Thank you John, after some trial and error, I have found your way to be the best. I am still doing one color ones but they are turning out pretty well! I just wish I would have made my screen a little bigger so I can fit a shirt in any orientation. The hardest part I find is lining everything up just right. I ended up drawing grid lines on the silk screen with a sharpie so I can apply the vinyl straight. Those shadows can really mess me up getting it aligned!
I worked in a print shop in another lifetime, but when you decide to do multicolor you can use simple registration marks. Print the first color on paper w/marks and leave it taped down. Then cover registration mark with tape and print your run. Line up each successive screen to printed marks to sheet on platen, then cover with tape. Jonathan with Catspit has several good videos. You should join his forum lots of good info for free.
omfg u just dabbed the dry part at the end with a sandwich knife then assulted it by smearing it to and from every direction with a duct taped plank board..!!! lololol i love this video, this needs to go viral for the wrong reasons lol, u sir made my day
I am glad I watched this video because I am thinking of making my own set up for screen printing, especially different size screens for different projects. I have two small hinges that I might make into a small unit like this. Very inspiring. I imagine you have graduated to much better printing by now. :-)
I sent you a message but you have great idea here is a hint or 2 Tape stencil to bottom of screen, then flood as you did. Fills mesh and stencil before printing With the silhouette cut stencils out of sign vinyl, mirror/reverse print like t shirt transfer. Weed it, apply transfer tape, then adhere to bottom of screen tape off top before printing. I did this, I bought a discontinued Yudu Card Shop and extra screens on Ebay and reclaimed the preprinted screens, less than $25 so far. Good luck, post more screen print videos as you work it through John
Wood working trick....if you want to make 2 pieces the same size exactly for making frames. Rough cut the 2 pieces slightly long. Then place them in the saw together to make one cut. This will make your frames more uniform.
I just wondered what fabric it was that you bought? I'm trying out some DIY things at home here with some old picture frames from the dollar store and some old Ikea translucent curtains and I'm going to use the drawing fluid and screen filler. We'll see how it goes. This was fun to watch, nice job.
Emily Wright for mine I used canvas frames ripped canvas out and stapled sheer curtain on for the screen. Sheer curtain I found at hobby lobby for $6.99 before the coupon. I've made 12 frames with 1 curtain. I got the value pack of 6 frames with 50% coupon at Michaels for $10came back ad got another valuepack in bigger size 5 frames for $10
Cool thanks. I'm in Canada so we don't have hobby lobby but I've been using curtain fabric, I just don't know the thread count. I need something a bit higher. I read that between 80-130ish is good. But the higher it is the harder it is to get the ink through but the better the image will turn out and the easier it is to paint if you're like me and use the Speedball drawing fluid. I'm definitely going to head to Michael's and get those canvasses though, in fact I have a couple lying around they're just a bit big. I know you can get the hinges from art supply stores as well as the hardware store so I have one on hand that can be re-used because you just take out the pin but my only thing is what to use for the backing board and the part at the top where it attaches to the hinge. Definitely need to refine my process a bit. I also saw that Michael's sells screen print frames and with a 50% off coupon it wouldn't be a bad price, it's about a 5$ difference for me with all the materials in Canada so sometimes it's easier to just get them pre-made. Anyway, long post sorry, thanks again! Have you tried embroidery loops? They work great. I have one set up that I'm going to use a stencil on and see how it goes.
Emily Wright honestly I can easily make a multicolored screen print system. But I have decided that the line table system is better as you can make as many as you want to do several shirts at the same time or just stick with 1 shirt at a time but as many colors as you want in that shirt look it up! It's how they screen print in 3rd world countries 💗
Thanks so much for doing this. I'm just looking into trying to learn about screen printing & to learn along with you was brilliant. Really respect you sharing as you learn too. Cheers so much. :-)
That's SPF (Spruce/pine/or fir) which is construction grade junk wood.... It WILL warp and is most likely junk White Pine.... I'd spend a couple more bucks for better quality wood..... I would personally get maple, it's straight like working with steel 😉
Ok, a squeegee is cheap. Buy one. But FIRST that is NOT a silk screen. That's a stencil. It would be far easier to tape it to your tshirt or paper and sponge paint it... Like a regular stencil. A silkscreen's purpose is to burn the image onto the 'silk' to get a fine line or fine dot detail capability. You've missed the entire point. Sorry dude but thanks for the effort.
This would be good. But try to loose the um and try to get what you're doing in the video frame. You say, "what I'm doing" and we can't see it. Obviously for the haters, he meant 10$ for supplies, not the tools. One has faith anyone doing DIY projects or is even looking at how too videos has tools.
Good video. My only concern was with the fixed hinges....looks like you have to unscrew the hinges to release the screen. Check out this option for another option in respect to the hinges ua-cam.com/video/tuFhs59gsu0/v-deo.html Good job !!
Yea but not everybody has a saw, drill, staple gun just hanging around. You'd have to go out and buy it if you are that committed to this project, silly Dana
DIY a screen printer for under $1.00. what is wrong with this people? are they cheap skates? or homeless? or super savers. can you find another hobby ? Next will be how to build a screen for $00.00 they will grow their own tree and silk...

try taping one edge lightly of transfer tape of vinyl to platen, lower screen then rub to adhere from ink side.
I like the newbie side of this video... two thumbs up! no pretensions of whatever. just plain honest DIY video

You are fabulous !! I never ever think it would be possible to create a squeegee !!
Great job... I am so impressed how good you built the frame. ;)
I like your 90 degree jig - simple yet accurate!
I like it, it is a cool project that we all can improve on our own, but it works preatty good!
nice keep at it
Hey boss! How are things going now? Care to do an updated tutorial? Just curious how you've evolved on it.
I sent you a message but you have great idea here is a hint or 2

The fabric wasn’t thin enough that’s y u got globs of paint , the finer the mesh the smoother the outcome

@ 02:20 "you can actually see it right about there" 😂
What type of fabric screen should it be?? And where can I buy it thanks 👍🏼
This needs to be a Saturday night live skit.
question: what fabric did you buy for the actual screen ?
,.i im a screen printer n u dont really have to cover the screen with ink. and good job
what is the fabric you used
Holy Macaroni!! You just give me a great idea, thanks!!!
Holy macaroni = angel hair pasta. :)
More pressure one even stroke.
Thank you Sir.
Thank you ! Great vídeo
Fun drinking game: every time he says "umm" take a shot
TheChampsHerex I started to count but lost track lol

Try that with Noam Chomsky. Alcohol poisoning is guaranteed.
Thanks so much for doing this. I'm just looking into trying to learn about screen printing & to learn along with you was brilliant. Really respect you sharing as you learn too. Cheers so much. :-)
Get rid of that home made Squeegee. It is soaking up most of your paint.
Bondo spreader from auto parts store... that is what I use on small prints.
@@ZOMBie64 Nice tip, thx.
wich frabric is it?
i like catspit how much was the plastisol? thank you for posting i shared to fb
hi is that just a regular net curtain you used please x
Pfft to everyone who didn't like it. You know someone who has a saw that will cut this, or go to Home Depot they will cut the wood for Free!
They only do one cut for free, then it is $.50 - 1.00 for additional cuts.
Our HD and Lowes won't cut wood.
where did the stencil come from?
Obviously he's got a stencil tree in his backyard.
Really cool.helping me a lot...thumbs up

why are you the only one who's noticed this? This guy wasted his & everyone else's time.
Your comment is a little harsh, but helpful. I appreciate the explanation.
you put the tape in wrong position
thanxxx a lot 😊good idea..i will try to put the colour with a brush on the piece of rubber and then add it .
Bro which type color u r using in this video.plz tell me
He never said what exactly the screen he used was. Just said it was pink. Anyone know what screen to use????
It was just that the fabric store had. jI's ust cloth with spacing between it, about half the width of a screen door screen.
Check out CatspitProduction...he will teach you a lot of cool things about screen printing or look up Bob Mongiello on youtube...he is the best.
Sharon Garrison Thanks!
Nicely made but your squeegie seems a bit big but well done
You won't waste so much ink if you use a real squeegee.
A materials list would be great.
Dude made his own squeegee...
in the time it took him to load the screen, he could have just painted it.
Just a little tip: i think your video is wayyyy too long, you should edit more and share the essential

trolls suck
por favor las personas que no saben de estampacion que no suban videos como estos
yeah let me just get my saw
SO not for $10. $10 plus a saw, a staple gun, etc. Still a useful video, but....
Good video. My only concern was with the fixed hinges....looks like you have to unscrew the hinges to release the screen. Check out this option for another option in respect to the

its not $10 with a $200 saw, drill, staple gun list continue

I made all of my stuff without any tools other than a hand saw and a srew driver which I am pretty sire everyone has
wow you are so brilliant...
you can get every tool you need for this at a 99 cent store. Power tools are optional but not remotely necessary.
This not is screen printing. If You don't Know keep out from yt
This not is English. If you don't know keep out from USA. You no grammar have good.
@@imaacehole9577 Dude, YT is INTERNATIONAL, if you don't know and only speak English, stfu.

Use a hand saw.

Could of made the video a bit shorter it was way to long..
Same could be said of your comment.
I'm going to use an old picture frame out of the trash, k thx
Ummmmm..blablabla..ummm..blaaaa..ummm
the harder you push your squeegee the thinner it'll be
10 dollars went out the window with the chop saw
Also he forgot to add what his rent and utilities cost, and what about the clothes he's wearing? .. and the buckets, what'd they run him?
Lol dude better camera angles man
