Who cares how douchy he is? We go to their concerts to hear them shred guitar, not talk shit. When you're a guitar god, you pretty much have the authority to be as douchy as you want.
After 10 years of having this video shows, only 1 person down-voted it. I'm guessing someone clicked the wrong icon by mistake, maybe during a drunken night.
"Dee", "Crazy Train", "Goodbye To Romance" all in one song. Next time anyone says it was Ozzy that made Ozzy, listen to this and realize how much influence Randy had on Ozzy's first two albums.
Many parts of this are familiar to what Randy would use with Ozzy, both in songs as well as his now famous, “spotlight solo.” As a guitarist, and those of you who also play, you can relate to how you come up with little things, licks and such that you like but have yet to place them within a song or as part of a solo. This stuff can stay with you months and years and even then, you can’t come up with a way to use it. That’s what you’re hearing here. It’s like Randy’s ‘scrapbook’ of riffs, song ideas and general guitar solos. What a great view into him and his process. RIP, RANDY RHOADS. MUCH too soon. Glad I saw him with Ozzy in Alpine Valley.
I wish I could have put it into words as well as you did. I'm 46 and remember ideas that came into my head when I was in my late teens and early 20's that I knew were interesting, and still do, but have never been able to implement into my playing since. You mentioned Alpine Valley. Is that the Alpine Valley in East Troy Wisconsin... I've been there many times. I saw Pearl Jam, Sound Garden, Chili Peppers, Alice in Chains, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Bon Jovi, Skid Row and others I can't remember. I was supposed to be at Stevie Ray Vaughan's last performance but was sick and couldn't go. I'd like to talk to you about your experience seeing Randy live.
The world lost out on greatness when we lost Randy. I always think to myself how much more Epic Music Randy would have shared with us had he not passed so young. RIP
Everyone including Eddie always say he took his techniques from EVH. Randy was doing this stuff a year before Van Halen came out with their first album
IDK if he took techniques fromm EVH or not (nothing wrong with that to be honest... everyone takes from others) but eddie and randy (george lynch too) were doing the same clubs in those years 76-78 before either of them went big.
@fartbrother Listen again...that whole section from about 7:15 til right about 8:00 is "Dee"...I very well could be wrong, but that's what it sounds like to my ears. Regardless, Randy was (is) awesome, and a HUGE influence on my playing. R.I.P Randy...

People always argued me down when I said that I thought Randy was better than Eddie.Randy just seemed to be more in control, polished and accomplished than Eddie. Having said that Eddie was more influential than any guitarist to date.Eddie inspired millions to pick up a guitar. In fact, he(Eddie), was the reason I started playing guitar.

But Tony Iommi created a whole new genre of music where countless like RR and EVH were able to shine. But the same can be said of Black Sabbath. Without the Beatles they may not exist. Then we get into the argument of "Who made Who". Noticed before Ozzy, Randy was just playing in the shadows of EVH. But then he just emerges as a guitar wiz and no one can argue he was phenomenal.

What heathen dares to dislike the shiny golden god that is Randy Rhoads!?
i know seriously....give me RANDY anyday of the week over EDDIE DOUCHEHALEN.
gideons .mob No need to knock on eddie. Yeah, RR is the best ever, but EVH doesn't deserve hate.
+Jack Regz he is kinda a douche lord tho

“Mental wounds not healing, who and what’s to blame? I’m going off the rails on the crazy train.” - Bob Daisley
Yep. Randy and Bob Daisley wrote those first two records. Ozzy had input obviously, but it was majority Randy and Bob.

Great Guitar sounds for 1977. No one else was playing like that at the time. But I can hear some Jimmy Page (Heartbreaker) influence in that solo.
I hear a lot of Communication Breakdown in this tune but it's still a great riff and Randy's tone was insane.
And Brian May (Brighton Rock)
A guitar GOD! Truly, one of the best to ever-EVER live! God Bless RR!
RIP Kevin & Randy, gone way to soon...

Crazy train beat at 8:25
It was still “kicking”
On the guitar, this is Randy Rhoads!
The classical elements of the solo reminds me of the head cutting scene in Crossroads.
Dee and laughing gas are my favorite Randy songs
Almost 10 years later and this video only has ONE dislike. What does that tell you?
That it isn't getting enough attention
That one person was super drunk and missed the 'like' button.
The person who disliked it can't play like Randy Rhoads lol
RR forever RIP
I hear some of randy rhoads "RR" that is later on ozzy's blizzard of oz album as an outtake.
6:15 man thats pure metal

such a good song
HOLY SHIT, THAT IS DEE!!!
Kevin D. did a remix master recording on the Randy Rhoads Years album
Really good.
so legendary
You can tell he limited himself in the Quiot Riot years when it came to riffs. But damn those solos are good.
Why is this not on Spotify 😭😭🤘
I like how this version is the same as one of the live yt versions (1of..2?)

The beginning sounds like communication breakdown from LED Zeppelin and yes I know Zeppelin took that song from another artist.
Actually I was wrong communication breakdown was one of the only songs from the first album they didn't plagiarized. My mistake.

@JasVincent1968 nice ad
is it just me or does Randy seem to be a little inspired by Brian May with his solo
You're right. Especially the part where the solo begins, kind of sounds like "Brighton Rock."
He uses delay in the beginning of the solo

He must have still been a kid when this was recorded?

Was Randy using the big Peavy head on this?
I would assume so. Kevin said he didn't achieve the sound he wanted until he played on Ozzys Marshall's.
