw a guy duck into a reverse punch to the body, so it hit his face and broke his orbital bone. I got my nose slashed by a thumbnail in another fight. Lots of little injuries happen. It's wild. So keep fighting too long.

    I've been fighting with brown/black belts when I was a orange belt because of my age.

    My kids, from a Kyokushin background, recently fought in a WKF rules competition, in terms of point scoring they lost, but in terms of the karate they displayed I was suitably happy, In hindsight we shouldn't have entered the competition but hey it was a learning experience for them which they enjoyed. I certainly wouldn't diss the sport just because it is different, same as WKF people shouldn't diss Kyokushin. Check out the video I uploaded and you can see just how different both styles are

    Here you must show respect to the person you are training with, and learn from their attacking style, you must discover your weakness to get stronger, karate must clear your mind while practicing to make a real fight something quick and definitive
    So we train to make damage
    A true black belt kills you without trying to fight just get to the point
    KILLS YOU not just a knockout

    martial arts are both for fighting and for self defense
    i know this doesnt look like mma or street fighting
    but karate uses simpliest and effective moves , it is focuses on taking down opponents in one hit
    traditional KARATE is banned from the olympic games because unlike teakwondo it doesnt use any headgear,mitts,gloves orbody armor
    so the JKA created rules which allows players to wear these safety gears to avoid injury
