It's absolutely AMAZING how these take you back, to a precise moment, as if I'm right there NOW. man the memories. Is it me, or were the 70's absolutely the best?
Even though I have not see this commercial in over 40 years, I remembered the line "No time to lose. Joe must get the mummy out!" I must have watched a lot of TV when I was a kid. Thanks for posting this.
Man I never realized that mummy casket was 1/2 the size of Gi Joe. I still have mine in the original box with all the accessories but I haven't opened it in years! Gotta go and check it out right now!!
This was my very first GI Joe toy. It was a great starter because it was one of the few sets that came with a Joe figure. I ended up with tons of it throughout my childhood that eventually all went away in various garage sales. I agree with the poster who said these were the greatest. I took this stuff outside and played in the backyard and didn't spend all my time texting and playing video games on my ass.
i just received my vintage AT Secret of the Mummy's Tomb set from ebay today. Watching this video inspired me to buy it. Wow...does it bring back some memories. Thanks for posting , Frodo.Wait...i almost forgot..."Ma'am, yes, ma'am! " i give you a kung-fu grip salute! :)
My Brother had this and we'd play with it for hours. I'll never forget one time I put a daddy longlegs in the casket and my Brother nearly killed me. He was mortally afraid of spiders, even harmless ones. LOL
Except for those of us that grew up mainly in the 80s, then those times were the best. And currently the mid 20s adults talk about how the 90s were definitely the best lol. It's cool to see how different decades had such a profound impact on childhood memories. Whether you were a child of the 70s, 80s or 90s if there were cool toys and shows you liked, being able to look back on them with fondness will never be a bad thing.
I always had one gi joe never did i have more or anything that went with it " Cars" Planes" NOTHING_ untill i was about 11 years old at the age when i was just getting too old for this kinda stuff i was into otherthings Rock Music- Guitars - football playing on the streets every day- i guess it was like 1974 or 1975- And wouldnt ya know it for my 11th birthday my father and two uncles bought me like tons of GI JOE adventure stuff including this mummy set and 5 other GI JOE's i was like "Really? Now you get me this " oh well- i played with it alittle but felt i was too old for it as my friends use to make fun of me so i gave it to a little boy down the street from me
weird that only in the 70's could our plastic armed forces have beards, except for Black GI Joe. We used to shave them all with a spoon, get Mohawk Joe going. Action Jackson and Bionic Man could hang , but Big Jim was actually not so big, came in at like 5ft tall compared to the others
@gijoefan1973 that is for sure. take one look at my channel. i am a real life gijoe figure lol. 37 and still play gijoe and train ninja and samurai just like i did as a kid. i got more imagination in my videos that kids do now. crazy kids and all on some medication too lol

@tampatek They were indeed the best! The days of playing for hours with big-ass toys. Awesome memories for sure.

Thank you for sharing this ! Had the set in the early 1970's and loved it .
I had that toy back in the day! I played with that thing a lot!
I had this set. all that's left is the mummy in the sarcophagus. still cool looking on a book shelf.
Whatever ever happened 2 the rest of the set?
My guess is my nephews found the rest after i got older and " too old for toys" you are never too old for toys, i have found that out .
I got this set for my birthday probably about 1972. I still have the atv, but thats about it.
My mom found a pic of me and my best friend playing with this set and the mobile support vehicle. So cool.
I got this for Christmas in 1972 I wish I still had it.

Love this theme!
Had a few of these, lit em on fire with liter fluid back in the day. Not sure what that was all about, been ok since.
They need a live action G.I. Joe The Adventure Team with Joe Colton the leader with the childhood nostalgia and set in the 70s.
I'm 40 but my dad sounded just like that LOL!!
@in2theabyss17 Haha! Sounds like you hit the jackpot!
@60sThru80s Oh sure. Somebody uploaded them here too. I had Spy Island.

As Lou Costello would say: "A midget mummy!"
Or the Three Stooges, Curly would say "King Rootin tootin"
My GI Joe's occasionally brutalized Ken and used Barbie for "Adventures of the Mommy's Womb!"
Razor sold seperately...
