The reason your dark floss is pulling lighter purple is your linen has so much yellow in it. Yellow and purple are complimentary colors. Try a linen with less yellow/gold (cool toned neutral), and I think you’ll get the look you’re looking for. 💜
You are such an absolute joy to watch! Listening to you talk about Tina and her dog… and I started to cry until I chuckled at you holding your iPad with your face. All spectrums of emotions in those few minutes watching you. You put so much of yourself in each video. Love watching your videos!!!
I hope all went well with your surgery, Stacy. Seeing your wips, I'm reminded of all of mine, patiently waiting to get finished, lol. They're all so much fun to do! Looking forward to your next videos and I'm praying for a speedy recovery for you!
It's great to see you back, I was beginning to wonder where you'd gone 😅 As ever, great video with beautiful stitching and I love the way you share everything, all the details that so many flosstubes leave out. Good luck for your upcoming surgery and hope you have an amazing holiday!😊
I was going to say change the floss color so you'll love it but I think Lisa Curry's advice is well worth pursuing. Just recently I've been doing a SAL on a really pretty blue fabric and I mostly love it but the purples look brown to me. These are floss colors I've used before and love. I was just coming to the conclusion that it has to be the fabric so I was really pleased to see Lisa's comment. I love how the cross stitch community is such a help to each other!
Hi Stacy, it’s nice catching up with your video. All the stitching is wonderful and I wish you very good luck with the surgery and hope that you are recovering well and able to stitch because of course that’s what keeps us sane… happy stitching cheers
You almost made me cry about Max and Tina. Such a tragic story and what a heartfelt tribute to them. I LOVE everything you stitch. Your channel is one of my very favorite. God Speed on your next surgery❣
Good luck with surgery today! I’m impressed you can stitch one-handed. I was also so thrilled to see my LNS shouted out on your channel. I hope you come to the retreat! I’ve never been to a retreat before and am planning on going to this one. :)
If you are not happy with the plum color floss on your project. Restart with a color that pleases you even if it is just black. It's too big a piece not be to in love with it!
Thank you for the nice video. I hope your surgery will go well and I wish you a good recovery. I would start the Vierlande again in a color that you think is fantastic. This project is too beautiful and big to do if you don't love it completely.
Your Joan Elliot Nativity is beautiful. Lots of stitching. I would ditch the plum amd get something dark you like. You are going to be stitching it a loooong time. I have stitched several Maria Bravko designs. They turned out so cute and were fun to stitch. I enjoy the Eastern European designers style with blends, half stitches, and backstitch.
So happy to see you back! Have you considered overdying your plum color floss with some Charcoal Rit to deepen the color? It would certainly be a lot more cost effective than replacing what you already have. I've been doing just that for a couple of years starting with DMC and then adding shading to make it variegated. Start with only one skein, thoroughly wet the floss, and then add diluted dye using an eye dropper. I squeeze and blot out the excess water and dry it in the microwave starting at one minute. If you like the result, then repeat the process with the remaining floss. The worst that could happen would be to get it too dark, but then you do like black, and you're already considering buying a different color. edit to add: I'd start with about 1/2 tsp dye per cup of warm water. You can always add more. You won't be able to tell the resulting color until it's dry, so that's why I use the microwave to dry it quickly.
I love the lady Liberty. Can’t wait to see it as a drum. Beautiful. Also the trick or treat stitch on that fabric. Always a fun time visiting with you.
I too am working on the 1816 Vierlande Sampler. About 2/3 done on 36 ct. I found an oak antique frame & thus the 36 ct fabric using DMC 3371. Look closely at the pattern. There are small birds & peacocks throughout this design. Once I realized this I started to stitch the birds in another color, DMC 3768 (blue). I love this design so much. I would suggest you change the color of your thread now. If you're not happy you won't be happy later & may give up. Hope the surgery goes well too.
Awesome video. My daughter has German Shepard’s also. Luca 1 year and Arlo 6 years old. They r both big babies. Ur grandmother surely don’t look her age. Hope I live to b that old. Good luck with ur surgery and hope u have a speedy recovery. My prayers go out to u. I really enjoyed seeing all ur WIPS!!!! Happy stitching 🪡❤️
Lovely stitching as always, and thanks for sharing your trip to The Attic! For the Vierlander sampler, I think that once you have more of the pattern complete that the overall effect will look dark, but if you aren't happy with it, make a change! You will invest many hours into the piece, as well as then framing costs and having it on your wall for years, so adjust it so you love it. Wishing you safe travels to NY, and all the best for your upcoming surgery!
Hi Hun. Love seeing all yr beautiful stitching, haul and new charts coming out. I'm always enabled. What a lovely idea of yr new to be start of the lady and her dog. Take care hun. Xxx
Hi Stacy! I'm always behind on watching. The lighting is perfect! But it doesn't matter where you have your video. I'll always watch! Love Christmas In Blue. I'd separate each design as well. Aimee Stewart designs are so pretty. Sunflower Farms is pretty. I like the yellow! I'm stitching Black Vintage Sampler. You are further than me. Love it. Mary Poppins is my favorite. I even have earrings. Your projects are always so pretty. So so sad about Max and Tina. A beautiful tribute to them that you will be stitching ♡ Keep their photo near you when you stitch this piece. That is your link to them ♡ The Glass Slipper is gorgeous. Thank you, Stacy 🌷
Great video. I stitched Nessie Mitchell 1929, but used by Great-Grandmother's name and date of birth. I restart when I don't like the color. No matter what you will never be satisfied with the outcome.
So great to see your videos! You have the most amazing energy and attitude; it lifts me up every time I see you. Best wishes for a successful surgery and a quick recovery! Happy stitching!
Goodness I just love love all of your stitching Stacey and I can not believe the kit you found , it will be a beautiful tribute for such a sad loss 😓 I do remember that happening and I was horrified myself. You know I would not invest my time stitching with thread I don’t care for , I think you would be happier with maybe a coal thread or dark brown blackish? Again everything you do is lovely and oh my those project bags are beautiful too! Blessings and prayers for you in your surgery❤
Wishing you a successful surgery with a speedy recovery! It’s so fun to see your crochet projects. I’d change my color on the Vierlander or you won’t finish it. I’m not sure what color Katie Strachan used on hers, but it was a really dark floss so check hers out. Maybe you need those Vicky Clayton silks on it?
It is so good to see you! Your stitching is amazing. You are very encouraging. How do you manage with all the surgery you have had. I know my self. I have had multiple surgeries on my back and more. I have chronic pain for 20 years. I get very down some days especially the past couple of years but cross stitch is my life saver! I am so happy I have that. I have to many projects but that is okay because it keeps my mind going. God bless Mary Popins is beautiful. Luv Sue
Hi Stacey , on your new Quaker with the plush plum colorway. On the camera those two you showed look different. Maybe dye lots. So it might be that. It looks beautiful and I may have to stitch a Quaker chart with that thread and maybe fabric. ❤ take care
In regards to your new beast of a sampler lol, I would decide if you like the fabric or the floss more. I'd try the plum floss on a lighter fabric with less brown, both one strand and two strands. Maybe the fabric you chose is pulling the thread color in a way that makes you see those lighter colors you don't want. Or perhaps more contrast between fabric and floss, or different tone fabric will help. Good luck, it looks massive!
Welcome back Stacy. I’ve been missing your video. Love your kitchen area. Good luck with your upcoming surgery. I’m working on Watermelon Tourmaline - you are much farther - I’m inspired to catch up to you. 🍉
Thank you for such an inspiring video. The reason for stitching the girl with the dog is very inspiring. Your black projects are beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
So happy to see your video pop up. Your projects are beautiful and really coming along. Hope all goes well with surgery. You are always so inspiring. Looking forward to a wip parade. Happy stitching.
Thank you for sharing, your projects are beautiful and an inspiration! For the Vierlander sampler, everything you’ve picked out is beautiful! If something seems off to you it’s good to pause and re evaluate. It all is beautiful! I look at it as similar to picking paint colors for the walls of the house. The lighting in your home and surroundings is different than in the store which changes how they all go together. What you’ve chosen is beautiful, most important is to recognize that it’s not the look you were wanting and to make changes in the threads or fabric now.
Happy Birthday to your Grandma! Such a wonderful video. I love all your projects. Good luck on your surgery and prayers for a speedy recovery. I have a question regarding stitching with variegated floss on your Mary Poppins stitch. How do you take your floss from the skein to keep the variegated look? Thanks for sharing all the information.
Change the floss color on that huge project before you get too far into it or you’ll be so mad later. Also prayers for your surgery on the 11th for a great outcome and quick recovery.
I was at the Attic in May the third week. Wow I was amazed at their store, it was a little overwhelming with soooo much to see. The ladies were all very helpful and helped me with color choices and linen. I also got a couple of charts that were done locally, I think she said there were 5 local cross stitch designers. I wanted to be able to get a chart, floss, and linen to remind me of our trip to Phoenix. I was actually born in Phoenix but had not been back in 40 years!
Pick a thread that you love on that huge piece. I just finished Ann Grimshaw with black sulky. Also on such a large piece, consider if you might want to wash it when finished -- may want to choose a thread that is colorfast.
I think that because of the size of your massive sampler you might want to change colors now or change fabric. That plush plum might look really dark on a pale fabric but on yours it really does look brown. Thank you so very much for sharing the pictures of the Attic along with your beautiful music. I think I had better never visit there unless I win the lottery. 😆 Actually I'd love to go just to feel that wonderful ambiance and share in the joy with other stitchers. Good luck with your surgery.
Good to see you! With regards to Plush Plum--> to me, the two skeins you held up looked two different colors/shades. One was much darker than the other. You said you have eight skeins --> if it were me, I would crack into at least four of those skeins, mixing some that are lighter and some that are darker, and I would vary my threads when I need a new one. Or, use the darker colors for the letters on the sampler and then mix the other shades amongst the motifs. It will be beautiful! Thanks for the virtual tour!
Trusting you will have a speedy recovery after your surgery. A super video as always. Love the HAED of the Vintage knitting and crocheting, wow, what a beautiful (and different) design. Excited to see your progress. Added it to my 'wish list'!! The crochet baby blanket is very pretty! Take care of yourself.
You do beautiful work on a such a variety of projects...each one more lovely than the one before. You will be in my prayers for a successful surgery with ease through your recovery. Please take care of yourself.
Your stitching is gorgeous. I agree that you should change that huge sampler to a beautiful black like your other samplers. It's so much work and you'd be disappointed if you did it in the lighter purple. I have the puzzle that matches the knitting cross stitch you are doing! Good luck with your surgery, and thanks for showing the Attic video.
Go Yankees! I was born in the bronx, but my kids are from CA so my family are Angels fan boo! Hope you have a great trip in NY and recuperate fast from your surgery.
I agree with the other comments if your struggling with it now you won’t want to finish it. Maybe the dark purple will look good on a Halloween piece. I’ll be watching for the retreat info.
The nativity is so pretty! The baby blanket is adorable! I’m wondering if you went with a lighter fabric for the big Quaker. I wonder if the floss would look dark on a lighter fabric. Maybe you could do a test. But it is beautiful as it is, just depends if you like it or not .
You should definitely Stitch the Vierlande with floss that you love. It’s a massive sampler and you should enjoy every stitch. I just started it myself last week!! Good luck with the arm surgery ❤️
Beautiful progress on your projects. Love the sampler patterns you purchased. I always get so inspired when I watch your videos. Thank you for sharing so much! I pray that your surgery is successful and that you heal quickly and completely. ❤
Lovely to see you again, Stacey. Great stitching, as always. Your Vierlander sampler is going to be wonderful, what a huge project! You are unsure about your thread choice - isn’t that a bit like a marriage proposal - if you’re not sure, the answer should be “No”? I thought , from how it showed on the screen it would be lovely, but YOU have to love it, and I suspect you’re not in love with the colour.
Hello friend Great to see you. Seems like you are keeping busy and still you find time for amazing projects. I hope you have fun traveling. There will be a letter from me soon. Hugs
Without a doubt…..keep the Plush Plum for another project and find a black that you love! If you stick with the purple you will never finish the project. I completed one of the smaller versions of this pattern. It is so much fun….as long as you love your thread 👍🏼
Best wishes for your surgery, and a speedy recovery. I have an opinion on your Vierlande project. Save the thread and mix strands from several skeins. Change the linen to something a little bit lighter. The dirty teacup would be lovely. I think your thread will look darker with more contrast between the linen and thread. Good luck!
I love your projects. Yes, take out the stitches on other project and go with the stark black. I love your kitchen. I used to have one just like it before we moved. Cabinets were oak instead of black and our appliances were an almond color. I loved the kitchen. Island area as well. Same shape different colors in the kitchen. I love your UTube channel.
Great flosstube. Change your thread on that new project. We can tell it’s not ‘satisfying’ to you. You were much more excited about your Sulky Black in the other project. So many new projects, and big ones!! Thank you for sharing.
Your grandmother still looks young! Good luck with your surgery ❤. BTW. On the Vierlande sampler I think the plum you have looks fine. Right now it looks lighter to you, but once it’s all stitched in, it will be so busy (I printed this chart) I don’t think you’ll really notice it. The other option is to do it in the 3777? dark brown the chart calls for, which will look great also. If you stop to think about it, you’re probably not going to hang it in a bright sunny room where it could fade. You’ll probably hang it somewhere a bit darker to protect it and therefore the plum will look darker 😊
That plum floss is gorgeous! I think the problem is that your fabric is too dark. You talk about the pieces with black floss and how the design pops, but look at the color of the fabric compared to the one you chose for the plum floss.
It's the fabric that is throwing it off. I'd change the fabric or save that floss for something else!!! Wow 56-ct, dirty teacup, very pretty. The Mushroom is too cool. You could Mirror Image that Riolis kit too. The Sampler by Needlemade Designs would look great on that fabric!!! Nice Haul from The Attic.
First of all, Best Wishes for a very successful surgery and recovery. Your grandmother is amazing! She’s beautiful and young looking. Who is the lovely lady sitting next to her? (Very much look alikes). Thank you for sharing your time and talents with us.
That sampler floss color is crazy! I don’t think you’ll be happy with it… it does look brownish/plum. I think the black will give you what you want from the design (from what you described.) If you are questioning now… I’d switch. Really enjoyed the update! Sending prayers for your upcoming surgery. Thank you 😊
If you’re not in love with that floss, every stitch will be a chore. And you’ll likely never finish the sampler. Cut your losses now….use a floss you love!
I love love your videos. I want to go to the retreat in Dillard. I live in Dahlonega Georgia so it's not too far from me. I want to meet you so bad. I hope you will be able to come to that retreat. Your fabric choices are so perfect. I'm afraid to branch out and just get some different colors. I agree with you, I think that purple is too light and you are not going to be happy with it. Praying for success with your surgery. Bless your heart you have had so many surgeries. Love ya
Regarding the Vierlander sampler, the floss is beautiful and the fabric is too. However, the floss will change color on different fabrics, right? (Isn't that why we often do floss tosses?) If in doubt, stitch a little on a different fabric and see how the color changes. But, if you aren't happy, you aren't going to like it.
Another lovely video filled with eye candy! Thank you for all you share Stacey! I have everything to start the Vierlande sampler(sp?) I may have to pull it out but probably next year. Trying to finish some wips I love but have been put aside for all the new things. Take care and dare I say “Lets go Dodgers” from one So. Cal girl to another…teehee
It does look brown to me. Maybe try a lighter more white or cream fabric with 2 threads. I prefer stitching with 2 threads because the coverage is more solid. I definitely think 2 threads will darken the piece to more of what you are looking for. Just my thoughts....:)
enjoying your channel for the first time. Here's a thought about your 1816 sampler - are you more attached to the black/plum thread or to the golden mottled linen? I believe because of the positions of these two colors on the color wheel, the fabric is leaching the black out of the color of the thread, so to speak. Colors opposite each other on the color wheel look brighter when next to each other. Brighter, in the case of your dark purple means lighter, perhaps. A shade of fabric that moves closer and closer to purple on the color wheel would darken the color of the floss. A blue/black or even better a green/black could really look nice. Or just black. I think. LOL. xoxo.
The reason your dark floss is pulling lighter purple is your linen has so much yellow in it. Yellow and purple are complimentary colors. Try a linen with less yellow/gold (cool toned neutral), and I think you’ll get the look you’re looking for. 💜

Gorgeous bags ! ❤
Ugggggh, you got me again! Etsy is very happy when you post a new video! Glad you are doing well. Best prayers for your up coming surgery!
Have a good and successful arm surgery with a fine recovery. Thank you for sharing the stories you d8d and all of the stitching too.
How cute the snowman
Go Yankees! I was born in the bronx, but my kids are from CA so my family are Angels fan boo! Hope you have a great trip in NY and recuperate fast from your surgery.
I hope your surgeries went well and you are home.
I agree with the other comments if your struggling with it now you won’t want to finish it. Maybe the dark purple will look good on a Halloween piece. I’ll be watching for the retreat info.
So much to see and hear! Great vlog Stacy - all the best for your surgery. 🫶🏼🐨👍
Your projects are looking sooo good! Best wishes on your upcoming surgery.
OMG those project bags!!! I’m in LOVE with the octopus! Your projects are stunning, my friend.
Beautiful progress on your projects. Love the sampler patterns you purchased. I always get so inspired when I watch your videos. Thank you for sharing so much! I pray that your surgery is successful and that you heal quickly and completely. ❤
I’m also doing anzak doing mine in two colors!
Great video. Love to watch. Can’t wait to see your WIP Parade
Hello friend
Great to see you.
Good luck!
Great ideas! ❤ Thank you
I do enjoy your videos. You know just what you want to say. Best of luck on your next surgery.
Thanks for watching! Your former kitchen sounds so pretty ❤
Great flosstube. Change your thread on that new project. We can tell it’s not ‘satisfying’ to you. You were much more excited about your Sulky Black in the other project. So many new projects, and big ones!! Thank you for sharing.
Glad to see all your great progress on your projects.
Yeah!! Stacy is back. I’ve missed you
Sharing you are creating a masterpiece, not sure about the plum, switch it to a color you will love :)
I love the look of Plush Plum - UK retailer shows it with light brown, dark brown and dark plum/black. Weird.
Love the new patterns you show!!
Hi Sharon, that is my mom. And niece & nephew too. I forgot to mention them 😂 Thanks for watching. I’m always so happy to hear from you ❤️
Your stitch work is beautiful, may I ask what you’re favorite floss to work with is?❤
That sampler floss color is crazy! I don’t think you’ll be happy with it… it does look brownish/plum. I think the black will give you what you want from the design (from what you described.) If you are questioning now… I’d switch. Really enjoyed the update! Sending prayers for your upcoming surgery. Thank you 😊
Change the thread out for something you’ll enjoy stitching with AND looking at later.
I was miss seeing your videos. Always do much info. Good luck with your surgery.
Good luck with your surgery.
It was so much fun to see so many Dodger fans at the game! They were everywhere, in the city, airports etc. I loved seeing them. Great games too ❤
Thank you
You have a lot of black stitches…add one more if needed. But I love the plum, vintage look.
If you are not happy with the thread color change it because you won’t want to finish it and it’s a beautiful project. Good luck with your surgery.
I think. LOL. xoxo.
Thanks so much for talking to me about the colors. It makes more sense now ❤❤
Omg. I was raised in the Bronx. I live on Long Island now
