    ----------
    It was the Saturday before Thanksgiving
    And all through the house
    Not a creature was stirring...
    Except for the gradually swelling sense that I was forgetting something.
    OH CRAP. My partners and I at Copy That! had completely forgotten to plan or prep for Black Friday... AKA "Christmas for Capitalists."
    So I did what any marketer and copywriter should do in that situation...
    I buckled the heck down and cranked out a sales letter. I kissed my family goodbye, locked myself in my office, put in 3 hours on Saturday evening, and woke up at 3am on Sunday to put in 3 more hours.
    After some revision and polishing: Bang! I had a sales letter.
    A few more hours wrestling with Kajabi later and I had an offer set up, an order form, and some coupon codes.
    But my funnel was missing one more thing... EYEBALLS!
    I had to get people to look at the sales copy. So I wrote some emails that Sunday.
    Then, on the following Wednesday, I got on stream and over the course of about 5 hours proceeded to write 4 more emails for everyone to see.
    What you're watching right now is the edited version of that stream wherein:
    * I also taught a lot about the different types of emails and why you'd use them (and why not)...
    * I explained how to research and prep for email writing...
    * I showed an example of how to ethically "swipe" an email...
    * I revealed how sending emails to a list actually works, and what clients need to do once they receive your copy...
    * And I also showed a trick for reaching even more audiences with the same copy by "double dipping."

      Because we are living in an extremely distracted era. And focusing on your goal os very hard. People love to spend time on watching entertainment and BS videos but only those will succeed who can control their ego and know the art of moving ahead. No matter what so ever happening in the surroundings.

      Yes. Easy fix: give yourself permission to write poorly and nonsensically. Then liberally delete and replace and refine. You can also "speak" your copy into dictation software.

    What type of email should I first start writing do you think? I’m a complete beginner never wrote a piece of copy in my life and I’m very eager to just start practicing and getting feedback. Thank you for your content it’s amazing

    • @CopyThat
      @CopyThat  7 місяців тому +3

      First off, don't worry about writing until you've read and taken notes on about 100 emails from different niches (100 is a made up, arbitrary large number--it's just to help you understand the scale of comprehension I want you to undertake before you begin producing).
      Now, in my opinion, it might actually be easier for you to start with a value email or long sales email. This is counterintuitive. But just as good poems are harder to write than stories, shorter emails are harder to "get right" for beginners. With a value email or sales email, though, you have an argument that you're making and more space to flesh it out. It also helps you practice your basic copy skills a bit more, like distinguishing features and benefits.

      @@CopyThat Roger that, Makes plenty of sense. Thanks very much, I really appreciate your insight. I’ve watched maybe 3 hours of your content since I just found out about you, but it’s been FARRRRR more beneficial then the many several hours of copywriting “content” I’ve been watching. Sorry if this is a redundant question, but with AI on the rise, is copywriting truly worth getting into considering all the tools currently available? Won't that only further eliminate junior copywriter jobs?

      I disagree, and I have other videos explaining why. But if this is something you firmly believe and it truly troubles you, then maybe copywriting isn't right for you and you shouldn't worry about it.

      If you're impatient to watch Sean's explanations on why AI won't replace a copywriter...
      Then here's quick summary: He told you to "Git Gud".
      Sure you can use AI-writing, then you'd have to tear down that copy and start all over. Because whatever AI spits now (2023):
      - doesn't make unique ideas.
      - couldn't link 2 different ideas in copy.
      For eg: in health copy, the unique idea would look like this:
      "If you think tomatoes are good for you. Think again."
      - The idea that some vegetables are BAD, is its unique idea.
      Copy will make you think, "Shit I didn't knew that."
      And AI struggles with it and won't improve in the future.
      Because AI's just an word patterns recognizing algorithm (Great for quick research)
      It doesn't have an internal monologue saying "oh this idea seems crap." Only human do that.
      tl;dr
      - It costs time to edit a AI-copy draft, why not just write it.
      - currently AI writes crap and would still in the future.
      How can copywriters stop fearing AI?
      = "Be better" . (You can find videos on becoming better at copy)

    2:54:13 in this part
    Isnt the purpose of an offer to increase the sales of a campaign
    But here in this context aren’t we compromising future campaigns by not making being able to do a heavy discount
    So what can you do in future campaigns to increase the sales after striking out this one

    • @CopyThat
      @CopyThat  5 місяців тому

      I'm not sure what you're talking about... why would having a deadline for this campaign prevent other deadlined discounts in the future?

    do graphical sales emails work w products that need some explanation? any experience with selling copy that courses with graphical vs other types? I always found longer copy worked better with courses...
    NVM - you mentioned that graphical emails suck at selling info products

    • @CopyThat
      @CopyThat  4 місяці тому +1

      So fun fact: for the campaign I was writing for, I purposefully chose for the graphical email to go out on Thanksgiving, thinking no one would buy.
      But the email actually ended up doing pretty well!
      Once again proving that we never know anything until we test.

      @@CopyThat I’m wonder if it’s because of the urgency and deal. I’ve seen similar, but also a no go when it comes regular sales (meaning not as hot/big of a deal) as Black Friday, and saw long copy outdo the graphical sales in that context
