Also for the first question, could you have used the difference of two squares, for 1/2(AB+AC)(AC-AB) = 0 simplifying to -> 1/2(|AC|^2 - |AB|^2) ? And why are you able to just multiply by 1/2, when zero is on the other side???? thanks!
Yes difference of squares is fine, so long as you write the mod sign as you did. And the 1/2 won't make a difference, because as you say the expression is equal to zero
