Yay, Steve! Will be reading the Constant Gardner next week and you're right the movie with Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz is fantastic. Love seeing you and MKV together!
What a great installment. MKV in the fantasy basement, with apes - it was killing me! I also laughed out loud at the discovery of a vast collection of Destroyer, Mack Bolan, and other such series; when I was growing up, I only ever found those books second hand in volume. Either the store would have one or two that they wouldn't know what to do with, or clearly there they would take whole collections at a time. And if they took one collection they took a bunch of them! Thanks guys. Hope you have a great time!
Enjoying the adventures of the Superfriends, you two are having a blast. My first thought upon seeing Runelords book three featuring the shaggy monster .. its the hairy giant manthing from Sesame Street. ooOO Spider books, cool present. Fifty pages in to find a giant toad, sounds perilous, no social commentary for me .. we have a giant toad on the loose.
Brendan Frasier starred along side Michael Caine, in the film adaptation of the Graham Greene novel, The Quiet American. It was directed by Philip Noyce.
You should be trying to break OUT of the fantasy community tsk tsk tsk. Rental car - a trip up to Richo's place perhaps ? 🤔 The three of you for Three Musketeers month (or whatever it is) Hmmm
I do like how you have your guest sit in relief.

Yes it's Fiennes. Fraser is in The Quiet American by Greene.
Well, this was just delightful! I am just disappointed that Roger couldn't make the trip.
Roger is just too dead for trips
@@yelisieimurai True enough!
What a great installment.

I wondered whether The Brattle would break your willpower, Michael. Congratulations on staying strong with your ban on buying books for yourself.
More super-hero team up goodness!
Love the Spider. I've got some of those.
I am all about giant toads.
All hail Tsathoggua!
Even the Brattle couldn't put a stop to the 500 Book Challenge (though it appears some loopholes were exploited.)
Todd here. Nice of you guys to finally team up and be together in person
Oh, I love MKV's shopping plan!
I just found a Battle Book Shop bookmark in a secondhand book!
I'm holding out for the Big Book of Toads.😅
I have images of Steve sliding up next to Jimmy in the school cafeteria now 😆😂🤣
What? No Miss Read? No Barbara Pym? No Gladys Taber for moi? Geesh 😂😂😂
Perhaps if Barbara Pym had written Conan the Episcopalian?
You were right. Constant Gardener is indeed a film, and it starred Ralph Fiennes and--I believe--Rachel Weisz.

I'm in the Giant Toad club.
I'm with you.

The older film adaptation was white washed into a completely different story.
Long live giant toads! Thanks Michael.
I read the first Runelords book when it came out, and I remember liking it. But I didn't read any more of the series.
fancy tie Mike
Congrats on not succumbing to temptation. You are a better man than I.😮
Doc Savage had a "skullcap".... Not a "helmet". LOL
Frederick Forsyth wrote The Afghan after the Cold War ended, imagining how some agent would infiltrate a terrorist organisation like Al Qaeeda.
