There's giant trees on America and Canadas west coast that are well over a thousand years old. The shame is that most of them were cut down.

How they know his exactly age?
You can't know exactly unless you have records of when it was hatched.
They know he was fully grown in the 1890s which would have made him at least 50 back then. The margin of error is a few decades.
Landed in 1882 (archive records) and was fully mature then (at least 50yrs)
