Randy was one of a kind, others may play like him but no one will ever sound like him or have his creativity. Rest in peace man with the platinum fingers.
He wouldn’t have been the musician he is an was if he didn’t imitate. All the greats did the same thing. I just loved how he incorporated the classical sound into hard rock and metal! I liked it cuz everybody else put way to much blues into it. Not that I don’t mind it but it ran its course. I had heard he wanted to quit Ozzy and didn’t styles like reggae an stuff. It would be great if he was still alive and to be able to hear what other magic he would’ve brought to music! PEACE!
Mind you this was around the time cd's were introduced, but older material wasn't available yet, I found this on vinyl shortly after Randy's passing. The record store didn't know it was a collector, and had it for an insanely low price. I must've had a shit eatin' grin on my face, because when I got to the counter the guy asked if it was one of the collector albums & I confirmed, he looked at the price & said, "well it's already marked, so I've got to sell it to you for that price." Still have it. 😁
Finally figured this one out. So many key changes haha, god damn Randy. This was most likely an element of what Rudy was talking about Randy's "modal mixtures" through interviews. And just his good knowledge of music theory in general.

Cool story. Sorry you didn’t get to bang that hot Asian chick. I didn’t know about this song until the other release on metal health. Cool you got to hear them several years earlier.
Amazing that the producers, record execs, etc. didn't see what a fucking brilliant guitarist Randy was. So many people missed it...except Dana Strum and Ozzy. Ozzy saw exactly what Randy was: a rocket ready to take off. Also, like Tom Zatuat said, you don't need ears to be a talent scout, you need eyes. The fact that the QR shows were always packed should have gotten them signed just for that.
Most of their first two albums lacked direction. However, the songs that rocked, rocked good. And this is one of them. This, and Killer girls. Also, Laughing Gas. Randy's technique was ahead of quite a number of guitarists in highly professional bands. An all-time great, for sure.
Randy like JFK were made legendary in their deaths. Randy was fantastic but some people think he had super powers. He got taken by Ozzy and his Yoko Ono. The first of many.
I'd be more comfortable with them in the Lady Bruins volleyball locker. But anyhow. Randy is the king of guitar effects without much effects pedals and medium gain.

It's an apples-and-oranges comparison. There were two incarnations of Quiet Riot: this incarnation was influenced more by '70s glam rock. The later incarnation was influenced by the rise of hair metal that arose from the wake of Van Halen. That incarnation is reflected in the harder sound of that version of SBC.
Quiet Riot was the Sunset Strip band that broke out first. I was already into British metal but this helped pull heavy metal up from the underground, for better or worse.
Actually, Rudy played on "Slick Black Cadillac", "Thunderbird" and a few others on Metal Health, so that statement isn't accurate. Chuck Wright did play on the song "Metal Health" and "Cum on Feel the Noize", plus a couple others.
