Mike Stern is the most positive man I've ever met. His lovely mood always makes me happy. One of the most amazing musicians I know of.
Do you guys know what kind of Amps does he play?
@@alainrosso568 he's said usually fender tweens. Cause they are easy to find and rent. He plays into 2 of them at the same time. there's a vid with a rig rundown in youtube. IT's great he talks about a lot of other stuff too.
Although that is not the case here..
He's one of the nicest cats and baddest.
He is in higher of conscience
Richie Morales - drums
Tom Kennedy - bass
Bob Franceschini - sax
Tanks
Thank you groove4dayz , this is exactly what I (and countless other people) were looking for. *You made my day dude !!!*
I was about to ask if anyone knew who the bass player was. Holy crap...he friggen blew my mind. And this is in a band of monsters. Wow.
YES THANK YOU
Drummer Sax bass tight
Can we take a second to appreciate how godly Tom Kennedy is? The guy makes it look so easy
He made me raise my head for first time in Dave Weckl's band Synergy album (btw. great album). I'm still surprised he's not universally acclaimed.
Scary good
The 55 was my hang, no cover, just a 3 drink minimum. Wayne Krantz, Lincoln Goines, Dennis Chambers, Danny Gottlieb, Alain Caron, Tom Kennedy.
Whomever, whatever night , always a first class ticket to the stratosphere!
And yes ! Tom Kennedy is godly here!
I still can't understand how the guys could keep a straight face during his first solo. I'd be laughing my ass off, its soo good.
Yes
The Bass player is a beast wow! I'm late to the party but Mike Stern the man great band great great band.
Tom Kennedy! He’s a legend.
Mike seems to be the happiest guy in the world, he is always smiling. i love this guy
His bassman is amaizing...I never heard better sound of jazz bass than like this...every in point...perfect
Tom Kennedy is the name. Quite an unsung hero, the man can play anything. And with a smile. Check him out on Dave Weckl's albums and Planet X early material.
@@evanjazzista Bill Connors solo albums with Weckle or Kim Plainfield
High octane improvisation delivered the way I like it. I love this!
That bassist is outstanding. Perfect dynamics.
Right ✅️
mike is such a sweetheart.
All I can say is wow, Mike is such an inspiration as are all these fantastic players in their own right. As a bassist I am just awed by Tom Kennedy. I met Mike Stern long ago at a concert he was doing in Ann Arbor. My friend and I arrived early for the beat seats and Mike opened the door into me by accident and he could not have been nicer about it. He visited with us for quite awhile even though he was trying to source an amp for the show, he didn’t have to take the time to talk with us but he did and was very gracious and in no rush about getting back to his more pressing matters. This really illustrated to me what kind of person he is as well as being an icon. Same can be said of John Scofield, who I met once at the same venue as I was walking out the door and he invited me to meet and hang out with his group after I attended both shows. Both true gentlemen and pillars of the idiom! Love this live performance and the recording quality. Go Mike go! Your music is timeless!
At the Blue Llama?
Wow! Man, what a band. What a spirit Mike has! Seems like the coolest guy on the planet as well as being a master musician/composer and a monster player. So amazing!!!!
Pat Travers brother
Es la primera vez que escucho a estos maravillosos músicos. Ha sido un verdadero agasajo escucharles. Felicidades 👍🏿🇲🇽
Mike and his band are really great!!!
Great. Stern's guitar playing (sound, chords and solo) is brilliant.
Tom Kennedy - Respect, totally killer bass!!! ❤️

So much awesomeness. Just wonderful playing by everyone.
Great guy and a killer guitarist as well! What a treat, thank you so much.
I could not stop watching! Sounds so Great!
I've seen Mike Stern twice, both times at the 55 Bar. I saw him once before he had his accident, and again this past Wednesday (2/12/20). If you haven't been to the 55, it's a small, intimate place. If you're lucky enough to get a table in the front, assertive players will have no issue playing right in your face. Stern is such a player, and I had the pleasure of observing his technique from about a foot away. It's amazing to see how he's bounced back from this accident: there were certainly a few passages where he was choppy, but overwhelmingly he sounded as good as he did before 2016. I'm particularly inspired by this as I've long feared carpal tunnel; I type a lot at my day job, but I've been playing for 28 years and wouldn't know what to do if I couldn't. So to see Stern DEALING with this and doing so with grace, humor, and determination: it's incredible. It also shows his fortitude: as has been well publicized, Stern is an alcoholic. Think about how tempting it would be for the average person to say "Well, I've had a great career, so why try given this? I'm just gonna drown myself in booze until the end." This is my guess, but it would seem logical that given his alcoholism and now with this injury, Stern is fighting inner and outer demons all the time. And he wins. And we're better for it.
I was at 55 bar 1989......Mike was playing there. it was great evening, jazz standard like "autumn leaves" 20 minutes version.....burning solos!
Paavo Majaluoma Do you remember who was in the band with him and/or what tunes he played?
@@spb7883 hmm.... i think Harvie Swartz on bass Brian Melvin on drums. 1989 at 55 they played standards like: autumn leaves, softly as a morning sunrise, all the thing you are, there will be another you, e.t.c. not many songs , because every song was at least 20min long....Mike's solos was incredible creative!
@@hghghghghgh751 Very cool. Harvie S always works with incredible guitarists. "In a Different Light" was a big album for me. Harvie also played a lot with Rick Stone, who I was fortunate to study with.
@@spb7883 I have Harvie's album "urban earth" Mike on guitar....great playing..
The best fusion guitar player ever
I like Mikes playing a lot. I’m not an advocate of saying anyone is best at anything though. I appreciate your spirit.
Have you heard Bill Connors’ 3 albums from the 80’s? Pretty great playing.
Didnt think Bob would be able to match Mike at first. Man was I happily surprised. Stayed right there and added more. Thanks
What the hell!? These guys just exploded my brain meat. Handnt heard of mike and the guys until now.... This bass is on fire. .damn!
Señor tu eres grande padre Celestial me libraste de ese accidente y salí si rasguñó mi Alma te alaba Jesucristo

I listened to a Mike Stern concert many many years ago in Poggibonsi (Italy), how fun it was. His style can't be confused with anyone else. 👍
I have some hand problems now and you're my inspiration to keep playing, Mike Stern! Thank you 🙂

Merci Mike
Moins precis?

WOW! HOLY SHIT- WOW! WOW! WOW!
Gr8t Playing !
Mike Stern. Grande músico e exemplo de superação.
The bass player (Tom Kennedy) makes this band. Listen and learn.
monster bass...wow...wow...and amazing mike, not one of those berklee grads that stopped playing music bcs of their jobs or g/f and wives, cat brakes hands, barely holding pick and sill kicks da ass...love and respect to all born to be...real cats
Technique is just a resource, Mike shows that is not necessary to abuse of it to create beautiful music.
I play metal and Mike is one my biggest influences.
Awesome👍
Really like Mike
awesome band
very nice!!!!!!
Simply amazing guitar. No wonder Miles picked up on him in the early 80s. Listen to his solo on "The Man With The Horn" album, can't remember what song. Not only Mike, but some great musicians here.
I love his tone
OMG, whatta band!!

🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great
How many guitars do you need?
World: I don't know... I need so many different sounds for my record and my taste.
Mike Stern: One please.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This dude (M.S.) is a musical charm on two legs. Can't stop listening to his one of a kind guitar sound and that one and only way of phrasing. I would be a *complete moron* if I wouldn't take deep bow addressed to the rest of the band. There must be a good reason why Mike often asks these people (Richie Morales (dr), Tom Kennedy (b), and that Italian Mafia insert (just kidding Lol...) Bob Franceschini (Ts), to play in his various formations. My deep bow and appreciation for making my life so reach and so enjoyable goes to all of these cats, and many others (The list would be too long to mention all of them but, I can't resist mentioning one name, and that is Michael Brecker, the man whose life and music helped me to become who I am today...
Well said
